+ -1 moreI called Home Safe at about noon. They were there working on the issue by 4:00 and had work complete by 5:00. Jacob took pictures both before and after and explained the entire process.
Description of Work: My dryer was taking forever to dry clothes. After having the dryer serviced the issue was determined to be low air flow due to a blocked vent. My house is 17 years old and I don't think the vent had ever been cleaned. Jacob from Home Safe came out the same day I called. He was efficient and professional and thoroughly cleaned the area when his work was complete. I highly recommend Home Safe.

He discovered a crushed dryer hose and a malfunctioning exterior vent. He replaced both quickly and improved dryer performance was immediately noted. The price was reasonable for work performed, although a coupon for a cheaper price was later made available on another Angie's Big Deal

+ -1 moreSee above statement. Jacob is the owner and sole tech of his company and takes pride in his work. Completely professional on the phone and on the job. I would not hesitate to hire or recommend this company.
Description of Work: After initial inspection on Friday I was informed the dryer vent did need cleaning by my wife who was shown live pictures of the inside of the vent. The vent runs several feet thru the roof of the house, it was not clogged but needed a good cleaning. I contacted Jacob later in the day and to my surprise he set an appointment for Monday, Memorial Day. Jacob arrived after a slight delay due to train traffic but he kept us well informed of his approximate arrival time. He went right to work disconnecting the the dryer and reaming out the lower part of the vent system. He then went on to the roof and finished the vent. An industrial size vacuum was on the whole time sucking up the debris. Jacob then cleaned out the lower back side of the dryer and connected a new and better vent hose between the dryer and the wall. All of this took about 1.5 hours and absolutely no mess was left behind.

+ -1 moreVery professional and were able to work me in the day after I called. I had not had the dryer duct cleaned since the house was built, about 8 years ago. The dryer was taking multiple cycles to dry loads and I had noticed quite a build up of lint in the transition duct when I had last changed it. The "before" pics they showed me were just plain nasty; the duct was 40% to 50% clogged. By the time the job was finished, the pics showed a duct that looked nearly new. I have a two-story house and also opted to purchase a new transition duct from them which made my pricing a little bit higher than some of the others you might see listed here. I will be using HomeSafe Dryer again the next time I need to have the dryer vents cleaned.

He used some really cool methods, like a high pressure vacuum with a camera attached so we could see the areas that he was cleaning. He inspected the vent before he cleaned it and found a bird's nest in one area of the vent. He took care to move the nest before they got to work so he was very thorough in his job and used up-to-date technology. I give him all A's and will use him again in the future.

+ -1 moreThey did a great job, too, and we're definitely going to use them again. They did a really nice, great job. We did the big deal He sold us an extension from the dryer to the exhaust. We spent an additional $39. It was roughly $100. We've been in this house 20 years, have never had it cleaned, and he cleaned it out. He was very courteous. He explained everything he was going to do and did it. We got exactly what we paid for. He did an outstanding job and we will use him again. I wasn't here, my wife was here, it's sad, but, if someone says what they are going to do and does it, you're as happy as a clam. He said it wasn't that bad and we hadn't had it done within 20 years. I might use them once every 1 to 2 years.

+ -1 moreAfter submitting my original review I was contacted by the company to deliver my vent and they even brought a roofing specialist to install the vent on my roof which originally I was going to need to contact a roofer to pay to have this done. Also, I was refunded the amount of the original cleaning fee as well as the fee for the roof vent which I did not expect or ask for when filing my original complaint. I was very happy to hear the explanation from the company on why they did not originally supply me with the vent and they did express that this is not how they like to do business. This gentelman was very professional and expressed his appologies for not having done things correctly from the begining. I applaud this company for stepping up to make the situation right and I would not hesitate to recommend them in the future. They resolved my complaint and I am a satisfied customer.
Description of Work: I contacted this company since it was an Angie's List special deal for having my dryer vent cleaned. Since this my first time using Angie's list I did not realize that I had to book and pay for the deal through Angie's List so the company would not horor the deal of the 79.00 cleaning. During the cleaning he mentioned that my vent on my 8 year old house was the wrong type and advised that we get a new vent which he was willing to sell too me for 40.00. I went ahead and paid for the vent at the time of the cleaning and since he did not have it with him he would drop it by my house that weekend. As you would suspect he never showed to drop off the vent so I called the next week and at this point he said he just got some in so he would be by within the next few days to drop it off. Again, it's been a few weeks now and no vent. I originally thought this was a very nice person when speaking with him on the phone but he is obviously not very ethical so I will not use him again and would not recommend anyone use his services. I am somewhat skeptical now about using this list as a way to find a good company since this company originally has had no bad reviews. + -1 moreI set up an appointment with Jacob--he had an opening in our area on Saturday, which was just a few days after I called. He called 15 minutes before he arrived to give me a heads up, and arrived on time. Since I hadn't been having problems with the dryer (or at least I didn't think I had been having problems), he started the cleaning from the outside. However, there was so much lint accumulated, that he decided he'd better proceed from the inside. Within an hour, he had the whole vent cleaned out. He noted that the transition hose from the dryer to the wall was of the metal accordion type, which can restrict air flow, so we asked him to replace it and he did. While doing so, he found that one part of the old hose had several sharp indentations that were catching lint, so we were glad to be rid of it. Since the cleaning, I think that our dryer is running more efficiently. I never noticed how long a load was taking before, except that invariably the dryer would automatically add another half hour or so onto the end of a cycle if the clothes weren't dry yet. I thought that was normal. Now the clothes dry within the normal cycle time, without added minutes. I bought the $79 Big Deal for this service, and paid an extra $28 for the transition hose--not much for the time and effort it took him to replace it. Jacob was very pleasant and personable, and really seemed to know what he was doing. He took before and after pictures, which showed exactly what was there and the end result of his cleaning. I would definitely recommend his services, and will use him again in the future.

We knew the vent had collapsed in the attic but didn't know we could not hook it back up because the roofing company had not replaced the hood and had justroofed over it. Now we know we need to get it redone. Felt like Jacob was very honest about the frequency that the vent needed to be cleaned. He could have said every year but he didn't.

+ -1 moreI had called to arrange for dryer vent cleaning because family members and the housekeeper never seem to remember to clean out the lint screen between loads. He was delayed due to traffic, but he called before the appointment to explain and gave a new arrival time. He arrived before the new time. He took photos of the inside of the dryer vent tubing to show the accumulated lint. He showed them to me, and I showed them to the housekeeper. With an industrial vacuum, he cleaned the tubing out and showed me how flimsy my connecting hose was. I ordered a new connecting hose from him. He also vaccuumed up the accumulated lint from the baseboards and the floor behind the washer and the dryer. He was courteous, answered all my questions, and was very professional. I had an Angie's List coupon for $79 for the service and the connecting hose was approximately $20. I will definitely use him again and recommend him!
