General Contracting, Cabinet & Countertop design construction finish and installation.
This was the most pleasant experience we had while updating our kitchen. They allowed me to take home big samples to see what we would like and we had no issues with scheduling. They came and took measurements and were very punctual when the counter tops came in. They called several times to see if we were ready for them (we were still installing the cabinets) and they came as soon as we were available. All the counter tops fit exact and they even removed the bar top for us for free before installing the new one. They did a great job cleaning up and didn't damage anything during the process. I would highly recommend.
Description of Work: We had new counter tops installed in our kitchen.

Richard Cazares met with us several times before starting the job so we could nail down the original price as closely as possible. I cannot stress enough the importance of good communication and record-keeping on both the part of contractor and homeowner. We made a costly mistake on clarifying the type of finish we wanted on the cabinets and could have saved ourselves a big surprise 2/3rds of the way through the project but felt the added cost was worth it. I suggest you have a notebook complete with pictures of what you want, copies of all checks cut to the contactor and a running total of the balance due, as well as notes of all conversations and details to help keep the job up to date when changes are discussed. We kept all receipts and the contractor made change orders as necessary which helped us control costs. We called when the tear-out was complete and the workers came in to begin electrical and plumbing. The inspectors will give you copies of their reports-keep the originals and give your contractor a copy. I also required a copy of his liability insurance before the work started. Overall, the job went smoothly and we had no problems with the basic installation. There are always unforseen problems that crop up during a remodel that need to be addressed and being accessible by phone is a must. He was good about contacting us every time there was a need for our opinion or consultation. He even went above his job requirements with keeping our 2 dogs safe and controlling access for sub-contractors. The only frustration we faced was the length of the job which took 6 months to finish. We had a tentative completion date of 2 months in the original bid. We did add some changes and extra work and knew there would be delays beyond anyone's control (the contractor became ill for a few weeks during the job) and weather played a factor in the delays. Overall, the end result was far beyond our expectations in terms of beauty and workmanship. He is a master cabinetmaker and his attention to detail is evident in everything in the kitchen. All doors, pull-out drawers, the pull-out work station, and special storage features that were incorporated into the area perform flawlessly. His creative ideas and special cabinet designs truly made our kitchen a beautiful unique work of art and function and the "WOW" factor is definitly there. We love the new workspace and enjoy it very much. It is definitely our favorite area in the house (so far)! Richard was easy to talk to and listened to our needs and wants as well as making suggestions to maximize the use of our space. If you want quality guaranteed work and understand that there is no hurrying perfection- Texas Tops is the company to use !
Description of Work: This price did not include the cost of appliances or the tear-out. The bid was for a kitchen remodel complete with drawings, installation of appliances, and clean-up. The initial bid was for a hickory cabinet system with soft close hinges on all doors and drawers, granite counter tops, a seating area with a bar with a roll-out work station, a pantry with roll-out drawers and rain glass in two of the upper cabinet doors. We also wanted a direct line from the hot water heater in the middle of the house to run directly into the kitchen faucet and dishwasher area for immediate hot water. Another requirement was installion of a Solatube skylight and new can lighting in the ceiling and lighting under the cabinets. We added a tile floor extending into a sunroom that was attached to the area, installation of a R/O water system, as well as a custom vertical tray rack above the microwave. We required building permits, inspection reports, proof of liability insurance and lein releases from all sub-contractors as part to the work.
