J & J MANAGEMENT CLEANING SERVICES

I consulted Ms. Coker to clean my home. She gave an unseen quote of $120 to $125 for a "deep clean" and told me exactly what she would do. First of all, she was thirty minutes late. Upon arriving, she asked me to show her around, and I did. We walked through the entire house, and I told her EXACTLY what I wanted cleaned. After we finished, she said OK and then began. At that point, she said nothing of a higher price. I didn't stay to watch; I took my daughter to a camp. She knew that I had a camp for her that day. I called her at 1:45 and asked if she minded me waiting to 3:00 to pick up my daughter and then come home. She said that was fine that they would be working until probably 4 p.m. At 3:15 she started calling me asking when I would be home that they were done and had to leave. She wanted to meet me somewhere to get paid. I told her I was on my way. She called again asking how soon. When I arrived home it was 3:54. (She later told me I was late.) They were in their car with it started waiting to leave. She then told me it was $150.00. She did not offer to go back in and walk me through or anything. I told her that's not what she told me and after the walk through didn't tell me it would be anymore than the original price that she had quoted. She said it turned out to be much more detail work. She asked me how much I would pay, and I said I guess $140.00. She took that and left. Upon going into the home it was only apparent that they "went over" the bathrooms. There was no deep clean period. Mold and shaving cream splatters were left in one bathroom. None of the baseboards were cleaned. She specifically told me that she would do all the blinds and light fixtures. She neglected those in the 3 bedrooms. She barely dusted the furniture. I asked her to oil the furniture. There was still dust on the furniture. She left dust on picture frames as well. I contacted her via email. At first she was in disbelief but appeared willing to come back. Then she decided it was too far of a drive back. I told her I would show her what was missed. Then she offered a refund. She asked me what I felt was reasonable and I told her $100. She had originally told me that a normal clean would be $85. I thought given what they had left that $100 was fair. She responded that she would refund that and needed my address. Then, two days later, she emailed again that she would not refund any money. That I had chosen to complain to get out of paying and that she didn't let her customers dictate what she charged. In a nutshell, I was left unsatisfied and had to reclean myself. I found her tone in the emails rude and I told her that I had remained sincere and polite. I have copies of our conversations. In addition, she broke the string on the ceiling fan. She hit one baseboard so hard in the bedroom that it chipped the paint. She didn't bother to tell me about the ceiling fan but she did leave the string for me.
