The insurance contract is dated 12/6/2011 and the date of claim is dated May 26, 2011. I contacted Extreme Installs to replace the hail damaged roof. I wanted to change the color, but Mr Weidenhamer said the exact replacement shingles were in stock at his supplier, and one of his best crews was available to start work immediately, so I agreed to stay with the same color of shingles. Within a few days the "best crew" arrived, which turned out to be three Mexican's, two of which could neither speak or understand English and the third had only a very limited use of the language. They proceeded to rip off the corner of one dormer and damage all the dormer fascias while removing the old shingles. They didn't allow an overhang which exposed the underlying wood to the weather, and when I pointed out the problem, Mr Weidenhamer told me to direct the crew as to the way it should be. They didn't install the ridge vents properly, and didn't install others. During all the time of installation, Mr Weidenhamer repeatedly assured me "we stand behind our work and if you ever have a problem with our work, just call me and we will make it right." After several weeks of his crew looking for the correct vinyl dormer corner they destroyed, I told Mr Weidenhamer not to send out his "best crew" again. On 05/02/2012, Mr Weidenhamer arrived with another crew. The vinyl corners was not exact, so both corners of one dormer was replaced along with one fascia board, while the one with a hole in it was repaired. Again, Mr Weidenhamer assured me his company stands behind all their work and at this time I gave him a check for $9168.57. I also showed Mr Weidenhamer the container of 200-300 roofing nails I had picked up. In Nov 2014, I happened to be in the attic and noticed the ridge vents were not open. On 12/2/2014, I contacted Mr Weidenhamer on his cell phone and explained the ridge vents. He said would have someone come out to check it, that "the crew probably didn't cut the felt paper." Since then I have contacted Mr Weidenhamer a number of times, including via certified mail, but no one has shown up yet. While some time had passed between the time I paid him and I discovered the problem with the ridge vents, and I know the limitations of the law, there is no limitation on a mans word of honor. And since we understand the purpose of ridge vents, I feel Extreme Installs should open, install missing vents and replace improperly installed vents. If the "best crew" had been supervised, I would not be writing this message. Mr Weidenhamer was on the roof the last day and being the expert he is, he most likely noticed the vent problem but decided to not to address the issue.
