I had scheduled my move with another company but when they were not answering their phone or returning any of eight calls that I made to them the day before my move, I started looking for another mover. The woman at Maximum Movers said that they could make time to have two trucks and four men on my job the next day starting at about 11:00 AM. They were going to charge $170.00 per hour for their services. Beginning at about 10:00 AM on the day of the move, I got a call from her just about every hour telling me that they had run into problems and it would be another hour or two before they would be on my job. The first truck showed up at 4:00PM. The second truck was 15 minutes later. As it turns out, she billed for both trucks starting at 4:00 PM. These four men may be the four slowest and least careful movers that you might ever dread appearing on your job. After the first truck arrived, it was 48 minutes before the first piece of furniture was loaded onto the truck. They had plenty of time to talk, laugh, go out to the side of my house and make long phone calls, hide in the cab of their trucks and eat their Kentucky fried chicken and seemingly anything else except put my furniture on their trucks. Rather than write a book about what all Maximum Movers did wrong I am going to list five of the worst. 1.) They used almost NO MOVING BLANKETS to protect the furniture. They wrapped the big pieces in plastic wrap (with NO MOVING BLANKET) and pretended like that was going to prevent the dozens of scrapes, scuffs and dings that my furniture suffered at their careless hands. 2.) I wrapped my mattresses and box springs in plastic bags to keep them from getting soiled. When they thought that I was not looking, they pushed and drug the items on the sidewalk, the bed of their trucks and on the grass. Even after I asked them not to. I even went as far as asking them if they had arm straps to help them carry mattresses and they said that they do but they don't like using them. 3.) They took the carved side boards of a sleigh bed and pressed the decorative sides together again without ANYTHING between them to prevent damage,....THEY DUCT TAPED THEM TOGETHER! Not only did they scratch, they were speckled with duct tape adhesive after the move. 4.) They turned one dining room arm chair upside down onto another so the the wooden arms were rubbing against each other. And yet again they didn't do one thing to protect the two chairs. They simply plastic wrapped them together. 5.) And lastly They did everything that they could to drag their feet. I had about 150 pack boxes and they tried to put them all on the same truck. So, one guy would bring the dolly into the house while the second guy would lean the boxes over to make it easy to load the dolly. The second guy would then stay in the house for the four or five minutes that it would take the first guy to take his load into the truck and then come back. How about grabbing the other dolly and both guys haul boxes? At various times during the move the woman that I scheduled with was on the job site, it was clear that she was trying to make the guys do right and to work,..... but it was to little avail. They called her their secretary and kept sending her to get food, drinks and moving supplies that should have been on their trucks. And while she was gone that did almost NOTHING! The move took over eight hours and she was so embarrassed by the mess that she gave me the "senior discount" to try to help. I told the woman that night that I would never use Maximum Movers again and she called the next day to explain just how saddened and hurt the owner was that I was dissatisfied. (He wasn't hurt or saddened enough to personally call or to return any of my money that his company had not rightfully earned.) I hate writing negative reviews but I hate even worse that thought of anyone else being ripped off the way that I was by Maximum Movers.
