It didn't go. They sent a bid that was incomplete, and out of line. Totally unprofessional.
Description of Work: Came by, reviewed my project, then never sent the bid in the time promised. I had to ask three times for the bid, and when it arrived it was clear they didn't want the project. The bid was more than double the other bids I'd received, and didn't include fully 1/3 of the work to be done. It would have been perfectly professional to send a No Bid if they didn't want to take on the project. Instead I got a "screw you" bid. There was a lot of front end selling, and phony interest in my project, but there was no substance to their service promises. I'd never use them, or recommend them to anyone.

It went very well. The concrete work was handled very promptly. The skylight took several weeks because of the backlog after a hail storm. But Keyner persisted and took care of it. I would use them again.

Hans Keyner and I met at my home so that he could put a bid in on the job of replacing my living area carpet with hardwood. Mr Keyner was a delight to talk to. He took the time to explain how his business works and what my options were as far as materials to complete the job. He explained what services would be covered in his bid. This experience was a huge and wonderful change from all the local no-shows, no-follow-ups, and just plain unprofessional contractors I've had experiences with here in Amarillo. My family has had several projects come up in the meantime which meant we've had to delay the flooring project for now. I would definitely advise everyone to at least speak with Keyner Construction before you start any remodeling!

Estimated cost was in the neighborhood of what I thought it would be but was too much for us right now. However, Keyner was very professional and made suggestions that were very good. We do plan to follow though with them on this project in the future. As a result of our experience with the company I recommended them to a friend who needed some interior handicap modifications and she told me they did an excellent job.

There was lots of salesmanship and promises of excellence, followed by dead air. A couple of weeks after the initial meeting I asked about my bid, and was twice assured it was forthcoming. Finally, after I made a third request for it, it was sent the next working day. I suspected by this time that they had no interest in my project. When I finally saw the bid SIX WEEKS after our meeting, my suspicions were confirmed. I expected the costs to be a bit above the median, but their pricing was ridiculous, especially as the bid failed to include at least 1/3 of the project details we'd covered, details that are central to the remodel. Lots of notes and photos were used to formulate the bid, so it puzzled me that so much was lost in translation. I've been a licensed contractor, so know a bit about listening to clients and what's required in bidding. How so much was lost in the process indicated to me a few things: 1. The person doing the site visit and collecting data is not experienced in the actual processes involved in remodeling. Perhaps a craftsman would able to ask better questions and track the conversation to ensure details needed to make a thorough bid are clear. 2. The bid was overly parted out, which means lots of different vendors would have to get their cut. Managing too many disparate teams is a recipe for disaster, and for cost overruns. 3. I received a classic "screw you" bid because they didn't want to bother with my projects. I'd never use them for a project, and will warn others about them. My experience with them was very unsatisfactory.
Description of Work: Came out to discuss my remodeling projects. Promised to provide a bid for all services discussed. Took photos and made notes.

I called and made arrangements for an estimate. The gentleman came out. He was friendly and professional. He looked at the job and informed he would get back to me with an estimate. The estimate did take a little while. The estimate was $3000.00. He emailed the estimate. I like that. I emailed him back that I had not anticipated it being that costly and would not be able to have the work done at that time.
Description of Work: I wanted a pocket door installation on the bathroom.
My old heating/air system was originally in the hallway. I wanted it replaced with a more efficient one and I wanted it moved to the attic. Mr. Keyner and I talked through what I wanted and he brought me a proposal when he said he would. He made sure that I was given alternative choices of what was available in HVAC systems within the proposal and we discussed the pros and cons of each. The work was begun in a timely fashion and finished very quickly so I would have limited interruption in my heating during a cold spell. He coordinated the timing of pulling of the old unit out, with the plumbing and electrical prep work, building a new attic stair access and constructing a platform for the new unit in the attic. it was amazing how well and smoothly each step went. Mr. Keyner also made sure that the vendor putting in the new system and the ductwork were careful to not tear my radiant barrier insulation throughout the attic. The new vents that had to be cut into the ceiling in my hallway were done neatly and framed and painted nicely. Mr. Keyner contacted me after the job was done to make sure I was happy with the way the new system was working. I appreciate the personal concern aspect that Keyner Construction employs with clients.
Description of Work: Keyner Construction arranged for the replacement and relocating of my heating/air system. They installed a new attic stair, built a platform for the new unit and arranged for attic lights. An extension to the existing gas line had to be installed for the new HVAC system and two new vents had to be installed in the hallway. The old floor vents were then sealed.
We contacted Mr.Keyner after seeing reviews on Angie's List. We contracted with him to have several projects done: chimney repair; refinish wood parquet floors; replace a large, cast-in-cement fence post; raze a dog run, leaving the cement slab ready to install another building. At the time we were new to Amarillo, trying to get an older house ready to move into, and in the process of moving from another state so we could not be on site often. It took some time to schedule time with Mr. Keyner but it was worth the wait. He had the jobs above done with a reasonable time and all with excellent results. We had earlier contacted craftsmen but were frustrated by "no shows" for appointments. Before meeting Mr. Keyner, we found it very difficult to locate qualified people who would even talk to us. We could do little cost comparison but consider the quality work done well worth what we paid.

We asked to have a estimate ready in five days. This was on a thursday. He told me that Mr. Keyner would be out Saturday to take pics of the bathroom and that they would have and estimate ready by Tuesday. Mr. Keyner never showed or called and that has been about 30 days ago. I had three others from the list show, two of which decided the project was beyond their ability. The only guy that showed up with a bid was R.G. Construction. He has been Extremely courteous and knowledgeable and prompt.
Description of Work: I called Keyner for an estimate and they were courteous on the phone the estimator showed up when he said he would. He stayed for an hour while I explained the work I needed done (total bathroom remodel ). He wasn't very forthcoming with the way he was going to accomplish the task.

Keyner Construction updated my guest bedroom in my home. The work completed by Hans, Owner of Keyner Construction; Robert, Design Coordinator for Keyner Construction and their painters, carpenters, cabinet makers and wallpaper hanger who worked on the project, made the room turn out just right. The workers kept my home clean and Hans was always available if I had any questions. Robert took the time to help me make good decisions, find paint colors, wallpaper and fabrics needed for the project. Robert worked closely with the cabinet vendor to create the right custom adjustable book cases and shelving system that went around the bedroom. I have been using Keyner Construction for years, I would recommend them to anyone needing work done to their home and I will continue to hire them for any future project that I have.
Description of Work: Keyner Construction to update the second bedroom area located at 3508 Danbury. We will place tarps and plastic in the project area to the exterior of the home during the project. Keyner Construction will remove the existing wallpaper on the walls, ceiling and border around the entire room. Keyner Construction will apply texture to match existing texture found throughout the home on the border area around the room and ceiling. We will install new custom bookcases with adjustable shelves flanking the window and a 6” wide shelf with corbels, set at approximately 7’ off the floor going around the entire room. Keyner Construction will apply one primer coat of paint on the border area on the walls, the ceiling, the trim, 6” shelf, bookcases and bookcase shelves. Project cost includes labor, material, cleanup and a one year warranty against workmanship like defects. An allowance schedule will be generate and provided at the time of the signing of the General Service Agreement.

Based on high marks granted for work performed on angie's list and an "A" overall rating, I approached Keyner Construction to take a look at my moderately extensive but straight forward remodel of my recently acquired home in Amarillo. The owner, returned my initial phone call within a day, and we arranged for a site visit two days later. Owner came to my house exactly when we had arranged, and we went over the project scope, discussed some optional ideas, and most importantly the project's constraints in moderate detail. It seemed apparent to me during his visit that Keyner Construction is a well organized and professional general contractor/ home builder clearly capable of taking on my project. The owner talked of their capabilities, his understanding of my budget and schedule constraints, and on several occasions his ability to get specific scope items done either cheaper or right in-line with other quotes I already had. This gave me a feeling that Keyner would be competitive with the other HOME BUILDER general contractor quotes I had, and could definitely be cheaper for specific scope items for which I had specific trade quotes (floors, painting). He left saying I should see a "real proposal" within a week. I received the one page very ambiguous quote within 2 1/2 weeks. Since this was over Thanksgiving, I am understanding of the additional time taken to produce a proposal. However, once I open it, it was obvious there was either a complete mis-alignment on scope or Keyner Construction was clearly not interested in being competitive. Details of their proposal were: 1) Paint and texture interior: $38,000 (other quotes range from $8000-$9000) 2) Kitchen remodel $42,000 (other quotes range from $12000-$16000) 3) Bathroom remodel $36,000 (other quotes range from $5000-$8000 without furnace relocation) Total cost $116,000 No mention of landscaping or outdoor work. To put in prospective, this was 3X higher than the next highest General Contractor bid. No breakdown or real scope details were provided, so I was unable to determine where things went so far astray. After some thought, I decided to email the owner directly to ask if he had even reviewed the quote or could provide more detail. 4 Days have past, and no response of any kind. Because they were responsive, punctual, and professional before and during site visit, I won't give straight Fs on my ratings. I just want folks to better understand what they may run into if you ask them for something other than minor repairs. Upon further review, 80% of their positive ratings on angie's list are for jobs that were for $4000 or less.
Description of Work: I requested a proposal from Keyner Construction for my project which consists of updating my kitchen and 2 bathrooms, relocate a the furnace in attic to create a little more space for bathrooms, paint the interior of my home to neutral colors, and perform some cleanup and landscaping work with the backyard. My home is a 3BR 2BA 2200sf home built in 1955.

While having other things done that involved working in the attic, I decided that I wanted a security light installed over my garage door. The electrician that Mr. Keyner got to do the job put in one type of fixture requiring two bulbs. The light was one that would automatically come on at night and go off in the morning. A switch was installed so I could manually control it if desired. At first the light worked well but kept blowing out bulbs. Each time, Mr. Keyner would have someone replace the bulb. When this continued, he had the electrician come check the wiring. All checked out but bulbs still would burn out too quickly. Mr. Keyner told the electrician to change the fixture. This was done, but the bulbs still blew out quickly. So he had the electrician check the wiring again. This went on for several months until it was discovered by Xcel, through a meter check, that there was a problem with the flow of electricity to my house. All this to say, Mr. Keyner kept working to figure out what the problem was. Although we discovered in the end that the cause of the problem was not due to his service, he had been relentless in trying to find the cause and resolve it. Thanks, Mr. Keyner!
Description of Work: An exterior security light was installed over my garage and a light switch was installed inside the garage by my door.
Keyner Construction replaced fifteen existing windows on my home with new energy efficient wood windows that had exterior aluminum cladding. Hans Keyner made sure his guys applied new window foam insulation and silicone caulk around each window for energy efficiency and sealed against the elements. I wanted them to install new wood casing, window seals and trim. Keyner Construction applied spackle, caulked and paint to the new wood casing, window seals, trim and the wall the window was on for a complete finished look. The windows updated the exterior of home, I don?t feel drafts anymore and they are simply beautiful. Once again I am very happy with the work they have done for me and I will continue to recommend them to anyone needing work done to their home. I will hire them again.
Description of Work: Keyner Construction was hired to complete the replacement of fifteen window units around the my home. They removed all fifteen existing window units around the home and replace them with fifteen new Hurd wood window units, with Aluminum Clad Wood Windows, Double Hung, Low-E with Divided Light (grill). I had my choice of color on the interior wood and exterior aluminum cladding. Keyner Construction placed tarps and plastic in the project areas where windows will be removed. Keyner Construction applied new paint grade wood trim and wood seal material around the interior of each new window unit. Keyner Construction will putty, sand, prime, caulk and apply oil base paint to all wood trim and wood seals. Keyner Construction will repair any metal siding affected by the removal and installation process of the windows.

I would not use this company nor could I recommend it.
Description of Work: The owner came to our home, took measurements and pictures or the kitchen and said he would get back to us. We waited a couple of weeks past his stated time. When I called his office, I was told that he was not there, but at the bank as he had some problems with his loans. We waited another 2 weeks and had not heard from him either by e-mail or phone or personal contact. We contacted another company and contracted with them to do the work. After 6 weeks, the estimate came from Keyner via e-mail. His estimate was three (3) times what we paid the other company for the same work.

I was referred to Keyner Construction by a good friend. They responded, came quickly, and assessed what I needed. Hans met me at the counter top subcontractor's, where I picked out what I wanted. After the counter top was built, the demo crew tore out the old counter top. The following day, the new counter top was installed. There was minimal disruption in our home. The measurements and installation were perfect!I could not have asked for a better experience than we had with Keyner Construction.
