The price was a bit high, but in line with other quotes we'd received. They delivered the pallets early and we had to wait a few hours for the team that was to lay the sod. There was a little confusion with that but the team arrived, laid the sod out and did a great job. It took them nearly all day as this grass is definitely more labor intensive to lay than bermuda, which is part of the reason for the extra cost. This company knew what it would take to successfully do the job and I'm glad we went with them for everything instead of the temping option of finding less expensive labor to help out. And the grass is doing great!
Description of Work: We purchased buffalograss sod and installation from this company. It was for a section of our back yard that gets full Texas sun. There was no existing grass to remove -- just some weeds, which we removed as best we could. The soil is clay and there was a small amount of topsoil that the builder added -- other than that, no additional prep.

This company advertises itself as King Ranch Turfgrass on the Web (www.kingranchturfgrass.com), not Turfgrass America. They were added to Angie?s list with the wrong name the same month I was having discussions with the regional manager about adding them to Angie?s List and giving them a bad review. Four pallets of pallet-damaged grass was delivered to my home (pallet damage is grass that has died due to being on the pallet too long). I am attaching pictures which show a rectangle of green grass re-growing in the Spring surrounded by dead brown grass. It is likely that the men that were planting the grass placed one rectangle from the top of one pallet in the middle of grass from the interior of another pallet. Other grass is regrowing in strips in my lawn (the outsides of the pallets). The grass had pallet damage because the delivery of the grass was delayed 3 days by bad weather last fall (May 16, 2009). Normally a company should re-harvest under this condition. They did not. The company delivered an invoice with a warranty disclaimer by mail one week after the grass was delivered. The warranty was for 3 months (which covers the winter months if you plant in the fall like I did). The warranty is insufficient and does not allow the customer to see it re-grow in the spring if it is planted in the fall. Also, limited warranty paperwork should not be delivered in the mail after the purchase. Other grass companies will warrant for a year. I've shared this story and photographs in detail with this grass company through email and several phone calls. Their management team - both at their Arlington store and at the regional manager level did not provide a satisfactory resolution to my issue. In the end, some free grass was offered, but only if I purchased $400+ more. All conversations with the management at this company consisted of them accusing me of not taking care of the grass ("no water"). That was a strange claim since I sent them the same pictures that are attached to this review. The management team at this company was confrontational when the issue was brought to their attention and they consistently accused me of not watering the grass. When you buy $800 in grass, you water it. The rectangle photographed is in an open lawn area, not under a tree, and was watered the same as the lawn around it. The pictures do not show that I did not water the grass (grass does not grow in strips and rectangles due to watering issues). This is a well deserved F.
Description of Work: They dropped four pallets of St Augustine grass off at my house. My local lawn mower tilled the soil prior to the arrival of the grass and planted the grass. His comment when the pallets arrived was "this is bad grass" (we saw areas of brown, and the grass was wet and wilted in the interior). I called the company, and they assured me the grass was ok. I should not have listened to them.
