 + -1 moreAfter inspection the upstairs unit blew out hot air. KNK returned and informed me that I had a hole in either the coil or compressor. Received a second opinion in which inspector found a loose cap on freon port and tightened, then replenished freon. System works just fine . . . without needing replacement.

 + -1 moreSince the unit works, must say things went well, but the installers could certainly be more professional.
Description of Work: KNK came to the house and gave me an estimate on a new Lennox Heatpump. They were competitive and because I have used them for repair previously, I decided to go with them. I was pleased with the rapidity of their response - estimate given on Monday, unit installed on Thursday. The crew was a llittle late (less than one hour). The man who came to the door did not tell me his name, just that he was from KNK. His helper did not come to the door, but entered the garage and started work. It only took them until noon to remove the old unit and take it away. After noon they started installing the new unit and had it in very quickly. They made multiple calls to the company because they were unsure about how it worked. They came in and out of the house without ever knocking and surprised me several times by simply appearing behind my chair in the living room. They had a problem with the thermostat and finally had to have someone else come out to instal one.. They reported the one they installed had no owner's manual, but after my insistance on their looking again, they found one. They were in a huge hurry to leave, leaving a pair of gloves, and multiple squashed play-doh-like piles on my garage floor. The youngman who came out to collect the money installed the appropriate thermostat ad tested it to be sure everything was working well. In the end, the unit worked and everything was good.

 + -1 moreI called to have a technician come out and "winterize" the furnace since it has become cold. A new person came out and insisted I buy a new thermostat - he gave an estimate of $123.00, but it turned out to be $171.00. He did not have an owner's maual or any information about using the thermostat and the things he DID tel lme did not work. He did not do the servicing at no charge, did not inform me of what he was doing or how much it would cost. He then gave me a lecture on using credit cards -- he is totally against them. I was not happy and called the offce to say so. They sent Charles and he was very helpful.
Description of Work: Charles came out to explain how to use my new thermostat and calm me from the last visit with another technician. He was prompt, very knowledgeable about the equipment, and vey professional. I have been using KNK for the past 8 years, and they have always been extremely responsive.

 + -1 moreA service rep came out to look at our broken 15 year old HVAC unit and recommended that our money would be better spent replacing the unit instead of trying to fix everything that was wrong with it. We agreed with his assessment, since we knew that the unit had been on it's last leg for over a year or two. Several days later we met with their estimator, who was polite, knowledgeable and personable. Their estimate came in a little higher than the company that we ultimately went with.

 + -1 moreOn the yearly maintenance plan, they always put you on at the top of the list for service calls. All of the service techs are very polite (Charles and Jason). They are knowledgeable. Their bi-yearly rates have the same since the year 2001. They always call you if they are running behind which is respectable.

Description of Work: Chad came out promptly to give us an estimate for replacement of our upstairs air duct/heating unit. As a matter of fact, he came out on the 4th of July. He came when he said he would. He listened to my concerns and recognized the unique and problematic situation we had regarding the location of our old unit. He sent an estimate the next day.
