Poor workmanship. Claiming to do business from an address he isn't even allowed within 200 yards of for domestic violence. Did multiple projects around my house that were left unfinished and poorly done.

We hired Greg Hall as General Contractor (GC) for a major remodel and addition. Problems began immediately as he did substandard work, was exceptionally difficult to work with, outright lied to everyone on the project and was extremely lazy and rarely worked at all. He was overheard saying "I only work 2 or 3 hours a day and go home" by me and by our HVAC guy. This was also verified by the fact that the neighbors saw him come and go in short succession daily. The project, as a result fell behind by more than two months. He also asked for lots of money up front and did not complete the work he was paid for. Also he did extremely shoddy work - he installed windows improperly, framed columns incorrectly and in the wrong places, charged to raise the foundation of the existing structure professional but instead bought pneumatic lifts and did it himself so he could pocket the difference, and destroyed vents without paying for them. He took over $6000 and then refused to do the work he was paid for. ultimately we were forced to terminate him officially and he stated that "Your mistake was paying me so much money up front. I won't be giving it back." The man is a criminal (we did a background check on him when hiring him and he's been in trouble with the law several times for assault and DUI). He is a huge liar - he lies to your face and also about his supposed background in homebuilding. When checking his references only one checked out and the others hadn't heard of him. We only used him because we were pressured to start the project asap. Don't make the same mistake! CHECK HIS REFERENCES AND BACKGROUND AND ONLINE REVIEWS AND YOU WILL SEE HE IS A CROOK. We plan to file a lawsuit against him next month to recover the $6000 he was paid but never did anything for - instead, he used it to put money on a new car and go on vacation. He's a horrible person and not to be trusted. TRUST ME. HE IS A CRIMINAL!
Description of Work: Foundation, roofing, sheathing, framing, and window installation for new addition and remodel.

Response from Greg Hall Remodeling
Ok...The thing about Angies list is the inability to effectively counter any negative review. As for [Member name removed], He is a sad person who will say anything, to get a negative response. He has no shame, or bounds. I mean, each one of these accusations (line by line) is reason enough to terminate any contract, or agreement. How is it I was allegedly paid so much for allegedly doing such a bad job? You are a despicable person, and a liar! Please...file your legal action. My counter claim is waiting. Which will include Angies List for publishing such ridiculous, false, professional defamation.

He didn't cover walls, furniture, floors, etc... Did a half a** clean up job, when issues were pointed out.
Description of Work: Terrible company... Do more damage than good! Hired him to scrape & texture & paint ceilings.. He didn't cover ANYTHING! Lots of overspray. Scratches on wood walls, that we're not here before he came. Scratches on wood floor, from dragging fridge. Asked him NOT to bring his kid to work. He did anyway, toys were left. Don't use this guy!!!!

OMG!!! That sounds terrible! I looked in my records for your info...I was unable to find yours, but I did discover that I and my family were on vacation in Hawaii when you submitted your review, and since I have no subs, or sub-crews doing work for me, it is possible you have me confused.

The remodeled shower was much better than the original and added value to the property.Greg and his crew were very particular regarding the quality of the work performed. The repairs performed on the ceilings were invisible and blended perfectly with the existing ceiling (one could not see that it was repaired). The beam over the garage was swayed 4-6 inches and was an eyesore and the garage door opener didn't work. Greg and his crew resolved this issue by replacing the bowed beam with a laminated one and he professionally installed a new garage door opener. It is now the straightest looking garage header in the neighborhood. Greg is extremely honest and his prices are very reasonable for the services that he provides. If there is an issue with the quality of a service, Greg, a perfectionist, will go the extra distance to make it right. Greg sticks with his estimates regarding costs, he has been known to absorb reasonable unknown extra costs (Greg is pleasant to work with and he is very customer oriented). Greg has performed other work in the past, which prompted us to invite him back to perform the work described in this review.
Description of Work: Greg remodeled the master bath shower and repaired water damage to the upstairs and downstairs ceilings. Greg also replaced the supporting double garage beam and re-sheet rocked the garage ceiling. He also repaired the wall above the garage door. Miscellaneous other repairs were performed around the house. An FHA inspection was performed after all the repairs with no defects found.

Tile uneven. Grout lines uneven. Toilet wobbles. Grout sealer all over tile. Had helpers doing work and not Greg hall. Tile chipped. Put bar code ends of tile outward. Grout lines cracked after one month. Texture all over everything. Inconsistent. Used my tools (compressor)'until it broke and denied it. Took a realtor sign off porch and repainted as his own. Lied about taking it. Told me he buys tools, uses them. And takes them back as if they are broken. His work is at best mediocre. You get what you pay for. 3 months later the grout has chipped and cracked. The shower leaks. I will have to hire a professional to repair what the handyman did.

Response from Greg Hall Remodeling
I will always stand behind my work. I always take great care to inform & discuss all quality issues related to budget restraints with the client. I always recommend leveling concrete floors, especially in a bathroom, especially in a complete remodel situation where we have the concrete clearly visible before we start work. Deadlines & budget are my paramount concern for the client. I and the men working for me are truly disappointed with this assessment by [member name removed]. We tried to help to help them. We went beyond any agreements I had with [member name removed]... EXAMPLE; Late on a Saturday evening, [member name removed] calls, has a problem with garage door...I immediately respond, upon arriving I see the problem is bigger than we can fix. I immediately get available help, & secure the garage door, all at my expense! NO charge to client Repair numerous roof leaks on home...no charge Installed mailbox post & holder...no charge Appliance removal, and cabinet repair, & support for cantilevered counter top...no charge the free list goes on, ie; back door leak & tile at back step I and the men working for me are truly disappointed with this assessment by[member name removed]. We tried to help them at every opportunity! Their response was to keep some of my tools. I will add that I was just 1 of the MANY contractors they had on this project. [member name removed] was good to work with, but [member name removed] has anger problems.

Greg responded quickly and was able to schedule repairs within a day or two. He was always on time and had all the necessary tools. He works diligently and finished in a reasonable amount of time. Excellent quality of work, very fair pricing.
Description of Work: Fixed/repaired hole in wall - matched paint perfectly - could not tell there had been a hole. Repaired dishwasher, repaired windows and doors, replaced rotted wood.
