RCS was hired to do a foundation inspection for my home before I could sell. I believe that Corey Bentley needs further education on foundation requirements for a FHA loan. When I questioned Corey on his report he was very rude and unwilling to do further research. I had to pay for two other inspections from other engineers just to get the corrected inspection report to keep my buyer interested. I am also upset that Corey sent out a 20ish year old kid to come out to my home instead of showing up in person for the inspection. I feel that this is very unprofessional and would not recommend to anyone to use this company.

Had to call twice to get an appointment that was then rescheduled by them. Had to pay upfront. Told drawings would take 3-4 days. After a week, I called and was told they take 7-10 days - that I'd have them by the next Monday at the latest. Nope. Called the next Wednesday and told an engineer would call me back. No call. My General Contractor called and was told we should have them by the end of the week. Nope. At the time of this review, I still don't have my engineer's report needed for permitting. It's been 3 weeks for drawings we were told would take 3-4 days. Very dissatisfied.

Description of Work: Mr. Montgomery came to my house and completed a structural evaluation for my foundation. He was very personable and explained his findings in great detail so that I had no trouble understanding him. He determined that my house needed only proper root barriers and watering maintenance to correct all of the foundation issues we are currently experiencing. He recommended zero piers. His price is a bit higher than some of the other structural engineers out there but I believe this will be offset multiple times by the savings I will gain by not having to place piers anywhere under the foundation.

First Home inspection so nothing to compare it to. Appeared to be very thorough, methodical and doesn't rush which is good when it comes to inspections. Happy to talk things over with you as he goes along. Takes pictures to include in his report which is very clear and concise. Helps to prioritize the issues he finds. Prompt and courteous.

Best money I ever spent on home repair! No question about it. Prior to having Martin out, I had two other foundation repair companies out that we trying to sell me piers. After getting two wildly different quotes I decided to call RCS to find out what the real issue with my house was. After taking a few readings and measurements, Martin verified that my house had dropped slightly in the front area. He explained to me that since the house had been vacant for over two years, with no one watering the lawn, and the dry summers, the tree's roots had made their way underneath the house to find mositure. As the roots sucked the moisture out, the soil contracts like a dried sponge which allowed the house to drop. Martin said that if the moisture was returned to the soil that it would expand and the house would come backup. However, to prevent the roots from continuing to rob the moisture from under the house, install a root barrier. So by installing the barrier, forcing water back into the soil slowly over a couple months (be patient, it'll work) my house did come back up. I had some hefty water bills but nothing like the thousands of dollars the pier companies wanted to charge me!!
Description of Work: Came to do an inspection of my home to investigate foundation movement.

We were a little surprised and perplexed by what he told us since we had anticipated having to put in piers. We called several people that had done the root barriers and deep water injection and they were thoroughly pleased with the results. Most of them had already done piers and still had problems, but the root barriers and water injection appeared to alleviate them. Some of the work had been done about a year ago to over 3 years ago and they were still happy with it, so we decided to go with it. It is much less expensive than the piers. You just have to be diligent about keeping your foundation moist after the work is done, I understand. We are pleased there is an alternative to piers that doesn't put you in debt up to your ears for the next 5 years and actually works.
Description of Work: Engineer arrived on time and completed his work in approximately an hour and a half. He sat down to talk with us about his findings and said we would have a report in a few days. He did not recommend piers as we thought he would. He instead recommended root barriers and deep water injection/hydration. He said the large trees we had were pulling the water out from under our foundation and causing the problem. We needed to put the moisture back under our foundation, keep the roots of the trees from pulling the moisture back out, and keep the soil moist. That work will be done by another company before Thanksgiving.

RCS was contacted and an appointment was set up by helpful, pleasant staff. Mr.Helms was prompt, courteous and thoughtful. He outlined his procedure for us and we walked the property with him and talked about the things we were concerned with. He then started his inspection and measuring. When he was through he showed us some things we weren't aware of that were not related to the foundation and he was good enough to discuss our options on these findings also. When he was done he explained our situation in clear fashion and answered all the many questions we had. He promised a full detailed report in 3 days and as promised we received the report via e-mail in two and a hard copy in the mail in three.
Description of Work: An RCS representative inspected our house and plot for issues with our foundation. His inspection and measurements covered the entire house and took almost 2 hours. He then sat down with us and discussed what he had found and what our options were.

Mr. Montgomery arrived on time and was very polite. He took the time to thoroughly explain his findings and to answer our questions, making sure we understood every aspect. After about four days, we received a call offering to email the report to us. Within a week we received a hard copy of the report. This report explained what needed to be done in detail. It explained how to do these things if we wanted to do them ourselves and it gave a list of contractors who could perform these repairs.
Description of Work: Our house was built in 1991. After having our garage foundation leveled by a foundation repair company, we noticed new cracks in interior walls, floor tiles, and outside brick walls. We decided to get an objective option on what to do from a structural engineer. Martin Montgomery, Mr. Helms partner, took about an hour to completely inspect the house inside and out and the attic. He took many measurements to access the levelness of the foundation. His recommendations included watering the foundation better, cutting down large shrubs near the foundation, and putting in root barriers between the trees and foundation. These measures would cost far less than the thousands the foundation repair company would charge for repairs. After these measures were put into affect, he said we would probably not need any foundation leveling.

Jerry was intelligent, articulate, pleasant, and very professional. He was considerate about making certain not to let the cat out as he went about his inspection. He spent about 20-30 minutes giving us an oral report and answering questions. The complete written report with the specific findings and recommendations arrived in the mail three working days later.
Description of Work: Jerry, a licensed engineer, thoroughly inspected the house inside and out, including the attic, carport, and attached storage building to determine the state of our foundation. He also evaluated our property's topography in regards to drainage since that plays an important role in foundation changes.

The price of the engineering report was identical to what we had paid for a foundation company-affiliated engineering report done at our former home years ago. Since RCS Enterprises is an independent firm, we felt we'd get a more accurate picture of the condition of our foundation. Jerry was polite, efficient, and explained his findings and our various options in detail. We decided to follow his recommendation to remove some large crepe myrtle bushes planted against the house and make some soil moisture corrections. His structural report included a small list of contractors that could provide the various services that we might need.
Description of Work: We had lost soil around our foundation, & noticed some cracks & other signs of foundation movement that we needed evaluated. Jerry provided a structural report on our house & surrounding property.
