Rudy will look for problems with your house that he is not qualified to fix, and con you into letting him fix them. He constantly showed up late and I would have to call to track him down, only to be fed a bunch of excuses or find that he was at other job sites. He would leave his 2-3 workers at my house unsupervised who were even less qualified to do the work than he was. There are many "remodels" he did to my house that I later had to pay a professional to come and fix properly because he screwed it up even worse than it was originally. For example, Rudy agreed to install a brand new front door at my house, as well as install a pedestal sink in the bathroom. The front door was so poorly installed, that within a month it had moved so much that I couldn't even get it to lock anymore. I had to have a door professional come to completely remove and reinstall the door properly. The door pro said that it was the worst install he had ever seen. It turns out that Rudy didn't even use the wooden wedges that I PROVIDED him. He simply littered the door with finishing nails and assumed that it would hold in place. It cost me over $250 to have it reinstalled properly. Rudy installed a pedestal sink for me, but didn't have any silicone tape when he connected the water lines, so instead of going to the store to get some, he used MASKING tape instead. Needless to say, when I turned on the faucet my whole floor started to flood with water. I had to go buy my own tape and fix it myself!By far the WORST problem I had with Rudy is my original wood flooring (1947). While his workers were painting my trim (which they also didn't do well), they left a can of paint thinner sitting on its side on my wood floor overnight. In the morning, the can had leaked and puddled and taken up all of the polyurethane in a large spot in the main living room. Rudy never took responsibility for it, but instead conned me into letting him "refinish" all the wood floors in the entire house. Anyone who knows anything about polyurethane and wood floors knows that you can not patch a spot and have it look good, so I agreed to his $800 price tag for the whole house which seemed semi-reasonable at the time (I must of been out of my mind to let him do anymore work on my house after all the disasters I'd encountered so far). He claimed that he was going to use top-of-the-line polyurethane that cost almost $100 a gallon. I later came to find out that he was using the cheapest polyurethane from the paint supply store that only cost $20 a gallon minus whatever discount he gets. The poly he used isn't even meant for wood floors. Rudy and one of his workers hurriedly sanded all the wood floors and slapped on 1 coat of the cheap poly. They finished the entire house within 6 hours, obviously trying to get done as quickly as possible and not doing a good job. After the poly had set, 1000s of little air bubbles littered the finish on my floor, as well as countless long hairs (GROSS) and little pieces of dust and trash. These hairs (GROSS) are now permanently set in the finish of my wood floors. There is no way to remove them. By this time, I was so frustrated that he had basically RUINED my house that I just wanted him to leave and never come back. I was also out of money, so I did not have the $2-3 thousand dollars it would cost to have a flooring professional come and fix the awful job he had done. My wood floors were 1000x better before he put his hands on them. Now, everyday I have to look at my once beautiful floors which are now littered with his disgusting hairs and air bubbles. His pricing may be slightly lower than others, but he does NOT at all do quality work. He is very personable which is one reason I hired him, but if I could do it over again, there is NO WAY in the world I would even let him step foot in my house. This is a warning to all of you: If all you are looking for is a simple paint job (and like to gamble), then you MIGHT consider him. However, DO NOT let him talk you into doing ANY other work on your house or you WILL regret it!
