+ -1 moreWe are very happy with the job that Jacob and his team performed . They were extremely meticulous and did a thorough Job. They discovered a birds nest which was clogging the vent . They removed it, cleaned the vent and installed a new vent cover. They also provided us with before and after photographs of the vent as well. During the course of cleaning the vent , due to faulty installation of a vent transition came loose. They detected and repaired the issue and sent someone the very next day to repair the drywall which they had to open to access the vent .

+ -1 moreIt was a disaster! Prior to the appointment, I had spoken to the owner to schedule the work to be done. I thought I had a clear expectation of what was going to happen, but I was very wrong. If you read my narrative of what was done at the house that day, you will see why I felt strongly that this was a "BAIT AND SWITCH" operation. I was under the impression that the total bill would be $88 if I used the Angie's list special. Instead, if we had allowed them to perform the service and replace the vent as they recommended, the bill would've been around $500 instead! During my 22 minute phone conversation with the owner at the time of the appointment, he explained to me that it was impossible for a vendor to really make money on the Angie's list specials. He informed me that Angie's list kept 50% of the fee, which would only leave him $44 of the $88 special price. He then informed me that the lint alert monitor cost him approximately $60 and he had to pay for his employees to come out to the house. He explained that the only way his company could make money is by adding on charges once they actually got to the house, such as $140 additional fee for cleaning out the vent and for selling rooftop vent covers for $285. I explained that I felt it was deceptive for him to be on a page of "Dryer vent cleaning services" and yet he did not offer to clean the dryer vent for the price stated in the ad. He replied that he was not responsible for the wording in the ad, Angie's list was. He stated that he would call Angie's list and have it clarified, but nowhere in there did it specifically say he would clean the dryer vent. 10 days has now passed since that conversation, and his ad on Angie's list reads exactly the same as it did before. SO, BUYER BEWARE!!! If you are expecting to receive an inspection, a dryer vent cleaning and a lint alert monitor for $88, you will be sorely mistaken. Your bill will be well over $200, and that's if they cannot talk you into replacing the vent cover on the roof. If you go for the whole package, it will be around $500!! I understand that they specialize in dryer vent cleaning, but I strongly recommend that you choose another company that discloses upfront the total price.
Description of Work: I had discussed in detail what my expectations were prior to scheduling an appt for my elderly mother. I told the owner over the phone, at that time, that I was calling about the dryer vent cleaning special price advertised on Angie's list for $88.00. There were several other companies listed on the Angie's list page of dryer vent cleaners that were less expensive, but his included a camera inspection and a lint alert monitor to be installed. I had used other trades people in the past who used a "camera inspection" to inspect drains or plumbing by running a hose with a camera on the tip to show the entire length of pipe. This is what I was expecting. I was sorely mistaken. Two young employees arrived at my mothers home. We showed them where the dryer was and they pulled away from the wall. I asked them if they needed to get their camera equipment since they were not carrying anything. He responded "no, we don't use that kind of camera inspection. That equipment is way too expensive". He then climbed behind the dryer and disconnected the vent from the wall. He then stuck his camera phone at the end of the vent and snapped a picture. After that, he and the other worker took a ladder from their vehicle and climbed to the roof. They removed the rooftop vent cover and snapped another photo with their camera phone. Then they came down to ask us if we wanted "the vent cleaned". I responded, "of course, that's why you're here". The worker informed my mother that he recommended that she replace the rooftop vent cover with a different style and that it would cost her an additional $285.00 to replace the vent cover and reshingle that part of the roof. Then he said, "if you would like us to clean the vent, that will be an additional $140.00". I told him that he must be mistaken, that I had found this service listed under "Dryer vent cleaning" and that the $88 special was to include the "camera inspection, Dryer vent cleaning and installation of a lint monitor". He insisted that the $88 only included snapping photos of each end of the dryer vent with his camera phone and installation of the lint monitor. He asked me again if I just wanted the inspection service that they had performed, or if I wanted to pay the additional $140, minus the 10% discount he offered. I insisted on speaking to his boss my phone. I spent 22 minutes on the phone with the owner of the company. I became more and more upset as we talked.

+ -1 moreThey went and had a look at the photograph. They showed it to me if the vent needed the cleaning. They then gave me a quote, which I thought was quite a bit expensive. As they were already there, I had some pressure to do the work. They did the work. They said they couldn't do the installation after the complete cleaning was done. I was not thrilled with their work. The quality was not bad. They were on time.

+ -1 moreThe young men that serviced my house were very efficient and did not try to sell me any service that was not needed including cleaning my 15 foot vent pipe. They said to keep doing what I have been doing and check back in 5 years. They told me that based on their inspection it did not need cleaning. I told them that I periodically blow/vacuum it with my Shop Vac. I had them replace the flex hose as it seems that there is always link floating around our laundry room. They attached it securely and now I will see if that makes a difference. I am going to recommend them to a co-worker.

+ -1 moreThey came with heavy duty equipment and cleaned the vent from both directions. Plus he removed the bent vent cover on the roof and reset it properly. The dryer has run much better since. Whereas drying towels would take 45 mins, now they're done in 20 mins.

+ -1 moreHomeSafe cleaned out my daughter's dryer vent when her dryer was taking too long to dry. They arrived on time and quickly ran a camera through the vent to determine how clogged it was. After showing her the video, the cleaned the vent and ran the came through again to show the "after" picture. The service techs were great and thorough. She said she would use them again and recommend them.

When he first arrived, we could not see any light from the rool top vent when looking from the bottom, but by the end of the work it was clean as a whistle. Very thankful for the price and the quality of work!

+ -1 moreJacob arrived when he said he would and went right to work. He installed the Lint Alert and showed me before and after photos. The difference is amazing! He had additional products that I would have purchased had the financial timing been better but he did NOT pressure me to purchase anything extra. I would most definitely recommend him and his company and will certainly use his services in the future.

He didn't try to over sell me on anything and everything that was done was what was needed. It is comforting to know that this is taken care of because it is one of those things that we forget to do, but could be disastrous if we don't take care of it. Thank you for the peace of mind.

Fixed this and recommended a new type of roof vent, which needed to be installed by a roofer since extra shingles would be needed. Very pleased. Professional crew that was very clean and polite in my home. Did not try to oversell me and were honest with me that vacuuming the system was not necessary at this time. Will use again for regular maintenance.

+ -1 moreThis is the first time we had our dryer vent cleaned out. We've lived in our new house 7 years. We decided it was past being due. Our vent system was 23 feet long. He took about 20 photos which he showed to my husband and then e-mailed them to us. The roof vent was jammed with thick mounds of lint because the builder put the wrong type of termination head for a dryer vent. After he pulled out the worst of the lint on the roof, he took camera photos before and after going down/up the vent. We were lucky to not have had a fire. My dryer is now finishing in half the time it was before the vent cleaning. We will do it more regularly in the future. Jacob is very professional and scheduled this service the following day after we called.

+ -1 moreMy dryer was not working properly (i.e. the clothes were not getting dry.) I had the vent cleaned about three years ago, and I thought I would go this route before calling a dryer repairman. They showed up on time and checked the air flow through the vent. I mentioned that I had the vent pipe extended from the attic through the roof three years ago. They went into the attic and discovered that the extension had been dislodged and that there were some dryer sheets stuck in an elbow. They inspected the vent. It was clean, but it had a crack that might be worsened if they ran their brushes through it. However, the flow was still not good. So they checked the dryer itself and found a couple of orphan socks trapped in the back (no idea how they got there). Then they put everything back and vacuumed up the little dust that they had created. Best of all, there was NO CHARGE (although I did slip the guys a couple of bucks for climbing into the attic in August). My house is 50 years old, and the vent is three inches in diameter. The current standard (and the outlet on my dryer) is four inches. They said that my current vent would work, or they could run a new four inch vent straight through the roof with no elbows. They gave me a ballpark quote that sounded reasonable. I have it on my "To- Do" list after I finish paying off a few other bills. I will definitely use HomeSafe Dryer again, and I have already recommended them to friends and family.

+ -1 moreVacuumed and brushed the vent from the inside from dryer up to the roof and back down from roof to the dryer. When they removed the cap on the roof vent there was a hole about the size of dime . that was the only place any air was getting through. It had been years since it had been cleaned and this is one of these things you kind of forget about. I am shocked we didn't have a fire. That's how bad it was. The vent was obviously the wrong kind to go up and out on the roof. The cap on top of the pipe just made the lint hit that and stay right there filling up over the years. Replaced with a roof vent that has a hinged door so it will open and blow out. They replaced shingles surrounding the vent. (I provided the shingles) Ran a bead of mastic to reseal the shingles. Excellent response time , called and they came on a SAT. to do work. Wonderful. Now that we have the proper vent on the roof , the dryer is actually working. We were about to give up and buy a new dryer because it would take 2 to 2 1/2 hours on hi heat to dry Anything. It was maddening. For safety Everyone should make sure their vent is cleaned, especially if you have a roof type vent. I am serious , I am so thankful we didn't have a fire. These two guys were neat , worked quickly and efficiently and were very professional. They took pictures and if I knew how or where on here to add an attachment I would. Maybe Jacob will see this and add our pictures.

+ -1 moreJacob had to drill out the rivets of the dryer vent that my roofer installed when the roof was replaced. The roofer installed the wrong type of vent/cover. They installed a attic vent with wire screen instead of a dryer vent. The vent at the roof was completely clogged 6" to 10" into the 4"diameter pipe. Jacob had to drill out the rivets to remove the vent cover , but installed screws when putting the vent cover back on. Due to the current design of the roof outlet and flashing, we couldnt install the correct type of vent/cover that is really needed for a dryer. I need to have slight roof mods to be able to install the correct vent/cover. He also can install a flush wall mount vent in the wall behind where your dryer vents. This is only if you have a roof outlet and really need more space behind the dryer. I will probably have them come out and install one of these.
