I worked with James from Air Clinic and also received pricing from a well respected larger HVAC company. We selected Air Clinic as they were extremely responsive and willing to spend time with us reviewing 6 different Trane and 6 different Lennox models. James was very patient and willing to review the prices, features and efficiencies, in order to arrive at a solution we felt was good for us. We selected a 4 Ton Trane XR-17 (17 Seer system), along with the matching Tane Evaporator Coil and higher efficiency furnace. The workers that replaced the old Carrier system (12.5 year old that had an evap coil leak and was Freon based) were very professional. They worked from 10am till the job was completed, 12 Midnight. I was up in the attic with them for several hours trying to help them in small ways. They did a very good job installing the system, sealing the duct work, not just with zip ties but with a rubberized cement, both inside and outside the duct work. This, as was explained to me, reduces air leaks where the duct work connects to the unit. When completed the workers took every piece of the old unit away with them and vacuumed the attic area where they worked. Several days later a separate quality control inspector from Air Clinic came by and balanced the airflow in the house, and checked the work performed. The QC inspector found one item missed and changed out a circuit breaker that needed replacing. Overall I was very pleased with the work and the choices we made. I would recommend Air Clinic and plan on using them in the future.

Unfortunately my phone number was not given to the service company--showed up unexpectedly but grateful he did--my nanny was there and she reported the man was very professional and explained and showed her what the proBlem was--I was expecting a higher estimate since our system is 13 years old--he even fixed our downstairs system-the original problem was the upstairs a/c--I will use this's company again!!!

The initial installation seemed fine, though the installation crew seemed a bit rag-tag. Then, the "quality control" technician came out and approved the installation team's work. Then, a few days after the quality check, we discovered condensate water from the new A/C unit seeping out of our bar area into the living room. By that time, a lot of water had gotten into the wood floor, into the walls, and in the end the damage was over $15,000. Meanwhile, we had guys in haz-mat suits pulling off wall board, pulling up flooring, and using big dryer fans day and night for a week or so. In addition to all of the ruined flooring, They even found some mold behind a picture when all was said and done. A few days later, a City of Dallas inspector came out to inspect the installation (normal, routine inspection) and told us that Air Clinic had committed two (2) city code violations involving the condensate drainage. We called Air Clinic and asked them to redo the drainage line per City of Dallas Code. Another AirClinic tech came out, grumped about Dallas inspectors being too picky, (no apology for our leak problems) and made a jury-rigged adjustment to the drain line. We called the city again and asked them to take a look at the new rigging. The inspector came out, took one look, cursed under his breath and slapped Air Clinic with a $75 fine for not doing the job right a second time. He left another red tag, of course. But, this time, I got him to explain to ME exactly what would be required to meet city code. I then called AirClinic and asked them to come out again and fix the problem the right way. They sent the tech back, did what I told them to do, but then handed me a bill for another $200, because they said they hadn't figured on having to meet city code in their initial proposal. I told them they had agreed to meet all codes. They grumped again, but went away without the additional payment. A couple of weeks later, we realized that the unit was not cooling well anymore. AirClinic sent out a tech, who declared that the new unit was losing coolant. He then discovered a leak in the major cooling coil in the attic unit. It was replaced under warranty in about half a day. We never discovered whether the leaking coil was Trane's fault or whether it had been mistreated during installation. After all of that, I asked AirClinic to reimburse us for our $2,500 insurance deductible for all of the restoration work. Basically, they just refused, saying that despite the the two mistakes they made in installing drainage from the air-conditioner, the leak couldn't have possibley been their fault. So, if you need a new air conditioner, and you think the experience I described above would be a lot of fun, you should definitely call Air Clinic.

Response from AirClinic Air Conditioning & Heating Inc
We would first like reach out to all Angie's List members and say that this one FALSE review in no way represents the way Air Clinic conducts business, as our reviews speak for themselves. Mr. [member name removed] failed to mention that this case went to court and was decided in Air Clinics favor. Now he's slandering Air Clinics name all over the internet after he tried and failed to blackmail us into paying his $2500 deductible. The water leak that occurred was a plumbing issue and this was confirmed by a plumber Mr. [member name removed] hired. As for the city inspection, each city has different codes and procedure's on how things should be done to code. Air Clinic tied into the existing condensate drain line just like the old system had been done (this is up to code in almost every city other than Dallas). I can assure you, Mr. [member name removed] was not billed for an additional $200 dollars for the work being done, all work and parts were and still are under warranty. In regard to the coil being replaced under warranty with Trane, this is not uncommon and happens with all manufacturers. Systems and coils are man made parts and we all know failures can occur from time to time. It's unfortunate that it happened in this case with Mr. Turner, but that's why Trane has a 10 year manufacturer warranty on all new systems. Finally, I just want to point out that this review was submitted a year after the system was installed and a few days after Mr. Turner became an Angie's List member just to post this review. Please look up Air Clinic reviews on Better Business Bureau, HomeAdvisor, along with Angie's List. You will see what kind of company Air Clinic really is and strives to be everyday serving all of DFW.

I called Air Clinic after a bad experience with A-US Air (sent by AHS). The air was blowing but not cooling. The Air Clinic technician, Don, checked the unit outside and in the attic. He adjusted the fan blades, recharged the system and gave me some good advice about maintenance. Very pleased.

Repairman was very polite and professional. I told him that I saw their $20 service call ad on Angies List and that since my unit was less than 2 years old, that part was under warranty and would be free for me. He checked the unit out and said that the Defroster on the heat pump was out and that Lennox had this problem with all of these units and that I would need to wait for the part to come in. He put my heat on Emergency Heat (costs a lot more to run in that mode) but since it was sleeting and icy outside, I didn't argue. Repairman returned in about 2 weeks to replace the defroster. When he gave me the bill, he charged me $70 for the defroster (supposed to be free for me) and $50 for the service call. Called again about a week later because the unit was still not working right and was still blowing cold air. I asked that the same repairman come back but he was in the hospital. Owner answered the phone and was quite rude to me. Sent another guy out who said that he just wanted to put it back on Emergency Heat again. I had already gotten a $350 January electric bill and a $250 February electric bill (I have never received an electric bill over $150 since the unit was installed 2 years ago. I had used this same company about 2 years ago with my Bryant heat pump and had found them on Angies and was so satisfied with them that I have been recommending them to all of my clients. I know that this is the same owner but I wasn't treated the same this time and my heat pump is still not working right. He wants to charge me to come out again to fix it but since that is his stance, I most probably will just call someone else to repair it.

This review is far from accurate. 1) The $20 service call is purchased through the Store front on Angies list. 2) This homeowner is a new customer, we did not install her existing system or service her old system. The first time we went to her home we found a bad defrost control board and put her thermostat on emergency heat. The auxiliary heat was not wired correctly, original tech asked her twice if she wanted it wired properly. She declined letting him know it has been that way since installed. We did not charge a fee for that trip. The board was under warranty and ordered, 2 weeks later it came in and original tech installed. The fee of 69.95 was labor and the 50.00 was a pick up fee. That is on the work order that customer signed and paid for. Weeks later customer called and demanded that the original tech return and fix her Heat pump. I asked what was wrong and she was unclear and very agitated. I told her the original tech was at ER and could not come back. I sent another tech, customer would not let tech go in the attic and look at the Air handler. She was abusive towards him and I advised tech to leave. I have not heard from customer again until this review. We show our customers respect and expect the same in return.

The owner came to our home the week of Mothers Day and I am so sorry I am just now writing this. My husbands grandmother was scheduled to be at our home for Mothers Day. Our air conditioner went out the week of Mothers Day and could not be replaced before Mothers Day. We had considered canceling our Mothers Day family get together do to no air while the owner of the company was at our house we talked about how important it was for Grandma to spend mothers day with us. The owner offered to go home which was not close to our home and picked up a portable unit for us to use until they could replace the unit the following week and we could now keep the family event as scheduled for Mothers day. My husband grandmother passed away tonight after a short illness. I am so thankful we had Mothers Day together and that the owner understood how important this was to us. All I can say is thank you and the kindness he showed will be in my heart forever.

I would highly recommend Air Clinic to anyone looking for a new A/C unit. We had ours installed in April of this year and it has worked great. However after the installation the heater was not working properly, which we discovered on a day when 4 inches of sleet and frozen rain had covered the DFW area. I called Air Clinic first thing in the morning and they had a service technician immediately call us. Despite the adverse road conditions he came out to our within an hour, drove all the way back to the shop in Arlington for a part and then came back again to our house in Grapevine. Not only were we amazed the technician came out once on day when the whole city had shutdown but coming back twice was above and beyond what we ever expected. It truly goes without saying how grateful we were, especially considering that night the temperature dipped down into the low teens. Thanks for the solid customer service!

We hate loosing business and customers. Whenever you fill a system with Freon, it re pressurizes and can cause a larger leak in an older unit. It was unfortunate it happened to your system. We only have 4 crews and do at least 4 installs everyday. Sometimes we just can't get to the install until the next few days. I'm sorry it sounded like we were pushy, not our intent. Pricing is of course our specialty. We never gouge our customers and always provide excellent service. If we mess up... we fix or repair it.

I called Air Clinic the morning of 7/29/13 and they scheduled me for an appointment that same day. I based my decision on selecting Air Clinic by looking at reviews of comparable contractors. Though they had a number of reviews there were other contractors which had many more. I decided to try Air Clinic because even though they had fewer reviews the majority were positive. The selection was a good choice and I would definitely use them again.

I thought it went very well. The Tech was on time and polite. He was very informative. He corrected the cooling problem by adding additional freon. I've also been having problems with the heater during the winter. It would try to come on, but wouldn't. The pilot/gas would come on and I could see it lit up inside where it was gettnig hot. Then, when the motor would try to start the fan, it would act like it was going to start and then shut off. It would repeat this cycle over and over again and not come on. However, if I turned the system off completely, via the thermostat, and left it off for a few minutes, and then turned it back on, it would start up...the fan motor would blow the hot air. It just would not operate properly on the thermostats "auto" setting. So last winter I bought a new thermostat, hopething this would correct the problem, but it did not. One feature the new thermostat had, however, was a setting called "Emergency". The heater would not run on the "auto" setting, however, everytime I set it to the "Emergency" setting, it would come right on. The only problem with this process was that I would go to sleep and wake up to an over-heated house. So I was having to stay up until the house was nice and toasty, then turn the setting to off and go to sleep. ...then...wake up cold and turn the setting back to "Emergency" until the house was warm again and then turn it off. I have two cats, so when I would leave for work, I would worry about them getting cold, but I could not leave for work with the heater running for 8+ hours and burn them up either. The Technician told me I had the wrong type of thermostat for my system. he said it was a Heat Pump thermostat, but I did not have a Heat Pump system. So not I have to go get aother new thermostat and see if this corrects the issue. If it doesn't, I will be calling Air Clinic back this winter to see what we can do to fix the heater. I rated the price a "C" only because "C" was listed as "FAIR". I'm in a one income household so I dont have very much money and try to get by with as little as possible. I wish I had unlimited funds. I would have gone with a new unit or gotten the complete systems leak testing done because I did feel as though I could trust the Tech's work and honesty and quality. Update: 4/28/14....I purchased a new thermostat (non-heat pump) and the issue with my heater is still not resolved. It will usually only come on after I turn the system to OFF for approximately 30 mins and then turn it to ON. I had a feeling the thermostat was not really the main issue, but wanted to give the tech the benefit of doubt. The reason I say that I don't think the thermostat was the real issue is becasue I had the issue prior to installing the 'heat-pump' thermostat (I had the correct type thermostat originally then the problem first presented itself). I only wish that the tech had taken the time to actually check out the heater to confirm what the real issue was instead of just assuming it was the thermostat. I do not have the money to have them come bak out at this time. Maybe by the winter I will have the funds.
Description of Work: He checked the level of freon in the unit. He said that the freon level was at about 50%. He informed me that the inside unit was approximately 20 years old and recommended that it be replaced. He also offered to do a complete systems check for any leaks for approximately $180.00. I passed on the leak check. He added the needed freon. He also hosed off the outside unit.

I was really pleased with them! I got three bids on the system and they were about $1000 cheaper than the other two bids. I called them because I checked on Angie's list and found out that they had very good customer service reviews. I experienced the same thing. They came out when they said they would. My situation was my air conditioner went out a week earlier and I had a home warranty company that I was dealing with and they ended up denying my claim. I called Air clinic within an hour after they denied my claim. He told me that he would come out that evening and look at it. He did. He told me he could have it fixed the next day and they did. It was Monday when he came out to look at and he told me it would be Tuesday late afternoon or evening before he could get the new unit over to my house. As it turned out it was like 6 or 6:30 on Tuesday when he called and told me he was on the way with the unit. He worked the evening and they didn't leave my house until 9:30 or 10 that evening. They did the work. They were very courteous, professional and helpful. I couldn't be more pleased with them!

After getting 8 bids from local top rated Angies list companies, I went with Air Clinic. They had the best price, were very professional and very knowledgeable. James Trussell, the salesman/estimator, took his time in examining my old system, answered all my questions to my satisfaction and did not try to sell me more than what I wanted. The installers showed up on time, were very courteous and knew what they were doing. Took about 4.5 hours to complete the job and cleaned up afterwards. The whole process and job went much better than I expected and would highly recommend them. One of my wifes co-workers had her system replaced after we told her about Air Clinic.

They did an excellent job on the install of both units wife was happy to have air conditioning again. Then they sent another tech out a few days just to verify if the install was done correctly. From the salesmen to the techs everyone was friendly and courteous. They didn't ask for a cent until the job was completely done, alot of companies could learn from their great service. Don't think I'll need to call anyone else to do my AC repair and trust I've had several other companies that worked on my old unit that will not ever get a call from me again.
Description of Work: Replaced the Air handler and Heat pump.

James Trussell came to my home and spent a LOT of time explaining options for new systems. I was looking for bids and he was the first person to talk with me about the process; I had a lot of questions and he was very patient, professional and seemed eager for me to really understand what I'd be getting. I have not yet replaced my system but would absolutely call Air Clinic back when I'm ready.
