I rented at Ashton Place starting September '08, within weeks the apartment manager, Angie, became very unprofessional and for some reason had it in for me...mainly because I had an apartment size w/d unit (washer can be hooked to the kitchen sink, dryer run on 110 and can be vented through a apartment window). There was NO provision in the lease forbidding these appliances, and I refused to get rid of them, so Angie decided she would take other measures. Within a month of moving in the maintenance man was at my door, smelling and looking in stating over the weekend (this was Monday morning) there were complaints about my apartment and smells, chemical smells. he stated he still smelled them...yet I had just accidentally burned some bacon before he came to my door. He also stated my apartment was a mess, and it was cluttered, as I was going through 20 boxes, culling through items to put into storage and have a garage sale. I must mention I was on section 8 housing rental assistance at the time. The next morning there were 5 people outside my door. Angie Piore had called HUD housing and reported me for the w/d, smells and "filth" as she called it. The inspector found I needed to consolidate the boxes and the clutter form the boxes, but found no filth and no odors. Angie was not happy, she wanted me thrown out. This did not happen. So every chance she got she went into my apartment (when I was not there) and inspected. I put booby traps out so that I could tell when someone had been in my apartment, and the trap was set off 5 times...with no note left on door stating that maintenance or anyone else has been in th unit. In the meantime she kept calling HUD and reporting me for everything under the sun. I have moved now...and while I did leave ONE stain on the living room carpet, and one bag of trash in th living room, she has charged me $500 plus for cleaning and repairs to the apartment, $50.00 to throw away that one bag a trash, $40.00 to replace a mini blind wand and $40.00 to replace a towel rack that HER OWN MAINTENANCE MAN REMOVED...these are but a few items she billed me for in the letter I received today. I will try and negotiate with her, but if I cannot get her to reduce the price I will pay, at a rate I can afford, which as of today unemployed, so I can pay her $5.00 a month until I am again gainfully employed.
