The original estimate that was given to me was approximately $900.00 more than another roofer in the area, but was reduced to match the first roofers estimate. I decided to go ahead and hire this crew because the other roofer had a waiting list of approximately 3 months and I had major water damage happening. I paid them approximately half , so that they could purchase materials. The materials weren't picked up when Johnny originally told me they would be, but they did arrive about a week later. Then it rained, then it was too cold, etc, finally after a couple of weeks, and me having to call him to find out the why's of the job not being started, work began on December 29, 2009. As they were finishing up the front of the house I noticed that the dormers looked patched and were framed with short pieces of roofing instead of using full sheets, the appearance looked like the work of an amateur. When I commented on this, I was told that it has to be that way. They claim that flashing around dormers and a neat and proper appearance cannot be done together. I disagreed and told them that it needed to be corrected, lead crew member called Johnny and he told the to correct it. As the dormer on the back of the house is much larger and because of its location I did not press the issue on that dormer. The job was finished on December 31, 2008, however it was approximately one more week before they came back and hauled off the trash from the job, meanwhile I had to corral the trash into one area, and pick up many screws that where dropped in the yard. Among the job trash were many soda bottles and an old broken boom box. All was well until August 2009, that day it rained heavily and all day and I went into my bedroom and noticed that the bed was wet, I looked up at the ceiling and there was a large bubble full of water. I called Mr Cathey and he said that " it must have blown in, because it hadn't leaked before" and that he would get someone out there to fix the problem. I spent the next week trying to get hold of him again to see if the problem had been fixed, he finally called me back to see how it was holding up to the next rain, and that his guy had caulked the dormer area. Then he asked me if someone had called me for a reference. A week later it rained again and the leak was even worse. I called and all I got was his voice mail. Finally, after calling several times his girlfriend answered the phone and told me he was there before he knew who was calling and I told him the leak was still there and he said that he would take care of it, I asked him to please keep me informed. That was over two weeks ago, I have yet to hear from him, I managed to talk to right hand guy and all he said was that they were really really busy and that he would have Johnny call me, that was last week. I've heard nothing , so I left another message for Johnny explaining that if he hadn't contacted before today 10/06/2009 that I would be putting a review out on Angie's list. The quality of his work with metal roofs is sub-par at best, however he claims to be experienced in the installation of metal roofs, his customer service skills are appalling.
