I asked David to quote his price for assembling and installing a "pedestal" type mailbox like he had done for a neighbor. He quoted $100 and I bought the mailbox at Home Depot. He did his part but when he had finished, I didn't like it (the structural design of the mailbox didn't seem sturdy enough...nothing to do with David's work)...the flaw was in the design of the mailbox. He had poured a concrete base and put long bolts through the concrete into the soil, and bolted the pedestal onto that. That part was fine...but the rod which came in the mailbox kit was too long to hold it as tight as I wanted it, so I asked him to take it down and said I was going to buy a different kind of mailbox...which I did. He installed the second mailbox and customized the install to make sure that it would last for many years. I am very pleased with his finished work. He didn't ask for any more money, but I insisted on paying him $40 additional (all of the work he did was worth more) because he made three or four trips to my house and worked for probably at least eight hours due to my error.
