O'Brien Garage Doors - Tarrant County

Workmanship was good. Just very expensive.

It has been a while but I remember that I felt very satisfied with the service and price and knew I would us them again.

They showed up on time, and explained in detail the process and reasoning behind the breakage, he was fast and professional, he even tightened up some of my garage door bolts which had come loose.

The service person seemed to know his work and pleasant. He replaced wheels on the track and serviced the doors. I had an issue with one wheel popping out recently, but fixed it myself. Also had slippage issues with on door on opening--I re-lubricated it myself. I don't know if the later issues were associated with the service or not.

I had a coupon so the tune-up only cost 49.50! Very honest repairman. I will be using them again and I will tell other people to use them too!

Other than having the install date rearranged because their new office person wasn't aware that installs have to be scheduled in the morning, it is going very well.

The guy that was sent out was really nice and seemed to know what he was doing.

I've never had such excellance service. I came home at 2:30 pm, garage door wouldn't open because the spring had snapped, looked at my Angie's List booklet, called O'brien Garage Doors and it was fixed by 5:30 that day! The service tech (Joey) was professional, polite and knew what he was doing - recommending that a garage door of the size of mine should have dual springs instead of one (installed when the house was built, to save on building costs, no doubt). I have a lifetime warrantee on the new springs. The price was right, especially after the discounts - one of which was a "Military" discount which was given when Joey (in conversations when doing the work) discovered that I was a Vietnam Vet. I rarely get military discounts from anyone so I was very appreciative of it (Joey didn't even mention it - it was a line item on the invoice). I would recommend O'brien Garage Doors to anyone and they will have my business if I need work done in the future.

The torsion spring broke and damaged a sheave and bearing. The technician said that I needed new rollers, possibly true but he broke one in the process of convincing me that I needed 10 new rollers, cost $150.00; then I had no choice but to buy new rollers. Our door has only one torsion spring; when he presented the bill and went over it VERY QUICKLY I noticed he was billing me for 2 springs at $130.00 each. He adjusted the bill with the explanation that he was in a hurry. Will not use them again or recommend them to anyone due to lack of trust based on this experience.

They were prompt, and they do reliable work.

I was very happy with them. He was very nice, came out promptly. Called me thirty minutes before he came. He was just very nice.

Installed a new garage door properly with little fuss for me.

My elderly mothers garage door spring broke and she contacted O'Brien Garage Door for a replacement. They came promptly and installed two springs at a very high price of $500. Her garage door opener started making noise and it was determined that the wrong springs were installed for the heavy weight insulated door and put stress on the opener. O'Brien was contacted, but insisted the proper springs were installed. We contacted the manufacturer of the garage door and were told the proper springs to install. O'Brien was contacted, but refused to believe us and would hang up when we called. The contact person at the Clopay Garage Door company was provided, but O'Brien claimed no such person worked there. A complaint was filed with the Better Business Bureau, but no response was given by O'Brien for 12 months. As a result of the inproper springs being installed, the garage door opener broke and a new one was needed along with the proper springs for the insulated garage door. This all resulted in needless additional expenses for my elderly mother. None of this would have been necessary if the proper springs had been installed initially and if O'Brien would have co-operated and contacted the Clopay Garage Door Company and provided a little customer service. They were horrible and we discredit them at every opportunity.

Went well overall. Tried to sell me replacement rollers for $150 that I'm not sure I need-will get 2nd opinion. Noticed that another reviewer had same experience. Tune up only took about 15 minutes and door is quieter now. Used O'Brien because of coupon I got in mail.

The torsion spring broke on my garage door so I checked with a neighbor if they had anyone good that they used and got the number for O'brian. I was disappointed they gave me a 4 hour appointment window and nearly cancelled on that alone! Daniel came within the allotted time and immediately wanted to change out my rollers for $100 additional dollars; which I declined. He had a very thick accent so was hard to understand and he had to repeat himself several times. Part of not understanding him was not knowing exactly what I was paying! He broke down the cost by parts and labor, but didn't tell me (of I couldn't understand him) that there was also a service fee. I like knowing what I'm paying up front so I'm not caught off guard. He did the work extremely fast (30 minutes) and the door works great now, so I can't fault him on the quality of work. He also sprayed lubricant on all the moving parts before leaving, so that was nice. I just was just not expecting the service fee. He did take a few dollars off ($5) when I complained. I was expecting just under $200 for the price since that's what my parents recently paid to replace theirs.

The installation of the garage door was wonderful. They told us that we needed a whole new door including the springs, which I had no problem with. I did, however, have a problem with the remote they gave me. We had told them previously that we needed a remote for the garage door because we couldn’t open it but when they came out they did not bring it with them. After I told them I needed the remote they asked me to pay before I received it, which I refused. I had to make another appointment and wait for someone to bring me the remote. It was a needless trip for me and very inconvenient.

Gloria was wonderful. I had talked to several other companies by phone and they weren't very helpful. I was wanting something unusual. In the store she explained to me why it wouldn't work, because she knew the ins and outs of it all. Although I was disappointed that I couldn't get what I wanted, I much appriciated her explainations and with her help it was easier to select between wood, clad, etc. The same day we talked a tech came out to measure and he also was very nice and knowledgable. Within a week another tech came to do the installation. His english was limited but he was very nice, efficient and tidy and we managed to communicate enough. In all a very pleasant and sucessful experience. The price was one of the lowest I had checked out, which included several national chains as well as a local manufacturer in Fort Worth.

Bid was twice what I paid to get the same work done.

They didn't really repair the problem, then they left the cover off and the light burning in my garage door opener. It was a typical mess up. The price was very high. They did something weird with the coupon because they charged me like $197 to do very little. I gave them a D on everything but punctuality because they got out here but they left the cover off the garage door opener and the light burning all night on it, which means it's malfunctioning in a way that it wasn't malfunctioning before. I wouldn't use them again. As soon as I can get rid of them, that's it. I'll use somebody that has an A rating on Angie's List.

The guy never showed up at the original time. He downgraded the previous tech that installed the door. I was very unsatisfied with the whole experience.

They did a bad job. I don't think the people they sent out to hang the door had ever done it before. The garage door broke and we had to call another company to fix it and they said it was never put up right the in the first place. It cost us almost $200 to fix the problem. This was quite a few years ago.
