I don't personally like her but she is a good doctor. It's the staff that I don't like. She really is a good pediatrician. My daughter started talking really, really young and not very many people could understand her and she could so that was kind of a cool thing. It is like a network of doctors that work in that building, and it's actually the staff that works close to her door that I don't like. No matter when my daughter was sick, whether it was after office hours or usually late at night, they always got back to me right away, they don't make me wait too long to hear back when my kid is really sick. They have a sick room for the kids. My daughter was sick one time and one of the children that was sick there threw up on the floor and it took them a long time to clean it up, and they have toys in the area. They tried to bill me twice a couple of times.
Description of Work: My daughter goes to Panhandle Pediatric doctor Mariada George. The last time that she saw Billie was when she had her last vaccination right after 2 years old. She won't see her until she's 4.

In late October 2012, Dr. Young prescribed Zantac for my son's reflux, which worked great for a while. My son has started exhibiting some of the symptoms again (coughing and throwing up) recently (March 2013). It dawned on me that in all the visits we've been to Dr. Young's office since the prescription in October, not once has anyone asked how my son is doing on the medication. I'm assuming they are thinking "no news is good news", but that is not an acceptable level of care for my son.
Description of Work: I am very frustrated with Dr. Young and his office. I rarely see Dr. Young when we take in my nearly 2-year old son for an appointment. Since my son was born, we have seen him 3-4 times, but have visited his office probably 12-15 times more than that. It appears to me that Dr. Young wants to see as many patients in a day as possible, so if you want him to spend any time with you, it's nearly impossible. I'm a first-time mother and a Type A personality, so I write down all my questions between visits. At one appointment, I had around 12-15 questions. By the 3rd question, Dr. Young was no longer listening and I had to repeat the question 3 times to get an answer. I should have followed my intuition then and switched pediatricians, but I didn't. I am trying to do that now, but it's proving to be nearly impossible to get another pediatrician to take a toddler as a new patient without a newborn sibling. Additionally, the appointments are rarely on time. There was even one time when one of my son's well-check appointments (set up 3-6 months in advance) mysteriously changed times. Even though we had several receipts printed from their office showing the next appointment at the originally scheduled time, they would not honor that. When I showed the receipts upon our arrival, we never received an explanation.

My 14 year old son has been a patient of Dr Young's since he was born. We have had nothing but excellent care from him and the other Drs in his practice. One of my favorite things about Dr Young is that he does not push pharmaceuticals for anything and everything(especially antibiotics), only when needed and will be helpful. He also trusts a parents instincts about a child. He has told me and quot;A parent knows their child better than anyone and if you think something is wrong with them, I take that very seriously because parents are almost always right.and quot; This attitude is priceless and rare in a Dr. He has treated my son for third degree burns, stitches, RSV, sodium deficiency, and run of the mill getting sick. He has always been right on the money and I have never been dissappointed. He is also very knowledgeable about sports injuries which is great because my son is a student athlete. His practice is very busy and waiting room times can be long, but I dont trust my childs care to anyone else. I highly recomend Dr. Young and Panhandle Pediatrics.
Description of Work: My son was seen by Dr Young as a follow up for dizzy spells.
