Oh yes, I also had a chain link fence behind the old privacy fence that I wanted to keep, although it would require rolling up for the rebuild, and then reattaching. That was done, but very badly!! What was to take one week, took two weeks. When finally a representative from Lowe's came to check the work, and have me sign off on the job, I wasn't there. He told the party at the house that the person I dealt with, from Lowe's, should have cancelled the contract when so much went wrong! I wonder what would they say If I were to cancel the contract after the three days???? I'm so glad it is finally over!!!!!! I never did sign off on the work with Lowe's!!! ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `
Description of Work: The first contractor hired by Lowe's to measure the fence, and to install the fence, measured wrong, lied about forgetting to include the haul away of old fence, and repeatedly refused to keep the curb that was installed to put the fence on. After I was told everything was worked out with this contractor, I agreed to sign a contract for building the fence. However during the three day period when either party could back out, the contractor kept calling me and refusing to haul away the old fence, and didn't want to use the curb! When I called and talked to the person responsible for getting things done, he agreed to switch contractors. When this person went out to measure the fence, he measured 55 feet more than the first person had measured, and also said how much it would cost to clear the path for the new fence, including the haul away of all old fence and trees that would need to be cut down, saplings, in order to build the fence. The price doubled from what I agreed to on the contract. Lowe's agreed to the added cost, but treated me like it was my fault that so much went wrong. From the very beginning I said the fence would be 145 feet long, not 90feet. I wanted the old fence hauled away, the new fence would rest on the curb, and some saplings would have to be cut down, along with one tree, in the back of the property, that my brother-in-law pointed out to the first contractor. I was quoted $2,300.00 on the contract, but had to agree to an additional $1,000.00 for miscellaneous expense that the second contractor,s sub-let contractor said I would have to pay. As I live in Houston, Texas, and the fence was to be built in Abilene, I said I wanted to be there for the building of the fence, as well as a new deck scheduled to start before the fence. I had hired the deck contractor, and he was the sub-contractor hired by the second contractor hired by Lowe's. This person really didn't know what he was doing in reference to the deck or the fence!! Totally unprofessional, and argumentative! I would never recommend Lowe's or Bradley Jay Harroff Tile, Deck, and Fence.
