+ 0 moreThe previous owner used this service. We wanted to use the same services initially as they knew our home and what had been previously done. They just seemed to not be interested in doing work for us. Perhaps they are more interested in commercial business and not residential. I just seems difficult to get commitment. The work they did was just Ok. Not great customer service and not very helpful.

They know they are going to need to take measurements so why don't they just do them during the first trip?) Said he would come back to take measurements after the holidays. Weeks went by so I called and left a message in his voice mail. Two more weeks and still no response.

+ -1 moreWe contacted three companies to offer designs and chose Mike Hayes and Associates Landscaping in Franklin, TN to do the job. We worked closely with designer William VanLandingham whose creativity and easy nature made the project a delight from start to finish. We knew basically what we wanted and William added just the right touch of uniqueness in his design to give us more than was expected.
Description of Work: Installed paver patio, sitting wall & fire pit plus plantings around the patio. A small cherry tree, two crepe myrtles and three large yews were transplanted.

I'm happy to post pictures if that helps validate what it looks like now. **** Important Update To This Review **** Mike Hayes (the owner himself) saw this posting and came to our home to let us know he would correct the issues - and he did. He made good by reimbursing us for the water leak in the irrigation system he installed that ran up our water bill. He also repaired the cracking flagstones around the fireplace as promised.
Description of Work: We had Mike Hayes do extensive landscaping, irrigation and install pavers and a fire pit. Two big problems were that the trees were planted too close together and therefore look crowded in one spot and not the others. The bigger problem is with the firepit and the flagstone around it. All of it is cracking because the foundation was not laid properly. It's been a few years so it didn't show up right away. That's the unfortunate part. If we want to get this fixed, we'll have to sue them or pay someone else to dig the whole thing up and re-do the firepit and flagstone. It looked great when done, but if they don't install it right, you'll end up with big major cracks a few years later. + 2 moreI used Mike Hayes because they were used by the previous homeowners. The first time I used them I was happy. The irrigation guy was very helpful and didn't try to add on extra work. After this guy left, it was all downhill. I tried to use them for irrigation and outdoor lighting repair 3 more times. Every time I was very annoyed with some part of the experience - quality and pricing. Lighting and wiring repair was outrageously expensive. I was overcharged for parts (light bulbs 3 times the cost as what I can buy them for at Lowes") and labor seemed high too. I finally gave up on them and have moved on to other companies that I can trust.

+ 1 moreWilliam did our plan. Nice work. We were concerned that we were not getting exactly what we asked for. Despite some specific instructions, we kept getting steered toward plants we did not choose. We checked into several other landscapers for designs and pricing. Although Mike Hayes was most expensive and had less selection, they were far more reliable and professional. So we chose them. Had to push back on a couple of plants. Still think a couple of the bigger trees are not as big as they should have been for the price. They did replace one tree that was unacceptable. The work was done professionally and on-time. It looks great.
Description of Work: Complete backyard landscaping including excavation, installation of stacked stoned retaining wall and planting 19 trees, plus irrigation system.

Nothing happened. Was told all plants and trees carried a one year warranty; not true as the company has failed to replace several plants (and 2 trees) that did not last a year. Tried several times to get the situation fixed; company finally came out and replaced one plant. Had desired to add several more plants and trees but, will now look else where.
Description of Work: Hired to add landscape to our backyard, including sod. Work included preparing beds, planting trees, plants, etc.
