S & R CUSTOM CABINETS

I was given S & R Cabinet's phone # by a marble place, and after getting one quote that I thought was outreagous, I went by S & R with my measurements and talked to Ronnie (the owner). He was very nice, had a program on his computer to draw off my cabinets and give me a quote. I thought it was reasonable. When the time came closer to needing the cabinets built, I wanted him to come measure mine just to double check them. I told him I wanted it the same height, same drawers and everything. He was suppose to come at 8:00 that morning to measure. He didn't show, so I called about 8:20 and he answered the phone. I asked why he wasn't here to measure, and he had "forgotten", and offered to head this way to measure. I had to leave at 8:30 to go to work, so he came the next morning. His guys delivered my cabinets so I could stain and varnish them. I did notice that the drawers were much smaller than my current ones. I should have measured the whole cabinet, because he basically built a standard cabinet base which was about 4 inches taller than other one was. We are going to have to move my vanity light up so the mirror will fit, and it won't look off balance. I had everyone lined up- tear out the shower one day, next day install the cabinets and the marble shower and vanity top. I had checked with Ronnie earlier in the week to see if he could put them in on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. He said either one would work for him. I called and spoke to his wife Thursday afternoon to see if he could come Friday morning around 8:30 to get the cabinets in before the marble guy came. I had initially asked for him, and she said he wasn't there- but then she was asking him questions. He told her he would come at 8:30. My husband stayed home from work Friday to be there when all the work was done. Ronnie had not shown up by the time I left for work at 8:30. My husband called at 9:30 to let me know he still wasn't there. He never showed that day. I tried to call him, left messages, and emailed him. NOTHING. Never called Saturday either, so Monday morning I went by his shop before I had to go to work. He said he had a custody hearing he found out about on Thursday night that he had to be at on Friday all day, and couldn't answer his phone. Even showed me some kind of card he had in his drawer from it. Then I told him he had not made my cabinet the size I wanted. He offered to trim off the bottom- which would have messed it up, offered to make another one- did not want to go through all that work again. I should have taken him up on his offer to refund all my money- but I didn't feel right about that. He wasn't even the one that installed the cabinets anyway- he sent two guys to do it. Very unorganized person. His cabinet work was good, but I feel like I paid for a custom cabinet and got a standard cabinet. The marble place is not recommending him to anyone now, it inconvenienced them as well because they had to come back out after the cabinet was installed to put the top on.
