"We take customer satisfaction very seriously. I came out myself to discuss your projects after you called and expressed concern. We sat at your table and discussed what was going on and why it was taking more time than you expected to fix your issues. Even though we spent 2.5 hours working on your projects, I only billed you for one hour and absorbed all of the materials in an attempt to help you feel better about the price. I am very disappointed you still feel you were not treated fairly."
"We provide a free ball-park estimate over the phone, but we do charge $50 for an onsite consultation. First, that $50 is credited back to you when you book the job. Second, while it might sound like semantics, a consultation is much different than just a simple estimate. After one of our craftsmen meets with you, you will have a better understanding of what the job will entail, the options available, suggestions on materials and colors, etc. He will then provide a detailed, line-itemed estimate that documents the various aspects of the job, materials required, assumptions, etc. A "free estimate" by many contractors is nothing more than a single price written down on the back of a business card."
