Ernie's Plumbing Service Inc

It went great. My renter told me that he thought he heard running water on Sunday night, so he shut the water off. Called Monday and the earliest they could come was Tuesday. Everybody's booked at several companies. I have used Ernies before and they have always treated me well. It's hard when you are a landlord to find good service. Martin was the one who did the job and I would ask for him again. Told me everything up front.

Two weeks later the drain backed up plus the kitchen drain. All he did was push the drain blockage from the washer to the main drain that supports the washer, the kitchen sink and the main cleanout. Now water backs up in the washer and comes out the main cleanout. He wanted another $95 to fix this problem? I felt $175 was high to fix the washer drain, but to add another $95 is ridiculous.

Bryan came when scheduled, checked the toilets in both bathrooms and then when outside to flush the line. Afterwards, he repeatedly flushed both toilets to assure the problem had been resolved. The toilets did not leak.

I called Ernie's Plumbing because my toilets were leaking again. Unfortunately, I didn't walk into my bathroom to find water on the floor during normal business hours. Ernie's Plumbing no longer provides emergency service 24/7; however, the prerecorded message provided another number to call if the problem was related to a previously provided service. Since my problem was a recurrence, I called the new number and left a message. I waited as late as I could for a callback, and finally went to bed. I'm angry because I did not get a call the following morning either. I can make allowance for a work overload the previous evening, but there is no excuse for the lack of contact the following morning. I called the office and scheduled an appointment for a return. Since there was no scheduling flexibility, I had to cancel a work-related appointment that I had scheduled the week before. I have been a long-time customer, but that is not a factor with them since the courtesy of a return call was not on their agenda. The plumber did recheck the line when he came and told me it was clear.

They were very professional and did a great job.

It went great. I would have liked a little better pricing but other than that it went well.

I made an appointment for Thursday between 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. I was called at 5:44 pm to be told the plumber would not be able to make it. I took off work early that day (PTO) at 12:30 so I could be home in time for the plumber. The only dates for reschedule was Friday or Saturday. Well I couldn't take off another day and I'm out of town Saturday. I'm pretty disappointed in the service with Ernie's. They couldn't even give me a ballpark quote of the cost of service. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend them unless you have plenty of time to wait around for them.

I called Ernie's Plumbing from the overwhelming positive reviews on Angie's List and the advertised "free estimate" sales pitch. The scheduling process was easy and hassle-free. I confirmed estimates were free on the call. Upon arriving, the technician simply looked at the drain and proceeded to the crawlspace area. When the technician was just about in the crawlspace, he comes out and tells me he will need to write up an estimate for the inspection. Immediately worried, I asked him, "how much does it run at?" Despite his knowledge of knowing the cost, he tells me he needs to write up the estimate and still does not give me the cost! The inspection fee (labeled as "estimate) is $75 when he comes back into the house. My gut told me to decline and I should have declined; but decided to proceed. The individual claimed he could not inspect the drain because of the structure of the pier and beam. He was warned about this from the beginning and should have inspected it by removing the floor board. So I'm now out $75 for an inspection that could not be completed adequately. Overall, the estimate for cancelling two drains came back at $2k+. He immediately offered a 10% discount, then offered another 10% discount when he was advised we would not be proceeding and seeking alternative estimates. In conclusion, I am the one at fault for authorizing the $75 estimate when my instinct told me not to. As a consumer doing business with a business like this, I got what I deserved; an incomplete inspection. To Ernie's, I recommend being more descriptive to your potential customers upfront of what the "free estimate" limitations are. Evidently customers with pier and beam foundations require your plumbers to crawl underneath. ** Update. After consulting with additional plumbing companies, the average bid for the work needed came back at $400 total. Be aware of the competition before giving Ernie's Plumbing your business. **

Things went very well. I contacted them on Monday, 21 Oct; although they were booked, they scheduled me for the first call Tuesday morning, 8 AM - this was okay, as I had temporarily stopped the leak with teflon tape. The plumber showed up right on time. He took one look, confirmed the problem, stated he'd stopped at the store and picked up the correct valve, and went to work. Total time to resolve was only about 20 minutes from the time he cut off the water to the time we had water through the refrigerator. As stated, the work was excellent. My only qualm was the cost - $205 for 20 minutes, even with the $25 discount for being an Angie's List member. However, I have to say I haven't hired a plumber in nearly 20 years, so that may be a totally reasonable rate!

We had an estimate from another company, but they wanted to jack hammer through our floor. We had Ernie's come out and they resented another option that wouldn't cost as much and would save us from future issues. They were very professional throughout the experience and showed up when they said they would. Jason was the plumber that came in to fix our problem and was there all day to make sure everything was done right. Great company that helped us when we really needed it!

Technician did arrive promptly within the scheduled time and on the same day the request for service was initially made. I give the company an "A" for availability and promptness. However, that is about as far as the 'good' grades goes. The technician worked for a little over an hour attempting to locate the possible leak. After testing, his best guess was some where either side of an interior wall. Further testing would be required to "pin point" the exact location which would require additional assistance when they come out the following day to begin the repair. I felt pressured to sign a service repair quote in order to have the current locate fee of $225 deducted from the total cost of completed repair work. The technician wrote up a quote for $2,970 that included NO warranty for leak locate, only one, two foot by two foot hole in the slab, no replacement of flooring (standard), only rough fill-in of concrete removed and with unknown additional cost for larger or other holes needed to fix the leak. Also, I was not allowed to have a copy of the written quote but was allowed to take a picture. Within an hour of the technician leaving I regretted signing the quote. I called Ernie's Plumbing to cancel the service and asked them what the fee would be and was told there would not be one. Moments after that phone call, the representative called back and stated there WOULD be a $225 free for the leak locate service. We argued the fact that the leak was NOT located, only a general area suggested. After a company manager got involved it was agreed there would be no charge for the service call. Thank you Ernie's! Another plumbing service pin pointed the leak, noting it was some six feet away from the 'general' location given by Ernie's Plumbing. No concrete or flooring needed to be demolished; only a 4 foot water line reroute along an exterior wall fixed the leak for under $1,200. Had Ernie's attempted the repair in the spot they indicated there bill would have ended up being will over the original quote (my guess by 2 or 3 times) and that would not have included possibly having to replacing 1,200 sq ft of hardwood flooring had they 'needed' to dig up that side of the interior wall. I am oh so glad I trusted my gut feeling and canceled the repair with Ernie's Plumbing.

Greg arrived as scheduled and was polite and pleasant. After describing the situation to him, he took over, and maybe 20 minutes later, he was done. The sink runs perfectly now, and in fact, the work has a 90 day warranty in case there's an issue (there won't be I'm confident!). Highly recommend Ernie's and Greg.

I have been a Ernie's customer for quite some time. Their staff & personnel have always been excellent to me and I have always been very happy with their service. This time they out did theirselves in hiring the most professional young man I have ever had the pleasure of working with! This plumber #564, by the name of Adam, first asked me if he could put in a bid to do the repipeing in my front yard & to install my new water heater. He had come out to repair the broken pipe on the old water heater and was there working on the old heater while I was receiving bids from other plumbing companies who were there to submit their bids for the larger plumbing project. I had not had time to make an appointment for a bid with Ernie's yet. I called three other companies for bids. One, (reportedly the best plumbing company in the DFW area), refused to come out because my old house was 60 years old & had all galvanized pipes. The second quoted me an outrageous price & informed me they would be tearing up 3 walls. The third said they would be tearing up 4 walls and all my rose bushes but would only charge me a ridiculously low & questionable price & timeline for the repairs. Adam quoted me a fair price, explained he would not have to touch any walls, and explained exactly what he would need to do and how long it would take. I accepted his bid and Ernie's dig crew arrived exactly on time and did an amazing job of opening up a trench in my front yard. They were very quick & very professional! Then Adam arrived also on time every time and began the repairs & installations needed. He was the most kind, patient and professional workman I have ever dealt with. He explained everything he did and why he was doing it. At times, he had to really work around those old galvanized pipes, but persevered. I watched him work when I could, which he cheerfully allowed me do. His work was stellar! Because of the old pipes, he had to take longer, but would not rush his job. He made sure all the repairs were correct and top notch. He & Ernie's have made this plumbing ordeal for me a pleasant experience & I don't know many people that can say that about having to do a major plumbing job! Would I recommend Ernie's? Always!! I will be a Ernie's customer for years to come.

Ernie's plumbing responded to a leak I had under my foundation. They assessed the problem and returned the next morning for the repair. They had problems locating the pipes that went through the foundation resulting in about 10 holes cut in my drywall. Once they were able to locate the pipes the repair went fairly quickly. I opted for the by-pass through the attic. Seemed a little expensive but everyone has to make a living and pay bills. Overall, the service was adequate.

They were able to come out the same day I called and showed up as scheduled. Neal spent a significant amount of time trying to identify the cause of the gas leak behind range and offering me options on potential next steps when the leak spray did not show any results. Ultimately, we were able to determine the leak resulted from a small hole in a rib in the flex line and would leak dependent on the specific position of the line. Neal did not have the replacement part on his truck but went out, made the purchase, and immediately returned to install the new flex line, solving the problem.

Curtis Jackson was very knowledgeable and helpful. Had he not had experience with new home construction, the job could've easily been derailed. Even though we made changes in the middle of the job, he worked with us to come up with a workable solution. Curtis went above and beyond the call of duty!

Except as noted in the following paragraph, Doug did the quality job that you would expect a plumber to do. I would expect any plumber worth his salt to get an 'A' rating on all but price. For that, and his punctuality, I would give this review an 'A'. HOWEVER, BUYER BEWARE! For what he did, the price of $345 was outrageous, as was $150 for just the new fill valve and flapper in the water tank. For any plumbing company on Angie's List there are only 4 points of comparison - call it C-PAAP: Communication (between the customer and the office, and between the office and the plumber/contractor), Punctuality (showing up when scheduled, completion of work in a timely manner and on schedule), Aptitude (quality of workmanship), Attitude (being courteous and professional) and Price. Since all companies should get ‘A’s on the first four, the only factor that should differentiate one from the other is Price. It shouldn't have cost any more than $150 to do the job since it only took him an hour. For example, if I had hired 'All Metroplex Plumbing' they would have only charged $125 for the service call plus one hour labor, plus parts (if any). Another company would only have charged $135 for two hours of plumbing labor. Ernie’s website says that if you mention Tracking # 1009 you’ll get $25.00 off any service, but even that doesn’t even come close to bringing the price down to an acceptable level. It also says that you can decide (when the plumber gets to your house or business), then or later, if you want them to perform the service, they say that their estimates are good for 30 days. If you want to shop their price around with other plumbers! After Doug left, and we had flushed the toilet a couple times, the water in the tank began to slowly drain out because the 'flapper valve' chain to the flush handle arm (inside the water tank) came loose because he failed to crimp the end of the chain closed so that it couldn't fall off. If we had gone on vacation for a week or two after Doug left, without flushing the toilet again, we would have returned to find that we had acquired an enormous water bill because the water would have been running constantly trying to refill the tank. I don't understand how Angie's List can give them an 'A' rating since there are so many customers who have been so negative on them! Out of a total of 851 reviews (as of 10/25/15), there were 41 'F's (4.8%), 23 'D's (2.7%), 22 'C's (2.6%) and 39 ‘B's (4.6%). The vast majority of irate customers were those who complained about the outrageous prices! Only 716 were 'A's (84%). (All numbers are approximate, and the percentages don't equal 100 due to rounding errors.) They prey on your being a captive-audience-customer who’s desperate to have a plumbing issue fixed without any further delay, especially since you may not want to go through the time consuming process of scheduling another estimate. Their pricing practice is nothing less that ‘Operation Rip-off’. Care to be a future victim of their exorbitant pricing? By contrast, when you take a look at the Angie’s List map of customer locations and ratings for 'All Metroplex Plumbing', every one of their 163 reviews were ‘A’s, with the exception of only one, which was a ‘B’! Their phone number in Lewisville is 214-717-9911. I’ve used him before and tried to use him again this time, but his schedule was filled up for the next several days. P.S.: I’ll update this review if Ernie reduces my bill to $150 by giving me the refund I require.

Called yesterday around 12:00 pm. Was told I would have someone at my house today (10/27) between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. I received a call around 10:00 saying they were behind but I was next on the list. At 12:15 I received a call that service was on the way. Repairman arrived around 12:45. Repairman left around 3:15. Probably about 45 minutes of this time was spent in the truck/outside of the house. Price seems high for the necessary parts and the labor involved. The repair itself seemed to go well. In addition to re-setting the toilet, I had a crack in the flange that required replacement. Seems to have repaired the leak from the toilet. Time will tell. I also received an estimate to clean a drain (which I declined) for $250 which could be discounted to $225 since I was a repeat customer.

At 12:30, I received a follow-up call from Ernie's saying the plumber was running late, but that I was next on the list. I said fine. At 4p I hadn't heard anything, and I called to check in. I reiterated again that I needed a plumber today or would have called someone else this morning. I was assured someone would be out today. Then at approximately 5p, I receive a call indicating they can't make it today. Now I have no time to call another plumber today. The problem will grow worse overnight. I won't contact Ernie's plumbing again.

Bryan arrived promptly, was friendly and professional, and got right to work. He had to deal with our tiny crawlspace but managed it with a smile. He found the problem quickly, explained what was needed and what it would cost, and took care of it quickly and professionally. Plus he was great with our rambunctious dog. Price was reasonable, considering its plumbing and that always costs you. Will use this company again.

This provider is great! I called the provider at 10:15 am today . A technician was at my house in 20 minutes after my call to them! The technician was Mike #528. He gave a good estimate and honored my Angie's list coupon for $25 off. He was very friendly ,helpful and knowledgeable. He also quickly got all the supplies to complete the job and communicated very effectively. I can now use my hot water side of my shower without pliers!! I also have three brand new knobs in my shower and they look great. I will use Ernie's Plumbing again for all my plumbing needs.

I can't say enough about the services of Ernie's Plumbing, especially Joey and Shawn. I had a slab leak that was very difficult to find, but they spent the time and energy to figure out the problem. Even staying until 7pm that night. Unfortunately, I have a older home and eventually had to replace the main line. Joey re-arranged his schedule to be able to come fix my repair as his first stop of the day. You guys are awesome!! Keep up the good work.

This is a great company for plumbing needs! Damien was sent to my home to do the work I needed. He is very courteous, informative, and professional. My home is 40+ years old, so there are challenges in replacing plumbing fixtures! Damien proposed several options to update the bathroom areas. He did excellent work! I highly recommend this company, and especially Damien!

Joey Polk came and did the work. He did an excellent job and hit some obstacles, but thoroughly explained the issue and I did not feel that he was over repairing. The work lasted all day and he was pleasant until the end. Great Job !!!

Ernie's Plumbing technician, Jeff Employee # 496, arrived at the scheduled time and repaired the gas leak and installed a shutoff value in the gas line to the pool heater. Jeff was very cordial, informative and accomplished the work in a very expeditiously matter. I highly recommend Ernie's and especially Jeff.
