Mike Adcock completed an HVAC service check up including my 16-SEER unit, furnace, insulation, and ducts. Everything was tested and found to be in perfect working order. My house was purchased in 2009 and the checkup occurred in 2012. Mr. Adcock took the time to go over everything with me, and advised that no additional services were needed. Obviously I was very pleased by this news, but I also appreciated Mr. Adcock's honesty. There was no up sell, there were no unnecessary services recommended. Based on the same, when I need HVAC work completed, Extreme Comfort will be the first company that is called.

They refused to come and repair the unit and told me to find another trane service company. They are happy to take the $15,000 for new equipment but do not want to service the equipment once it goes wrong. This is the 2nd time they have refused to service an item that was faulty and under warranty.
Description of Work: Called requesting a service call to repair air conditioning unit they originally installed in 2008, motor in trane xl15 condenser blown and is under warranty.

On September 9, 2008 Extreme Comfort Air Conditioning changed out 4 condensers and 2 evaporator coils for $15,875. On May 5, 2009 we changed an electronic damper system for $1,750. Then on February 5, 2010 we gave an estimate for a 3 ton furnace which was not installed. On May 6, 2010 the customer wanted a diagnostic for a problem he was having. Joey, our installation manager, diagnosis a bad circuit board on the 3 ton furnace which we did NOT install. Joey gave an estimate to replace the Lennox circuit board for $695. The customer had his friend install the circuit board instead and he connected it to the zone damper system which caused the zone damper system to malfunction. The customer then called Extreme Comfort AC and wanted us to fix the zone damper system at no charge. It was out of labor warranty and his friend's installation caused the malfunction. This was explained to the customer by the owner of Extreme Comfort. The other equipment was installed two years earlier and there was no labor warranty. We did not install any of this customer's furnaces. Both the customer and Extreme Comfort came to a mutual agreement that we would not do business with each other. He could call any other company and the parts could be under warranty. The customer did not understand that we did not have any liability once his friend worked on the equipment. Extreme Comfort AC upheld the labor warranty for 4 condensers and 2 coils which we installed for the customer and we pulled the Southlake permit for which the install was green tagged by the city to meet all codes. We have not been to this customer's house since May 10, 2010. This customer called our company on April 2, 2015 requesting a service call. Because of the past mutual agreement we declined to run the service call and reminded the customer his equipment could still be under warranty and another AC company could do any repairs. He would need to verify with Trane if the coils or condensers are still under warranty after 7 years. This is what has prompted the above review. We regret that this situation has occurred. We do everything we can to provide the best service to all of our customers.

It went well. Scheduling an appointment was quite easy. The technician called in advance and was very professional. He made sure I didn't have any additional questions. Checked the furnace and even confirmed how old the furnace was.

Extreme Comfort was great. Earl came out and gave a very competitive price. He also helped me fill out the energy rebate for my utility company. They were able to install next day. The install crew came & put tarp from front door, up the stairs all the way to attic access. They vacuumed after they were done. The office was also great in that they registered the equipment for me & sent me all the warranty info within 2 days. The only minor complaint I have is the equipment is a bit louder than the old one we had.

They were okay. Like most companies, they try to sort of sell you a new system. Those times that they came, I think they had to come twice to repair the problem. it was twice in the fall and when we had a problem in the winter they had to come twice. I think they were very responsive. We won't use them again because we've found someone we like so much better.

Did a very good job replacing a poorly installed 20 year old A/C unit. Replaced padding for outdoor unit and flooring for indoor furnace. Upgraded indoor plumbing to meet current city codes. Trane did not have the units we specifically wanted and was unsure of the time frame the items would be available, the owner worked with us to get different units that were available immediately at a similar. The crew was fast and clean. No mess left behind. Very happy!

I am very pleased with the purchase and installation of the Trane XR16 and XT80 systems. So far, the heater is working well; it is much quieter than my 17 year old Consolidated that it replaced. Will have to wait six+ months to evaluate the airconditioner. I felt that I got a good price on a good system after evaluating the competitors systems and quotes. Mike Adcock came out and quoted the installation; he was very knowledgeable and was helpful in educating me about installation and options. There was no sales pressure. I also talked to the owner, Marc Berke, and his assistant, Kalli, and both of them inspired my confidence in doing business with this company. The installers showed up at the appointed time and were efficient, polite and addressed all of my questions and concerns. They did a good job of cleaning up.

At 10:00 pm on a Tuesday we realized that our air conditioner was not cooling. My husband got up the next morning and called Extreme Comfort somewhere between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. He was planning to leave a message and was so surprised when a real person answered. They said they would have someone come out before 10 a.m (I was very happy). On top of that, fate gave us a break as we had rain showers and it cooled everything down. Howard, the technician, showed up around 10 and quickly got to work. He realized our condenser fan motor was out. He was very good with our questions and gave us a lot of information about our unit. He made calls to find the part and said he could return somewhere around 3:00 to install it. He called us and came back at 2:00 p.m. and had it installed in no time. What I liked about this technician, and what I have found to be rare lately (even with Angie's List A rated companies) is that he did not complain or go on and on about how hard the work was going to be or how difficult it would be to get the part or how wonderful a technician he was. He was polite, efficient, to the point and did the job. It was refreshing. I would definitely recommend this company.

My experience with Extreme Comfort air cond. & heat: They came today at 8:45am, which is the time of our appt (8-9am), they quoted that the job would take about 3 hours. They were done about 12 noon, which is right. So, they arrived on time, finished on time, were very polite, professional, laid down tarps to protect floor, took out the old furnace, put in the new, tried it out to make sure it worked and cleaned everything up when done. The price they quoted included furnace and parts, labor, the thermostat, AND city inspection. The final cost is what they quoted: $2185. I called Extreme Comfort to come check out our a/c units, our insurance company had suggested the condenser fins be combed and strengthened. Mike came out to give us a quote on that, after inspecting all three of our units he said that given the age of the units it is not going to be worth the time and effort spent and we may not see much difference, he said the units were old but and still working but we should consider replacing with more efficient ones. All three units are the original from when our house was built in 1995. After receiving a quote and speaking to Mark, one of the owners, we are going to replace all three of our units.
Description of Work: We have been using Extreme Comfort for three years for our heating and a/c yearly maintenance, our contract expired and just signed up for another five years. I have been satisfied with their service, in December 2009 when one of our heating units quit working, they were able to come over the same day to replace our heater. Mike knows our systems so I make sure they send him each time for the maintenance. We are having them replace all three of our 17 year old a/c units for more efficiency.

I had called this company based on an ad I had seen, and had them come over to do a seasonal check on my gas furnaces. After looking at the units, the technician told me that based on the age of my house, we should be very concerned about carbon monoxide leakage from metal fatigue of the units. He said it's impossible to adequately check inside the units to see if they're damaged, and said he had no way to detect whether a unit is leaking CO. I specifically asked him whether he had some sort of a gauge he could use, and he told me "no". He recommended that we install carbon monoxide detectors in the house (we have two), and that we're taking our chances with such old furnace units. On the up side, he told me that I had had a loose wire on the control board and that he had tightened it. Bottom line, I was so concerned about the possibility of carbon monoxide leakage that I called a different company to come out to do another system check.

They do contract work for Home Depot. We went to Home Depot to see about getting a new air conditioner and this was before we joined Angie's List. They were the only ones that worked for them. My review about them would be okay. They also came out in November 2010, on the11th of March and 11th of June 2011. We got the unit in June or July 2010 and they have come out six times to fix it. The first time it was a controller or thermostat as the person did not to set it up, the second time it was leaking water underneath and the third time it was still leaking water. They came out to test the heater six months after they had put it in. It was still not working properly and so, they came out again. Altogether, they came out six times to fix a problem that should have been done correctly during the first time. The frustrating part was that they had to come out six times. Whenever they came out they thought that they fixed had it until the last time when I said to them that they were not doing themselves any favors by doing that. I told them to send somebody that could fix it once and for all. The last time that they were out here was in July and it has been working well since then. They made an effort to come out and so, I would give them credit for that. They came out whenever I called them and so, they were very punctual along that part.

I called Extreme Comfort to get a quote for the AC services. With a $45 tune up special coupon in hand, I specified that we have 2 AC units. The woman that answered the phone quoted me at $49 to come out to the house for both units, and another $49 for the tune up, not including the repair of the malfunctioning AC unit. When the technician Mike arrived, he arrived on time. However, from the moment he walked through the door, I got a very bad vibe from him. He didn't smile, didn't make good eye contact, and appeared to be in a very unstable mood. Mike looked at both the units, and gave me a quote. There was a discrepancy in the cost of the service call and tune up from the quote given over the phone. The quote of the service call was double what I were quoted over the phone. The quote of the tune up was $100 more than what I was quoted over the phone. (Note: these quotes do not include the repair work needed to be performed on the malfunctioned unit. Just the service call and the tune up.) When I calmly questioned the difference in the two quotes the technician immediately became angry, raising his voice and speaking in a disturbing and belligerent tone. Mike talked down to me, was very annoyed at having to explain himself, and kept talking over me. Shortly after, I asked the technician to leave, for the lack of customer service skills bordered on the ridiculous. There is never any reason for a contractor to talk to a customer that way. Without having a complete understanding of the pricing structure, Mike talked me into proceeding with the work. Mike went out to begin the tune up of the AC unit, while I went on studying the written quote given to him by the technician. Something definitely didn’t add up. The manager was called. At first he kept his calm, but the supervisor ended up just as bad. Not before long we were in an all out yelling match over the phone. After the supervisor yelled at my husband, and literally mentioned: “Don’t hide behind the telephone, we’ll meet in person to settle this!” (You be the judge of what that meant). Now here is the interesting part. About a sentence later I mentioned Angie’s List, and the Manager instantly changed his tone. He not only apologized for arguing, but offered to perform all work for free. I decided we would halt all work. The job was never completely finished. I insisted on paying them for the work they did. The Manager did, however, see to it, that I was given a discount. I will never do business with these guys again.
Description of Work: Had one AC that wasn't cooling, and another AC that we wanted to have a company to general tune up. The company changed a capacitor on the one that wasn't cooling, and also said both of the A/C units need Freon.

Extreme Comfort will call us each spring and fall to schedule a check-up. Each time they send the same technician, Mike, who knows our system very well. Mike is prompt and professional, does a good job and even changes the filters for us. We're quite satisfied with the service we've received, and are very likely to renew the contract next year.
Description of Work: Extreme Comfort installed the second of two units we have in our house. When the first unit, not installed by Extreme Comfort, had a drainage problem, we called them. Extreme comfort gave us two options; 1) pay $320 to repair the unit, or 2) pay $859 for a 3-year service contract on both units. That was in 2007. Since then Extreme Comfort has checked our units twice a year and repaired anything not working properly.

Overall, I was pleased with experience. The estimate was all inclusive and a very good price. The estimator probably should have spent more time looking at the layout of the home, # of return ducts, ceiling heights, # of vents, thermostat placement, etc. (more on this later) However, the estimator was on time and was friendly. After soliciting 4 bids, I chose Extreme for several factors, one being they had the best price for comparable services and equipment and have done Home Depot installs. The crew showed up on time and ready to work. They installed the system with no issues, although they did start at 8:30a and didnt finish until 9pm, much later than they anticpated due to fact they were intalling 2 systems in one day. Overall the install went well, they did a good neat job installing the system. After a couple of days, I noticed that the system they installed to cover the main part of my house was not cooling sufficiently. After a couple of service calls, it was decided that a larger system was needed. Extreme was very responsive, including several chats with the owner to fixing this problem, they ended up coming back out and replacing an entire 3 ton system with a 4 ton system for no extra cost. Overall, I am very pleased with this company and the response I received from them when at first I was not happy. My feedback for them would be to spend a little more time in the estimation process by asking questions and taking more measurements.
