 + -1 moreWe couldn't open the utility room door because the knob wasn't catching the barrel mechanism. Mike came over the following evening and removed the faulty set. He made a quick trip to Home Depot to purchase another knob set, then returned and installed it.

He consulted us frequently about issues with the house that became apparent as the job progressed, including repairs to under-lying damage resulting from the rotted cedar siding. Because the extent of the damage was uncertain, the job was bid as a time and materials. We highly recommend Mike and will use him again.
Description of Work: Replaced exterior diagonal cedar siding with diagonal hardy board, including two tall chimneys. Installed and sealed metal roof caps. Repaired damaged soffit.

 + 0 moreMike took the old rotted area out and found more damage than I thought there was, but my son figured it was worse than it looked and was very pleased that it was address . The damage was explained and showed to us so we knew what was going on. He made sure we approved all added repair and cost before he started . When it came time to paint I told him about what color I wanted. He went and got several sample jars and painted a board so I could see what the finished look would be. He went out of his way to make sure I got what I wanted and My son thought the prize for all the work was more than fair . And the bottom line is we LOVE the work it looked great. .
Description of Work: repair storm damage to the back patio and rebuild and painted the rail on the back yard balcony

 + 0 moreThey helped where I didn't have to pay my deductible. He got with the claims and adjuster and they worked it out. I am not sure how much it cost. I recommended him to my daughter and son-in-law the live in Paris and that's where he lives, and he went over there and he felt that they had talked to another adjuster. That guy told them that they didn't needed their roof that the weather didn't cause it, but Mr. Garcia called him and he came over and said, "You must get a new roof". He said you do me one and it was because of the weather. They got a different claim adjustment. So, he worked with Mr. Garcia. So, they didn't have to pay the deductible. I got two trees in the backyard and I got houses all around me, but the trees they have they really shed when the fall comes, and they all come over to my place.

He charges us about 60 or 65 dollars an hour, and does great work. He's installed a gutter for me, installed a microwave for me, and so on. He's my go-to guy and gets my highest marks.
Description of Work: He installed an attic pull-down ladder in the garage. We had an attic access but it didn't have a pull-down ladder.

 + -1 moreI called Mike to get an estimate and he stopped by the next day as promised to evaluate the job. He estimated and gave me Angie's list hourly rate. We scheduled an install date, and he was unable to keep the scheduled date, but he did notify me in advance and left a message to reschedule the install. He arrived promptly on the new scheduled date and time and installed the cabinet in a timely, friendly, and professional manner. He is on my referral list and I would use his services in the future.
Description of Work: Mike mounted a 60 x 40 custom cabinet on the laundry room wall.

The time came to purchase materials for the job when he realized that the price he quoted me did not include labor. Therefore the estimated price went up. He was very apologetic and gave me time to decide whether I wanted to continue with him or choose another company. I decided to do more research and went with someone else. Mike was very pleasant, prompt, and professional.

When we had trouble with something, he came back and fixed it, and did not charge us for it. He was very professional and did an excellent job. We will definitely use him again in the future.

 + -1 moreHe was great. He took down the old wood picket fence, he poured cement and erected poles, and then he put up new wood fencing. It took him about five days because he had to clear the brush and shrubbery that was in the way. He did quite a bit of labor and I think the price was fair. He gave me a quote of $1,800-$2,000 but it took him more time then he expected. He did an excellent job and we are very pleased.
Description of Work: I found Mike Souther about a year ago and I have used him quite a bit. He built a cedar fence around our back yard.

He will be doing some painting and redoing some of the wood in the house. He's really very professional, up front about things and anything that he saw that was out of the ordinary or he thought he needed to take care of he let me know. he showed up when he said he would and he did what he said he was going to do. It was one of the best experiences we've had in a long time. He was very reasonable.

Description of Work: Mike has done remodel work in my house for several months. For those individuals that need to phase the work, he is willing to work with you. Mike began with the removal of a small desk in my kitchen. He relocated cabinets from the kitchen to the laundry room. He totally re-did my kitchen island. I showed him a picuture of what I wanted it to look like and he re-did it to look just like the picture. Mike has installed crown molding in my kitchen and den. He added a fire place mantel to the kitchen side of my fireplace.Mike replaced a shelf under my sink that had been damaged due to water leakage. Mike repaired water stains on my acustical ceilings in the kitchen and den, and re-did both ceilings. They both look new. I leave the garage door opener with Mike, and he simply comes in and does the work. Mike charges you for the work he actually does, he does not charge for running arounnd getting parts, or for having to leave and return, etc. Mike is very honest and trustworthy. If he can't schedule you for several weeks, he's up front and honest and tells you, however, when he does get the work schedules, he arrives when he say's, get's to work and gets the job done. Mike is still doing work in my home, and as long as I need work done, I will call no one else but Mike.

This was very detailed work that required someone like Mike that wanted to do the job right, not just the least expensive way. While the overall investment to get this work done was not at all inexpensive, we feel completely confident that Mike did not miss anything that needed to be done. That in itself with the high quality of work made the investment well worth it.
Description of Work: Completely Restored two large Wrap Around Porches on Historic Home and replaced other needed wood trim, siding and moldings.
