I do not write many reviews but excellent service and a company does what they say they will do is rare this day and time. I have used Cleaning Services for over 20-years in other Cities, some by Individually owned home based businesses and also Franchisee Companies like Merry Maids. I am new to Amarillo and had no references from people to go by so I used Angie's List and another well know company for finding companies to perform specific services. The latter was a complete mess, filled out a form and on a Saturday night at 8:30pm I get a call from a company. Very bad way to get someones business. Then I used Angie's List. Merry Maids had several very good reviews and one negative review only. After reading this one bad review and using common sense it was apparent that no one could have pleased this customer. I called and talked with the owner and after a brief conversation it was best that she needed to come and see how my place was concerning how clean I keep it because how was she to know if her employees might be walking into a nasty place. Also I was used to a flat-rate for cleaning every two-weeks and she advised an hourly rate. Of course at first I did not like that method because some companies who use that method can just take there time and drag things out. Well, to make a long story short the owner came over, and after meeting with her, discussing how long she has been in business, turnover and going with the hourly rate there was no doubt that I would do business with Merry Maids. The cleaning crew are two ladies who bring everything to clean my apartment. They do a detail cleaning the first time then do a deep cleaning on one room only each time thereafter. They are very professional, polite and work very hard and do not just take there time. So if you are needing someone to clean your home or apartment then Merry Maids will make this part of your life stress free. In closing you can trust the cleaning ladies, period.

Overall, they are great. I need to point out omissions, but they are usually responsive. They have been able to come on short notice, and I appreciate that!

They did a fantastic job! I cannot say enough good things about their service. They were thorough and made the house sparkle.

I've never used a house cleaning service before, so I didn't know that most places require you to call much earlier in advance. I thought I was lucky that merry maids had someone cancel on them and were available to clean my apartment only 2 days after I called. I was told basic cleaning would be $73/hr and I reserved them for 2 hours. I was told the two person cleaning team would arrive at 11:30 am. On the day of the service, they team didn't show up until 12:00. They may have shown up at 11:50 but they had the wrong address and had to call me to get the right one. Anyways, my apartment was pretty messy. I told them this before I let them into the apartment. There was a lot of trash everywhere, but they still got to work and started picking everything up. There was about 10 minutes of conversation where they asked me how the apartment got in that condition and how long it had been since I last cleaned up. During all of this they were cleaning. I told them I had to go study and confirmed that I had them for 2 hours. I left and told them I'd be back before the two hour mark. At 1:55 I got back to my apartment to find that very little else had been done after I left. Nothing had been cleaned. I looked around and found a note that said "I'm sorry but the more I looked around I really feel like the owner need to come look at the place before we clean it. PS call the office to set up a time for her to come by. 373-7387." I had a few issues with this. First, they left in the middle of a job. I understand that it was probably a lot dirtier than anything else they had cleaned, but still couldn't they have told me that when they first saw it? Also, why leave the note? I know the team knew my phone number because they called me when they got lost. Why couldn't they have called me when they decided to stop cleaning? Also I don't understand the owner part. Were they saying that the owner of the apt needed to see the place or if the owner of the company needed to? My landlord already knew the place was pretty bad and I cleared it with them to use a cleaning service. If they were talking about the company, then I would have been open to any new rates. All of this could have been cleared up if they had just called me when they decided this instead of just leaving and not giving me any notice. Anyways, I ended up cleaning my place myself. It took me 1 hour to pick up the trash and clothes. I had a friend then come and help me vacuum and spray and wipe everything down which took another 2 hours. I feel if they had just stayed and done the job I hired them to do, that they could have gotten far enough where I still would of had to tidy up a bit, but that I would have been satisfied enough to pay them their dues. Overall I can't comment on the quality of their service, but as far as their professionalism goes, I was very unsatisfied.
