Carolyn was so nice to work with, really knew her stuff, was polite, professional and just plain fun! Took a lot of the usual stress out of the move. Al and his crew were super nice, got us packed up in no time, left both places looking great, no scuffs or mess to clean up. Would definitely call and use them again if we're back in Amarillo. BIG thanks to all!

Description of Work: They went to the storage place and picked up my furniture and brought it to my house. The truck initially was too large, so they had to change into a smaller one. The event proceeded until they finished unpacking the truck. The experience was satisfactory.

Description of Work: We were very pleased with Bekins Van Lines, also referred to as A & W Transfer, and everyone we worked with during our recent move. The move was well advised and planned from the beginning with four men and one semi-truck, then the buyers of our house had the buyers of their house fall through on their purchase one hour after we got all our earthly belongings on the semi and closed the doors. The original intent was to move everything out of our house and everything in our 10'X25' storage unit onto the semi on Friday and store it on the semi until after we closed on Monday, but the entire sale of four homes was thrown into chaos on Friday afternoon. By the grace of God, things were able to be worked out another way, and we were able to finally close on the following Thursday. We had to get moved in no later than Thursday, since I was in serious need of crucial medications. We had only planned on living out of a suitcase for three days, And Pam jumped through hoops to move the schedule around to make time to move us into our new home later that afternoon that same Thursday, the same day we closed in the morning. | |There were a few problems experienced like some damage to two of our bookshelves and a Formica cabinet caused from the pressure of too much weight on top. I discussed this with Pam, and she quickly promised to mail out a claim form. There was also, an issue of concern when it took four men over 45 minutes to move the semi into the alley and later walk around the storage unit together to find another entrance into the storage unit when the renters of another unit were stretched out blocking the main entrance. There was a minor frustration from watching two of the guys do more standing around while the other two guys did most of the lifting and hauling may have been influenced by my high expectation from paying $125 - $150 an hour labor. However, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that in the beginning the four men were moving so fast, we couldn't keep up finishing our last minute packing. Overall, I'd still rate them with a solid 'A-' for a job well done. | | | |

The owner of cpany actually showed up to check in on crew. They helped me arrange a lot of misc items in a very cramped attic. Bottom line, I will use them again and recommend to anyone who ask

+ -1 moreThey are thieves. They hired workers who stole our kitchen items. They packed things so poorly, after assuring us things were okay, that even our antique, hardwood dining table was broken. We had to file insurance claims to repair our bed, our dining room table, bookshelves, etc. Some things were ruined beyond repair like my wife's kindergarten books. We filed a police report against the movers so we could be reimbursed for the loss. Never, NEVER hire these movers for any reason.
Description of Work: We were moving from Amarillo to Chicago. We contracted with a transportation company to move our things. We hired their contracted help, A&W Movers, to help us load the more difficult items. I had categorized all of items into fragile items and stable ones. All were packed into boxes and labeled appropriately. When we arrived in Chicago, the movers packed all of our fragile things underneath the heavy items. Several pieces of furniture were broken because of their poor packing. Also, half of our kitchen items were not delivered. The only way they could have been removed from the load was for A&W Movers' employees to have stolen them while I backs were turned.

+ -1 moreVery good job overall. Called ahead. Scheduler provided an accurate quote. There was some confusion on days but schedulers helped work through that. Had packers pack my product. They did a fair job. Good job on breakables - less of a good job on other stuff. But overall ok (that is the only reason for the B on quality). Got it packed in time. Movers were on time and worked very hard to get everything moved onto the truck in a day. We had to delay our move in for a few days and the scheduler worked with us to hold the materials on the truck over the weekend and a few extra days. Guys showed up on time to move things out and did a good job. Overall thought they were conscientious and careful with materials. We had a couple of broken items but were very minor. Movers are always an interesting breed but I thought these were some of the best that I have worked with.

+ -1 moreThey showed up on time, and worked hard to complete the job in as timely a manner as possible. The workers were professional and courteous at all times. They took care with all of our possessions. I even let them move items I have never allowed anyone but myself to move; such as, very expensive, rare breakables. Everything arrived in superb condition. We were so impressed with the movers that we tipped them each $50 upon completion.
Description of Work: We moved 70 miles from a rural area to Amarillo. The company was hired to move the entire household furnishings and goods.
