The technician arrived on time. He described the job like it was a big deal and gave us a costly estimate. He removed the old pipes connected to the kitchen faucet and put in new pipes. He was done in about 40 minutes.

He is writing up the estimate but I WILL NOT be using them.

We discovered a leak on our front lawn near our walkway late afternoon on 7-30-15. We searched Angie's List for a plumber and due to the high number of positive comments, decided to go with Ernie's Plumbing Service. We called about 4 pm and asked if they could send someone out the same day. We were told that they would try to send someone out but it could be the next morning. We honestly were expecting it to be the next day but we received a call from the repairman, Harry, who said he would be at our home that evening to repair the leak. He arrived as promised and assessed the damage and left for parts. He returned 40 minutes later and made the necessary repairs. He was courteous and efficient. We were very pleased that they were able to come at such short notice. We will be using this company in the future and highly recommend them due to our very pleasant experience with them.

felt they were dishonest, because the gentleman that came said there was no tool to diagnose the problem, suggested to just replace the whole unit, later finding out by another SP there was such a tool, he came diagnosed the problem and found it was just the thermostat where as the other gentlemen wanted to replace the whole unit which would've ended up being more expensive, thought they were expensive and he admitted they were

Let me begin by saying that I own four properties, and have a good understanding of what plumbing should cost, and how service calls should be handled from 7 years of property management experience. I found Ernie's via Angie's List and decided to use them due to good reviews. The plumber arrived on time, but that's where the positive experience ended. I listed out the problems I was having, with the main issue being the tub leaking through the ceiling of the kitchen in a condo I rent out. I have owned a couple of these condos over the years, and have had the same issue, so I told him what I knew the problem to be (and yes, that ended up being the problem). He did not take the time to look at anything closely before giving me a quote of $750 just to investigate the issue, not including any repairs. Let me repeat, that no investigation was needed because I knew the issue, I just needed him to do the repair. He insisted that it might not be what I thought it was, and that he needed that fee in place to protect him in case he ended up being there all day, however if the repair did not take him long, he could use some of that fee to 'stop the bleeding' and put it toward the actual supplies and labor for the fix. I was in a bind because my tenant needed access to this shower immediately, and he knew that, so I had to sign in hopes that he would do the right thing and roll it all in to this one fee (which from my experience should have been closer to $400). He then proceeded to cut random holes in the kitchen ceiling, without measuring where the tub should be. 4 holes and 2 half cut holes later (30 minutes in), he tells me I should probably just call the guy who refinished my tub and hold him liable since he couldn't find the tub. He then seemingly realized that he just charged me $750 for that terrible advice, and said 'or I could continue cutting holes.' I asked him to find the problem, please. Then he took out a tape measure, measured exactly where the tub should be, and found it on the first try! Unbelievable. Then, he quoted me $1075 all in for the fix! Mind you, we are only 2 hours in at this point (including the ridiculous amount of time he kept spending in his van to work up the numbers, and cutting unnecessary holes) and the fix involved replacing only the piece that attaches to the drain, as well as the drain itself to make a solid seal so no water escaped from the tub drain any longer. The $750 should MORE than cover this, and I told him as much. We proceeded to argue, as he insisted he had to get paid for the time he 'might end up spending' fixing this issue. Additionally, I mentioned that he had wasted 2 hours of my time cutting unnecessary holes in my ceiling that I will now have to pay to have patched. He said he could knock $100 off that price to do me a 'favor.' So now we are at $975 for a $350 - $400 fix. I asked him if I could speak to his manager. He said no, that the company trusts the plumbers to come out and quote jobs. Finally, after more arguing, he called his manager, Randy, and stepped outside, and did not let me speak to anyone. Then he came back inside and said he would do it all for the $750. Now we had wasted another hour of my time arguing over this ridiculous price. He accomplished the repair, and I helped him clean up so we could get out a bit sooner (he had wasted the majority of my work day at that point). I had a number of other items I needed repaired (including a simple sink sprayer that costs $15 and just screws on and off that he quoted me $250 for), but I would not let him go near any of it at this point. Then, on Saturday, I got a call asking how my service was. I explained how horrible my experience was, and the woman assured me that Randy would call me to discuss further. I never received a call. I understand bad things happen sometimes, but the mark of a good business is that they find a way to do right by you. No one has tried to remedy this situation, and now I am out another $300 for patching and painting 5 holes in the kitchen ceiling. This whole experience was unacceptable, and I will not recommend this company or use them again. UPDATE: Randy called and offered to wave all charges for the bad experience. I didn't feel that was fair given that work had been performed, so we settled on a $200 charge. Randy assured me that this plumber was new, and that the rates quoted in no way reflect what I should expect from Ernie's. I would now try them again, and know that Randy will address any concerns that pop up.

It went well. The man was very professional and knowledgeable. However, I forgot to Mention Tracking # 1009 for $25.00 off.

Install, Pressure check and leak check went off without a problem.

Josh came out, gave an estimate and installed the new water heater 2 days later. The old water was leaking some but since it was over 20 years we decided to get a new one. It is located in a small closet in the garage and was a tight fit but all went well. Josh answered a lot of questions and helped us decide what we wanted.

After being put off for up to 48 hours by others, Ernie's agreed to send someone within 2 hours. Jeff came on time and completed the job quickly and efficiently. This was not a highly complicated job, but he went out of his way to be thorough, made a few improvements to the system that I would not have though of, and cleaned up perfectly. He double checked his work and finished on time. Jeff was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I have not always had good experience with plumbers and am very happy to find someone who is both competent and trustworthy.

Very pleased with Terry, the plumber who came out from Ernie's plumbing service. He fixed everything we asked for for a reasonable cost. He was professional, courteous, and efficient. I will definitely use the next time I need a plumber.

I called them because of the free estimate deal. He arrived at the end of the 4 hour window- the office called and said he was on his way. He diagnosed both problems in about 2 minutes and quoted me a 225 price. He said it would take about an hour to do. I got him down to 200. It took about 30 minutes. Looking at the hourly rates on AL, I feel I really overpaid but he was courteous, cleaned up and both problems are fixed.

I called Ernie's because they came up as the highest rated plumber on Angie's List for my area. I was able to get a same-day appointment with the technician scheduled to arrive between 1pm and 3pm. At 2:30pm the dispatcher's office called to say the plumber was running late and would be at my house within an hour. At exactly an hour later, 3:30pm, the plumber arrived. I explained the problem, which was back-up and overflow from the drain pipe behind the washing machine in my kitchen. I left the plumber alone to do his work. About an hour-and-a-half later he was 'finished', saying he had snaked the drain. He said that he had filled the washing machine up with water on the small and medium settings and it did not back-up when it drained but that he didn't want to wait to fill it all the way up to full to see if that backed-up when draining. He said that if it did to call back in because I had a 30-day warranty. The cost was $189 but I got $25 off as a promotional discount because I was an Angie's List customer, so the final price was $164 Shortly after he left I went to put on a load of laundry to wash, which was a full load typical of our family of three. I looked behind the washing machine and there was still water pooled up around the bottom of the drain pipe on the ground, so the technician did not clean up after himself. (I've removed the sheet-rock behind the washer and dryer pending remodeling and repairs, so the pipes are exposed.) I went ahead and washed a load of clothes and as soon as the initial wash cycle completed I could hear the water overflowing from the drain and splashing on the ground. Therefore, absolutely nothing was accomplished by having the plumber 'work' on the problem. I immediately called Ernie's back but got an answering machine that informed me they do not offer 24/7 service, so I could either leave a message or send them an email. I sent an email to the address provided on their outgoing message telling them that my problem was not fixed and that I would need another plumber sent out the next day. Since I had to work I left my spouse's name and phone number as the contact. The next morning at 7:30 the young girl in the office called and woke my spouse up. Apparently all she surmised from the email I sent was just the phone number because she didn't know what she was supposed to be calling in regards to despite the detail I had included in my message. (This is a huge pet peeve of mine. You take the time to write something out and then others are too lazy to simply read it, which causes unnecessary confusion and delays!!) Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience the girl from the dispatcher's office became somewhat belligerent, demanding to know who she was talking to and what relation this person was to me, the original customer. Once she established that she was talking to my spouse she stated they'd have someone back out to our house by 1pm that day but was not exactly friendly about it. Well, 1pm came and went and nobody called, let alone showed up, so my spouse called Ernie's back again. It was like the conversation that morning had never happened and another request to have a plumber come out had to be made again. This time we were told someone would be out by 5pm. I found this out by text while at work so I sent Ernie's a follow-up email stating that if they didn't want to do business with us to simply refund our money from the day before and we'd call another plumber out instead. I never received a reply to my email. I was on my way home from work at around 5pm and the girl from the dispatcher's office at Ernie's called me, despite the fact that I'd instructed them in my original email to deal with my spouse since I'd be at work all day and that's who they'd been dealing with all day already. At any rate, the girl called me to say that a plumber would be at my house in an hour, even though they'd originally said by 1pm and then when that didn't happen they said a plumber would be there by 5pm. So I got home between 5:30pm and 6pm and the plumber had just pulled up. He seemed to be more experienced and professional than the technician we had the day before but I wondered if he wasn't just going out of his way because we were unsatisfied customers. I wanted the plumbing issue dealt with during the day but instead I had to come home from a long hard day at work and not only intersect with the plumber but my family and I had to sit down to supper with the plumber just a few feet away working while we ate. So very aggravating. I think he was there about 30-minutes or so after I got home. (Just long enough to spoil our dinner basically, although I don't blame him but the incompetent girl at the dispatching office.) The plumber said he'd re-snaked the pipe in the most extensive way he had available and that he'd filled the washing machine up on full and that it did not back up when it drained. He was very polite and said there would be no additional charge. I did notice after he left though that he didn't clean up the water pooled on the ground around the pipe either, which just seems like poor professionalism to me. So the drain pipe behind the washing machine does seem to be fixed and draining properly. However, our sink is stopped up now!! Both sides are backing up, so I assume whatever clog was blocking the washing machine drain just got pushed over to the sink's drainage pipe when the technician snaked it. So they didn't really fix my problem. They just changed it. I basically traded tit-for-tat and paid them $164 to do so. I will not be calling Ernie's back out again though. It's not worth the hassle, nor did they prove themselves competent enough to fix a simple clogged pipe. Based on my experience I would not use or recommend this company for any job whatsoever, no matter how minor.

Didn't do the work with the vendor, as they never showed up

The service was fantastic! When the plumber was held up on a previous job they contacted me and let me know he was running late and when I could expect him. Communication was the best! Jason was very professional and arrived with all of the materials he needed to do the job. No running to the store for parts. I will use them again.

I have concerns about sanitary issues with plumbing jobs. The plumber had a plunger without any cover or designated use label. A thought that he would walk from the upstairs bathroom with a dripping tool that had touched filthy parts was discomforting. I gave him a plastic bag and a shop towel to prevent bacteria from spreading. When I called the company to discuss existing regulations by the Texas State Department of Health Services, the owner offered to take me off the list of his future customers. I agreed gladly, knowing that the same plunger will not be used both in the kitchen sink and in the toilet. Timeline for technical issues: In July 2014, Ernie's did a good job in fixing a plumbing problem, explaining that it was in part due to malfunctioning AC (replaced by now). The service was priced at $645 before a discount. The plumber was professional in all regards. Today I experienced a drastic deterioration in the level of customer care during the call covered by the warranty according to the manager at the time of scheduling. The plumber on site did not honor the warranty. Not being technical, I am sandwiched between two "experts"- the AC installer tells me that the new unit does not function properly because of the plumbing issue; the plumber says that standing water is not a problem and the warranty does not apply. He may be right technically, but I have no way of knowing that the new problem is not a result of the previous repair. I do not want to fit a stereotypical scenario of a lady taken finacial advantage of by a repair man. Technical issues aside, Ernie's approach to highly priced jobs differs drastically from the level of service covered under the warranty. My experience made me believe that their customers are just payers. ERNIE'S HAS FEELINGS FOR FINANCIAL GAIN, NOT CUSTOMER PAIN. When you pay, they take time to explain the problem and do it in an appropriate tone. Also, I do not know if plumbing businesseses are certified for CLEANLINESS similar to restaurants, but it seems that Ernie's needs to train the employees to meet basic standards for handling equipment.

We called Ernie's Plumbing Monday morning and asked that the service would be provided on 7/6. Operator acknowledged and promised that this would be not problem for the service guy to come between 1 pm and 5 pm. Unfortunately that was not the case. He called around 4:20 pm and let us know that we will be the first call next day. The person showed up the next morning did a super job, was professional and got the job done.

We had the dishwasher running while my wife was peeling eggs for deviled eggs and dropping the shells down the garbage disposal. Water started backing up into the sink from the disposal. We stopped the dishwasher, tried to run the disposal and water sprayed from the PVC pipes under the kitchen sink. We called around 2:15 PM on the observed Holiday, Friday July 3. We were told they would have someone out before 6:00 PM. After two hours I hadn't heard anything, so I called back and was told the plumber was finishing one job and we would be next. As soon as I hung up, my phone rang - they were letting me know he was on his way and would be here in about 35-40 minutes. Mike Stanglin arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the problem - even suspecting it may have been due to some kind of peelings. He turned on the water and the disposal to see what was going on and appeared to know exactly what needed to be done from there. He was in and out in about 20 minutes including the time to go back to the truck twice to get towels and a bucket and then to write up the service invoice. Mike was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. Their van had a colorful wrap that serves as a traveling billboard and prompt, effective service like Mike provided will also help spread the word about their company.

Bob was very polite and we will ask for him the next time we need any work done. Thanks again!!

The drain initially worked better but soon stopped again. The tech would not warranty the work because he thought the lines were cast iron. The lines are ABS plastic which we verified when we fixed the clog ourselves.

We have used Ernie's Plumbing for service(s) in our rental properties in the Metroplex. They have always been punctual and professional. In the past, we have been satisfied with the prices charged, but feel that this service visit was priced exorbitantly. Since our previous experiences with Ernie's had been favorable, we elected to go straight to them without consulting other providers on their pricing. The service provided on this call was completed with quality and professionalism, but again, we are unhappy with the price paid. With our Angie's discount, the price paid was approximately $201 (list price $206). As we could have gone to Home Depot or Lowe's, purchased a new toilet and had it installed for approximately $250, we believe the cost of this service (from Ernie's) to be excessive. While we may use Ernie's in the future as their quality is still excellent, we will have other plumbers bid on any job to compare prices.

We were APPALLED with the service repair quote presented to us today by Ernie's Plumbing!! We needed a dripping bathroom faucet fixed, a dripping kitchen faucet repaired and an Instant Hot Water Dispenser replaced. The job estimate was $425.00!! But since we were a "repeat" customer, we "qualified" for a 10% discount bringing the total cost to $382.50! We have used Ernie's Plumbing several times before and were always satisfied with their prices & service but this was outrageous!!! We asked for a price breakdown and were particularly disturbed by the $175.00 charge for repairing the bathroom faucet! Since I have done this repair in the past myself (FYI I am a 60 year old woman), I knew the cost of the parts ($7.00) and the amount of labor required(less than 10 minutes!). When I questioned the cost, I was told that the repair required several parts! I happened to have one of the spare parts on hand and showed this to Mike A (the Plumber) who immediately tried to justify the quote by stating he charges $190.00/hour and this repair needed two additional parts(a rubber washer and a spring). The rubber washer & spring are sold in a set called "seats and springs" at Lowe's for $2.00! After Mike examined the kitchen faucet, and explained that the ball joint needed replacing, I remembered I had saved the original box that this delta faucet came in. To my amazement, the faucet had a "lifetime warranty!" Mike tried to discourage me from calling Delta, stating they would require the defective part returned to them and I would still need to have the replacement part installed! The $250.00 charge for installing the Insta-Hot Water dispenser was also very high since we were replacing the existing unit with an identical unit!! All that needed to be done was pop out the old unit, and put in the new one. No holes needed to be drilled or brackets installed. The faucet mounting plate was already installed and the faucet only needed to be unscrewed from this plate and replaced with the new one. The existing water lines already have the "quick connectors installed" and just need to plugged into the new dispenser. After reading over the instructions, this whole process probably could be completed in less than 30 minutes! Needless to say, We did not have any work performed by Ernie's Plumbing. I highly recommend anyone thinking of using this company, do your homework first!!! Research other companies, get additional quotes, and become knowledgeable about what a "reasonable price" for the parts and services you need should be. CONSUMER BEWARE: I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!! THEIR PRICES ARE OVER INFLATED FOR SERVICES & PARTS!

Courteous, efficient, highly skilled and professional in every way! I am thrilled with the service I received from Ernie's Plumbing and feel that I got my money's worth.
