Suburban Door

The repairman assessed the situation said it was really awful and that I had made the situation worse by taking off the other cable and the side rails to get the door to close. He said it was a big, dangerous job and I believed him. He told me it would cost $350. I stupidly did not get another estimate. My bad! The man spent less than an hour repairing the door and cleaning up and was ready to take the money and leave for his next job, bragging about how many of these he can do in a day. I assume that the door will work OK for now. The work looks ok, the door opens fine and sounds fine. But the guy did not replace any parts but a cable. He unbent and reused the damaged rails and used the same badly split woodwork to anchor those rails, so I don't have confidence in the long. My main complaint is the price which, given the size of the job and the quick and dirty fix, was outrageous.

Everything went A-OK. My garaged door was badly out of adjustment and making lots of noise when operating. I purchased an Angie's List daily deal to have the garage door adjusted and new nylon rollers installed. The technician showed up right on time and performed the agreed upon service quickly and proficiently. He was very knowledgeable about garage doors and openers, and offered numerous tips for keeping the door and opener operating properly. I wouldn't hesitate to use Service Lock and Garage Door again in the future.

On time, extremely knowledgeable, quick, and thorough. When he arrived, the door would sometimes go up/down and sometimes not and when it did work, it was easy to hear throughout the house. By the time he left, the door worked beautifully and now we actually DO NOT hear it at all inside the house. I never knew a garage door could work so quietly, but he explained what exactly causes the noise and he fixed it! I was impressed!

Failure to respond to phone calls or written requests for assistance or support Complaint: They came out to repair my garage which was off track. It went off track again & could not get them to come out to refix or return calls. Garage allededly fixed 7/24/2013. 3 weeks later it was having same issue. I paid $185.00 by personal check. No parts were replaced. Ben said just needed a tune up & some adjustments. I have called left messages. I have talked to the secretary several times. They were schedualed to come out 8/21 canceled on me after I had areanged to have someone there. I have been called crazy by this company & they have contiuously hung up on me, then they (jennifer) called me back with an unknown # to harrass me several times. I had to pay a new company to come out to repair what I had already paid for on top of taking time off work. On few sights there hours are Monday-Saturday. They refuse to come out on a Saturday. I was refused the owners name or a physical address as well. Asked many times for the owner to call me. He nor she never did. I did turn them into BBB which not accredited thru & they had a complaint a month prior to mine on not following thru with warranties. They have an "F" rating.

It went very well, but I paid for a pre-paid service deal with a coupon but ended up needing something completely different. It wasn't easy or clear how I was getting my money back from Angie's List so didn't bother...the company didn't know. I was happy overall, so that's fine but this process should be more clear.

Sent my request for repair in on 10/2 around 1:00 p.m. Received a follow up email shortly after giving me options for dates and times, with one option for same day repair. Repair was complete by 5:00 p.m. on 10/2. Excellent service!

They were great and we definitely will use them again.

It went great. One of my door hinges broke Friday night which caused a roller to pop out completely. Searched on Angie's List for garage door repair companies and ran across Service Lock and Garage Door Company. Saw the special and called Saturday morning. Explained what happened and he confirmed it would be covered under the Tune Up and Roller replacement special. He was very nice and courteous and gave me a 12-2 time. He was here right at 12. Looked at the broken hinge and listened to the door and said oh yea this maintenance is exactly what you need. He explained a few things and went right to work. He was done in about 35 minutes and explained what he did and told me to try out the door. What a difference, no more creaking or weird noises! It went up and down like a brand new door. I felt bad because he told me he under the weather with the flu but you really couldn't tell it by his demeanor. He could have made the decision to make my appt. Monday but he didn't. I appreciate his professionalism and timeliness. I would highly recommend this company to everyone!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went very well. It was all completed within the price. There wasn't anything broken that he needed to replace. He just made everything work and adjusting stuff here and there so that made everything okay so I didn't have to pay anything extra for any additional thing. He did all the work very efficiently and he knew what the issue was very quickly. He explained to me very well where things might break and what to watch out for and things like that. He did a very good job as far as making it run smoothly now. I was very satisfied with it.

I was not sure if I would be able to repair the system vs having to replace it. Once at my home the board issue was immediately found and I was told cost to replace. Purchasing a new unit was never mentioned and when the door closed I was told it would be better for the system to shut slower and it was adjusted. I have had no further issues and am very pleased. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Paul explained everything, I thought ere might be an additional charge for all the work that was done, no extra fee. It was great

I was very pleased. Their quote was considerably lower than quote received by "warehouse program" referred contractor. In addition, I feel the door I purchase was of higher quality. Thicker metal (lower gauge) and the brand name door I purchased had better reviews on line than warehouse program brand door.

I think he went above and beyond what I expected - he explained everything to me and demonstrated how I could maintain the rollers and keep them in good condition by oiling them and he showed me exactly how to do this. As he went through everything he explained it in detail, and answered all of the questions I asked. After he left, I closed the garage door and it was squeaking pretty badly, I called him back and he immediately made an appointment to return the next morning and fix it. I would highly recommend this company.

AWESOME service!!! I called them late in the afternoon and they were at my house the next day. Very professional and friendly. He even adjusted my garage door opener at no extra cost!! Also, I received an Angie's List discount!! I won't ever call anyone else for my garage door needs!!! I highly recommend Service Lock and Garage Door!!!

I was sitting quietly, reading, when someone ran into the garage door at about 50 MPH, shaking the house.......actually, one of the door springs broke and unwound making a heck of a noise. Found Service Lock and Garage Door on Angie's list, and gave them a shout. Scheduled for Saturday by noon, and as it was getting close to noon, gave them a call to see how they were doing. Paul answered, said he was on his way, but running late because of a sudden mandatory home warranty service call somewhat out of my location. Anyway, Paul arrived in his new snazzy van - very proud of it, and we talked about it for a bit. Got to looking at the garage door, and discovered a number of sins. (I don't recall this,) but apparently the initial install of the door was a single spring (2 car garage, single door), which was replaced after it broke. (We've lived here since the house was built, but I've slept...) Anyway, apparently the tech who replaced the single spring with two, was a bit of an amateur, and thought that hammering things off of the door rod rather than smoothing the dents and bumps so that they would slide off was the thing to do. Paul took his time, used a grinder to allow smooth and easy removal of springs, mounts, pulleys, etc., and discovered that all three bearings that the rod rotated in were SHOT!. One was frozen, and the other two were not by any stretch of the imagination rotating smoothly. He offered to replace them at no additional charge, because he was unable to make his scheduled arrival time, through no fault of his own, and proceeded to do so. Once everything was reassembled, we hit the button, and I was stunned! This is for all practical purposes a new garage door. Where there was previously a graunching, noisy vibration both up and down, there was only the hum of the opener. I'm VERY pleased with both service and service tech. It's really refreshing when you contract someone who actually knows what they're doing, and if necessary can explain it. Very pleased!

Awesome work. They were on time and efficient. The door came in a color that matched my home perfectly. They even program my remote as a courtesy. Love the finished product.

The company was open on Saturday to talk about the options and place an order, find me another garage door company taking calls on the weekend! Ian was on time the following Tuesday and had everything he needed to complete the work. Less than two hours later had everything finished and cleaned up. He walked me through a few things about the door, how to lube and lock and we were done. All at a great price.

Fantastic! Paul is smart and knows his stuff. He arrived on time and worked fast. I couldn't recommend him more. We will be calling him again when we want to change out our opener. Jim
