 + 0 moreI got a quote for putting in a new 650 ft chip and tar driveway and resurfacing a 100 ft asphalt driveway. There were several delays (reportedly due to weather). When a time slot became available, it was already into the cold season and I was told that chip and tar could not be done. We opted to install the gravel base for the new driveway and finish the job in the spring. The work on the gravel base layer was excellent; neat and professionally installed, for which I was billed and paid. However, that is far as we have gotten. It is now July and I cannot get CAPS out to complete the job. I have called repeatedly and have been given multiple reasons for the delay, and each time getting a promise to get back in touch with me regarding scheduling. Excuses have been a combination of: weather delays, major jobs taking precedence, liquid tar availability, estimator quitting, etc. These are all understandable, but I would think that in 5-6 months, you should be able to get through a 2-3 week backlog and get to my job. I even had some additional work that I wanted them to add to the project; I came close to getting someone out to look at the additional work (someone actually called to schedule a date/time for a site visit), but that also got delayed and never happened. I should mention that the person answering the phone was friendly and seemed sincere in my interactions with her. I really liked CAPs work and reasonable pricing, but getting a response from these folks is like watching rain erode a rock - it takes a little while. CAPs, if you are reading reviews, let customers know if you are not interested in doing their project; don't drag them on. You'll be one step ahead of the competition if you simply communicate with your customers.

Description of Work: The Good: price, decent job. Bad: communication and responsiveness. | |We finally decided to pave the driveway on our old house and after a year of saving up and getting quotes, we went with CAPS because despite their quote being considerably lower than the others, they seemed well-regarded, even by their competitors. Trying to get them scheduled to do the work after we told them we had accepted the quote and wanted them to do the work was a nightmare, however. On the rare occasions we got to talk to an actual person instead of (unanswered) voicemail, promises to get back to us with answers to questions, an actual timeframe for the work, etc. went unfulfilled. I understand that things come up and schedules change, but I do not understand why returning phones calls is hard. Bear in mind, this went on for more than a month, so I do not think I am being excessively picky about this. If we had not just by sheer luck happened to call one more time to get a time frame, we would not have had any idea they were coming the next day. Really? Just show up with heavy equipment one day and start digging without bothering to find out if anyone was going to be home or if there were any instructions or questions to answer? They showed up four hours late the day they were going to start, did not show up at all on day two, showed up sometime in the middle of the day on day 3 (I have no idea when), so a 1 day job took 3 days. I guess if you have a flexible schedule, are not in any particular hurry and don't need to know when paving equipment is going to parked in your yard and your driveway will be unusable, you might be happy with them. The price was reasonable and the work seems decent enough, though it's kind of hard to say anything about durability yet because it's been less than a month. Despite our best efforts, we are seeing tire marks in a number of places, I must admit. Based on all the positive reviews, I wonder if we were just unlucky and caught them at a really bad time, but based on our experience I can't say that I would recommend them.

 + -1 moreBill came out with his daughter Lacy and gave me a complete, professional estimate. I got two other estimates and Bill was the most competitive by far. It was clear that he had decades of experience in addition to a sterling reputation on Angie's List. My drive is a challenge; long with a fairly steep grade, circle at the top, areas that needed total replacement and two portions that co-join with concrete. Bill got the job. Within two weeks, Joey, his operations manager and six workers showed up ready to roll. In a day and a half, they worked non-stop in withering Tennessee heat to totally repaved and replace portions of drive. The end result is terrific. I could not be more pleased with the work they did. All were courteous and hard-working professionals. If I had other asphalt work, Construction Asphalt Paving Service would be my first and only candidate for the job.

 + -1 moreI called around the middle of March to get an estimate on getting my driveway expanded and repaved with asphalt. They were quick to come out, and on March 15th they gave me an estimate for the job. I wanted to get more than one estimate, so I contacted a few other companies. On April 19th, I called them back and informed them that we decided on their company and are ready to get the work done. They informed me that it would take "a few weeks" before they could begin the project. After many calls and e-mails to their company, they finally came out and did the work on June 12th. Two months is a lot longer than "a few weeks" and much longer than what I had expected. For 3 weeks in a row, when I called the company to see when they would be coming out, I received the response that "due to the weather" they are running "a week behind". During the 2 months of waiting, they never initiated a call or e-mail to me to inform me of what was going on or when I could expect them to arrive. The work that they did on the driveway was pretty good, but their lack of communication and professionalism was very disappointing.

Description of Work: They did an exceptional job and we are very pleased. We initially had Bracken come out and give us an estimate and I thought there is no way we can afford to do this after I saw the estimate and I almost gave up on ever getting it done. Our driveway was caving in on a section about 12x10 and we wanted to get that fixed and have the whole driveway resealed. I thought I would try one more estimate otherwise we woulld just have to wait to fix it. I got this companys name from Angie's List based upon previous reviews and I am so glad we did. It was affordablly priced but did not sacrifice quality. Not only did we get the section fixed but we got the whole driveway repaved for less than Bracken wanted to charge to fix the section and just reseal. My husband and I highly recommend them!
