They contracted for a certain type pergola for $3005 and when I noticed it was not looking like what they should have been building per the photo, I asked about it and the picture we had shown her of what we contracted on she said "I have never seen that picture and if that?s what you want it will cost you about $6000 more". We could not believe it. I asked her again about the picture I showed her and her ?helper? the day we signed the contract in my kitchen and she again said "I don't remember seeing that picture and neither does he". So of course it is my word against theirs. The whole reason I showed her the picture in the kitchen the day we signed the contract was because we had another estimate done which was $9800 and she was saying she could build the same thing for $3005, we thought WOW what a deal!! So I wanted her to look at the picture to verify this ?IS? what we were getting. At first that day she said ?NONo? I don?t need to see the picture then I insisted on showing her the picture saying ?This is what we are getting with the little fancy corners and everything? and she said ?YES? while looking at the picture!! The only difference in the picture and our actual build was the two posts we needed verses there were 6 in the picture but everything else should have been the exact picture, mainly the top of the pergola. My husband said he had also shown her this picture at another time. She said she could never build what was in the picture for? $3005 so we said no more money as we had already given her $2000. We were willing to pay her the additional contracted amount, which was $1005, but she needed to finish it correctly as in the picture we agreed on the day we signed the contract. She came by and took all her equipment, pulled her permit and refused to complete the job!!! They were late several days, only worked a full day maybe three times, didn't even work some days making excuses as to why they couldn?t work, such as oxygen tank is out of oxygen and she didn?t know, lumber store was out of lumber. I had to suggest that there is more than ?One? lumber store in Abilene. The oxygen tank should have been prepared previously, lumber should have been ordered the day we signed the contract, not the day they needed it!!! She asked for a draw the first week into the job after we gave them $1500 which was an ample amount for only the first week. Our contract did say ?draws as needed? but really ?we had already given her $1500 and it had only been 1 week in on a ?$3005? job. We gave her a draw for $500, as we felt we had to because they had already started and we were scared not too. We continued to ask her for a completion date which she refused to provide in writing and would only verbally tell us a few more days. She originally stated 1 week to 1 ½ at most. We were already at 13 days and not nearly finished when this happened. She refused to give us copies of the materials list with cost on it. Her estimate had a total of $3005 but all -0- in the columns so we had no idea how she came to that figure. When I asked her to provide an estimate with all materials cost filled in, she said ?I do not do that as I have been burned in the past by people getting me to fill it out then they go buy the material list I provided and don?t hire me?!!! I believed her and ?trusted? her!!! I actually felt sorry that someone would do that to her!! It was truly a horrible experience and now we have an unfinished pergola that unless it is rebuilt on the top, it will not look what we were so excited to have built. We are also going to be out more money than we had saved to do this job because we have to find another contractor to finish what they messed up. We also had to have this approved by our HOA as per a letter and photo (same photo she saw), now we have to either make sure it is the picture I sent to the HOA or resubmit a letter to HOA explaining what happened and hope they work with us. It is a woman and a man so you may talk to either. She was the one we dealt with.

I don't want anybody to use him because he is nothing but a thief. It was one problem after the next and he always wanted more money. I had nothing but problems with him. He put on shoddy material. He sells you the roof and then he takes advantage of you. I even recommend him to my sister and he did the same thing to her.
