Monty showed up promptly for the initial free estimate. Ditto the day he was to do the work. We reviewed strategy, moving gutter, alignment, etc. Monty did a beautiful job. And he was $250 less than the competition! Highly recommend.

Neighbors and I are pleased with his work. the best way to reach him is by telephone.
Description of Work: Monty Woodard came the next day to build a new mail box, after the inspection and the bid. His brick work skills are high rated. He did a near match on the brick replacement, hauled off the old brick, & left the site clean . He is easy to work with.

He came when he said he would. He is a friendly guy. It was kind of hard day and he didn’t stick around all day. My husband said that he did a good job probably the best that he could have done.
Description of Work: I used Monty Woodard for masonry work. The last time I used him was about a year ago. He fixed some of the masonry work on the brick of our house.

I called for an estimate and Monty came the same day. We agreed on a price, a date and time. Monty showed up on time and completed the work in the time he said. He explained the repair process. Did a good repair job and left the area clean.
Description of Work: I have a curved arch over the area just in front of the front door area. The arch mortar between the front bricks and next row back started to crack and was gradually growing in lenght and width. I considered the crack a safety issue and check Angie's List. I called a few listees with one being Monty Woodard from The Mason Mender. He is in Arlington and I'm in Euless so he was able to stop by the day I called. He explained the repair process and I felt comfortable with him. We agreed on a price with the repairs to be made the following Tuesday. He showed up on time and completed the job in the timeframe he said he would. I waited a few weeks to submit this review to be sure the repair still looks good and it does. I would call Monty again. Monty ground out the old grout and went a ways beyond the visible crack on each side. He used silicon and a bonding agent with the grout and it turned out very neat. After Monty cleaned up and carried his ladder to the street, I saw one very small spot and asked him about it. He said he would take care of the spot I noticed. He recovered his ladder and went up to go over the spot I mentioned. The spot I mentioned was very minor and I am sure I was being over fussy but Monty never thought anything other than just making sure I was satisfied. Monty left the work area clean and as it was before he started the job. The arch looks better now than when we moved into the house four years ago.

They showed up on time and begun the job. Let me say, Monty is very nice and his crew was also. The wall and hottub seem to be a good job, the wall is very pretty. Although, they got mortar on my house, the bricks surrounding my hottub, a standing brick wall, all over my aggregate patio, on the aggregate in a dog run, in many spots of a wrought iron fence, on a sidewalk, and all over an area of river rocks, which they dumped water in that contained mortar! About 30 mins. or so before the job was completed Monty approached me and asked for more money than what we agreed on. He said his guys had worked hard, it was hot, and that he had under bid the job. I was very surprised, I have hired many many company's to do work for me around the house and I have never had anyone ask for more money after after an agreement was made and the work had begun. I told Monty I didn't think that was possible and what about my 10% coupon? He replied,,, Oh No! I was quite uncomfortable as the work had not been completed yet so I told him fine I would not use the 10% off work coupon and that I would pay the full $1150.00 He agreed to that. I think it is not fair for this company to offer a 10% off work coupon and then not allow you to use it, or ask for more money after an agreement for price is made.
Description of Work: I contacted Monty from Angieslist, I explained in detail of what I was wanting. He came out that day and we discussed what I was needing done....a privacy wall about 5 feet tall, 10 feet long, also some tiles put back on a hot tub that have popped off, and than put some mortar between 3 bricks that had become loose. We discussed whether to use brick ,or Austin Stone for the privacy wall and decided on Austin Stone. He was to call me in a few days (which he did) for a total price. He said it would be $900.00 for the privacy wall which included the Austin Stone and labor. $200.00 to put the tiles back on (which I supplied) that had popped off the hot tub, and $50.00 to put mortar between the 3 bricks. I was fine with the privacy wall price, but I had thought the hot tub price and the price for the mortar between the 3 bricks was high. I decided to go ahead though and agreed to the total price of $1150.00. I also had the 10% off coupon he offers on Angieslist so I thought that would compensate for the higher price of the 2 things I have mentioned so I hired him and we set a date and time for him and his crew to do the job.

Response from Mason Mender
In response to the member's comments on my work. I gave her a fair price for the amount of work and then some. and went over and above agreed height for the stone wall to ensure maximum privacy from the pervert behind her. The pool and hot tub were both filled in with concrete for the dogs to run and do their business. The tile repair was on the corner of the hot tub where her dogs urinated, and was a extremely difficult area to work in at 105 degrees. I am very meticulous about clean up, and diligently tried to get it as clean as possible. I gave her a very fair price, and my material cost was my mistake, and was miscalculated, and she never identified herself as a Angie's list member when we talked not that that matters I treat every customer the same and give everyone the best price i can. and i take great pride in the quality of my work and the finished product. Sincerely Monty Woodard/The Mason Mender

Monty is very professional and does quality work. I would highly recommend him and certainly would hire him in the future.
Description of Work: I called Monty on a Friday afternoon and he said he could come out at 10:30 am the next day. He did show up on time as promised. He provided an estimate, which I accepted. He then immediately started the work and finished in the early afternoon. Monty removed the decaying top layer of brick on my mailbox. He then installed the brick I provided. He also installed my metal mailbox within the brick mailbox, which required the grinding of a larger hole and the placement of mortar around the mailbox.

I called Mr. Woodard and explained what I needed done. I had extra, clean bricks available for him to use. He gave me a quote over the phone and set an appointment for the next business day. When he came to the house, we discovered the plumbing repair job was not correctly done, so he left again. After I had the plumbing problem corrected, I phoned him again and he came by two days later. Both times he arrived a little earlier than the time he had scheduled. He went right to work, did a neat job, did not leave any mess behind. I felt that his price was fair and that he made it easy for me to get this little chore done. He was polite and personable and professional both on the phone and in person.
Description of Work: I needed brick replaced on the exterior of our house where a plumber had to take it out to repair a broken hose bibb faucet.

I was impressed with Monty's on time arrival and his cleanliness. He was also attentive to detail enough to let me know some of the replacement bricks I provided had some mortar on the face and suggested I find some cleaner ones. Luckily, I had plenty to choose from and they all matched the old brick well. I was a little worried the mortar he mixed was too dark to match the old mortar. But after I acid washed as he suggested and it has cured, it continues to lighten and I think it will be fine. I gave a B on quality because the lines of the new brick are a little off (curves upward in the middle). I didn't notice it at the time of the work, and it's not noticable enough to bother having the work redone. My wife says I am too much of a perfectionist. I feel I got a good job for a good price.
Description of Work: I had removed a small round window and all the surrounding brick, as well as a dryer vent. I had all the old brick removed and the replacement brick ready to go. Monty gave me an estimate over the phone and was able to come out the next morning to install the brick. My home originally had black mortar that had faded over the years to a gray. Monty had to put some black dye in the mortar to try and match it. He worked quickly and cleanly and was done in about an hour and a half.

We called Monty Woodward for an estimate, which he promptly provided after an initial visit. We obtained two other estimates from your list of contractors and decided to accept Monty's bid. He had to drive to the Acme brick facility in Denton, TX (approx. 50 miles+) to pick-up the new brick. The next day, he and his helper were on the job first thing and completed the re-building job by mid-afternoon. We were very satisfied with the job & workmanship. He even helped us with replacing a new battery in our car!. All in all, we would certainly consider Monty for any other masonry job in the future and would recommend him to others. Please note: our neighbor who was responsible for the damage approved of Monty doing the job and paid the full amount. He was certainly pleased with the completed job which we appreciated.

It was easy. I called for an estimate on a Friday morning, he came Friday afternoon. Explained everything, gave us a Angies List discount : ), and came back early Monday morning, made both repairs. Cleaned up everything and was gone before noon. Awesome!!!
Description of Work: We had a crack running from the slab of our custom all brick home up to the roof. It was a very thin crack, (the slab was not affected,) but we were concerned that water and changes in the weather would, over time expand the crack. Monty replaced all the bricks that were involved, removed all the old grout, sealed the entire area and then regrouted everything, matching the new grout color was well. He answered all my questions and explained what he would do and why. You cannot even tell a repair was made!!! Then he also regrouted our wood burning fire place "firebox" area, where we had loose or missing grout. So the amount charged was really for 2 separate jobs, that were both done very throughly.

Monty called immediately and then came out within a few days of my email (I was in no rush). He began work the next day and was finished quickly and with minimal noise/dust. Matching brick to a 1938 house is impossible but he took the time and effort to get it extremely close. I feel like we got a much better bang for our buck with him than other quote we got.

I recommend Monty wholeheartedly. On a scale of 1-5, he gets a 10. We are happy happy happy with the work. I called for an estimate and he came when he said he would. His estimate was more than fair.He was very honest and up-front about everything. He has a very pleasant personality. He works smart and fast. Plus, he cleans as he goes, so it all looked nice the entire time. By smart, I mean that we were unsure about how to finish off the columns, but he was able to come up with a solution that was even better than we had envisioned. You can't go wrong with Monty.

i called Monty on a Friday to get an estimate for some masonry repairs. he returned my message within an hour and said that he could come by that weekend and take a look at everything. He looked at the various masonry voids, etc. and said that he could it for $200. We both agreed on this price. He said that he could come by to do it while I was at work that week. He said that if I had any questions after the job that i could give him a call. He performed the work and did an outstanding job. I inspected everything when I returned home from work the day he did the job and i had no complaints. I am attaching before and after photos of the main repair. There were several other smaller spots around the house that he fixed.
