They provided a call out regarding leak in HVAC duct related too home warranty claim. After completing the paper work for the claim they didn?t make any repairs. I asked them to make a very inexpensive repair with duct tape pending resolution with the home warranty company and they declined because they said that the sixty five dollars that I paid was to cover their services for the home warranty service. They were unwilling to help solve the problem they worked for the Home warranty company not me. I talked to the owner and he made it clear that his call-out was as an adjuster for the insurance company. He said that he didn?t want to do a duct tape repair because it would look unprofessional, so instead he opted to do nothing to fix the hole even temporarily and offered to redo my whole duct system for almost $2500. Declined the offer.
Description of Work: Technician was called on out on home warranty call to inspect HVAC and make repair.

1st American Home Buyers Protection Corporation sent All-Star out to specifically work on York furnace, after Shreiner Plumbing Inc., did not show (or call) on time for 4:30pm appointment on 10/19/2011. All-Star said heat exchange was cracked and they would "turn in for new heater" to 1st American. The estimate for repair / replacement received from All-Star was $985 and included $75 for removal, $150 gas line, $200 filter base, $150 transition, $300 ex-vent (modification), etc. When Kelly was asked if things such as the removal fee were negotiable, he informed us that All-Star could not go any lower. Other HVAC professionals had previously stated that the gas and electrical ($75) lines were fine and would not need replacing, nor would a permit ($35) be necessary, since everything looked "up to code". 1st American paid $440.01 on a buyout, which was the cost they gave for purchase of a furnace, tax, and labor. Furnace has been working in a manual-reset mode since that time (fan switch is believed to be faulty). Estimates are still being gathered against the $1425 total estimate given by these combined entities.
Description of Work: All-Star came for assessment of a 1997 York furnace that would not ignite, although it cycled through the ignition process normally. After spending about 20 minutes with the unit, the technician said the heat exchange was cracked and they would "turn in for new heater" to 1st American. The estimate for repair / replacement received from All-Star was $985 and included $75 for removal, $150 gas line, $200 filter base, $150 transition, $300 ex-vent (modification), etc. When Kelly Griffith of All-Star was later asked if things such as the removal fee were negotiable, he informed us that All-Star could not go any lower on their price. Other HVAC professionals had previously stated that the gas and electrical ($75) lines were fine and would not need replacing, nor would a permit ($35) be necessary. Furnace has been working in a manual-reset mode since that time (fan switch is believed to be faulty); no further service from All-Star.

I wanted to give a positive review for this company as they have come to my home twice in the last six months, once for heating and once for a/c (Unfortunately, we have a rather cheap system). :( First, it seems the addition of a secretary has helped their communication, as she was prompt to schedule a service call after we submitted the claim to our home warranty company (on the visit in January and in June). She was polite and efficient, even calling me know on the day of service that the techs were running a little behind (today) and would be at my home shortly. I appreciated her keeping me informed as to their arrival. Second, when the techs arrived (again, both times), they were politely inquisitive as to the issue I was experiencing in my home. Never did I sense condescension (as a female speaking to male techs). They quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the part, and thank goodness, we have COLD AIR again!! Additionally, when they fixed our heat in January, they were the first to figure out that a certain part of our heater seemingly had not been hooked up the whole time we'd lived in our house! This company seems to have made some definitive improvements in their system. Glad to be able to rate them highly!!
Description of Work: A/C was out in our home upstairs and they came in and replaced a capacitor in the unit which fixed the problem.

I had All Star Heat & Air out to fix my A/C unit that was not getting cold. They came out 3 times in 2 weeks. 1st time they added freon, stated we had a freon leak; 2nd time A/C still was not cooling and stated they needed a part to fix unit and could not get it until after the weekend; 3rd time stated nothing was wrong and I would have to spray down my A/C unit with the hose 2x a day for the rest of the summer to get it to cool. But they continued to tell me my A/C was working just fine even though it was 87 degrees in my house! They were rude, lazy and demeaning to me on every visit. We had a different heating and air company come out, Newman H&A, and they fixed the problem in 10 minutes! I love Newman Heating and Air! There was a panel off my unit in the attic that was circulating 150 degree air and trying to cool it down. All that needed to be fixed was to secure a panel onto the attic unit! I can not believe that All Star Heat and Air expected me to hose down my A/C unit all summer! Really? DO NOT USE THEM EVER!!!!!
Description of Work: A/C unit not cooling, All Star Heat & Air adden freon and stated it was working perfectly, even though it was not cooling.

Our home warranty company sent this heating and air company out. Our ac was not cooling at all. They arrived and I let them in the house to look at the thermostat. I told them that the house was not cooling and he looked down at me like I was stupid and said "Who made this appointment?", I said "My husband and he is on his way". This man was so rude to me and acted like I did not exist. He did not even want to talk a "woman". Apparently my bachelor's and master's degrees were not enough intelligence for him. My husband arrived a few minutes later and he was also rude to my husband. He yelled at my husband for not having the unit turned off and he stated that he knew his secretary had told us that(which she had not). He said he couldn't work on a hot unit. My husband asked him when he would be back and he said he had no idea. My husband asked him again if he would be back later that day to work on the unit or the next day. This time the man said "F*** it" and got in his truck and left. We filed a complaint with the home warranty company. The next ac guy that came out said that he has heard that this company gets a lot of complaints. Not too mention on top of all of this, I am pregnant and was sweating it out in the house waiting for the ac company to arrive. You would think a man would have a little sympathy for a wilting pregnant lady in 90 degree weather. I highly recommend you steer clear of this company. Their professionalism was non existent and they walked off the job for no apparent reason.
Description of Work: The ac company was hired to come and see why our ac was not cooling. They never did the work, and walked off the job.
