Basically I would NEVER go to this lady in the future ever again, she was not even that savvy, I am actually more tech savvy than she was. But we went to get our system cleaned out a little virus's removed, some computer maintenance, RAM upgrade, and Virus Removal... Basicall she did NOTHING to the system, the spyware was still there, it was embedded in the registery so bad I think she just did not want to do it. So she covered up what she could and made it look good, my wife went and picked it up, upon connecting back to the internet my browser (still Hijacked by Conduit) and all of the PC Optimizer, speed up fast compter, all of those very annoying adware virus's. She was supposed to upgrade our RAM, and I think she TOOK SOME OUT! I did have 4GB DDR 3 we wanted 6 atleast, now there is only 3, so she took the 2GB Stick of Ram and put a 1 GB back in its place. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LADY, if you are in Morristown there are Logon Computer Services, way way high prices and terrible with sales and politeness. Mouse's Pad, still too high Prices, there are a few more and we called around and finally my wifes friend had a card from a guy working on the EAST side of town near the new Food City and Jaybird road. Worked from home but seemed super super savvy, he was nice we even talked for 30 minutes, just about everything, he showed me a lot I did not know, and really I was blown away with what he could do. So we agreed on a VERY VERY good price and left, an hour later get a call to come and get it. It was performing better than when we bought it, He replaced the RAM with a 4 GB stick, I just gave him the one GB as a tip so to speak for the awesome deal, only 40$ and he did much more than just virus removal, he gave us other programs I've never heard of.... He said because all of the other companies do NOT want this company to take over because the Virus Protection he gave us worked off the internet from 5 cloud servers database of Virus's Malware and so on . He removed not only the problems that were bugging me but emoved a lot more because they were bad programs, 25$ a year for this anti virus. Can't beat this deal with a stick as he only charged me 40$ for the speedup and virus removal and all the other tools, this computer is still screaming fast, Super great guy, someone if you seen would never think computer IT guy. But he was the best I had seen as he showed me some of his setup and tricks for WiFi boosting.... Sorry to bash this lady but the truth is the truth... Ummmm he gave me a card or two, its Hcw Systems. Said he was new to business only about 7-8 months in but 20 years experience coding, building, and even doing work on motherboards and other chips even the smallest things he had shown me he fixed like a small thumb drive usb adapter, actually opens it up and solders and what not and has it running again. Amazed, I highly RECOMMEND Hcw Systems, pricing, services awesome, I still call him, I had a problem and he Remote Repaired my problem I was having, he even does remote repairs said he had repaired systems out of state so many he doesn'tremember, but he charges the same low prices. Sorry Thumbs DOWN CHIPMENDERS COMPUTERS, Hcw Systems all day. I told him I was going to do this. I don't think he believed me well HERE IT IS MAN!!!!! CYA GUYS!

I was not computer savvy. The owner of Chipmenders charged me $149.99 for 1G ram upgrade which she said I needed. A week later I had to take my computer to another shop because it didn't work when I got it back. It was then that I learned the ram installed by Chipmenders wasn't even new; it came from a used HP machine and the manufacturer's warranty had expired years ago. A new part from Dell, the manufacturer of my computer, was available for under $20, and it would have come with a lifetime manufacturer's warranty. When I called to complain the owner told me that if I wanted a new part, I should have asked for one. I told her I wanted her to take the used part back and refund my money. She said she didn't give refunds. I told her I was going to report her to BBB and take her to court. She then called the police and made a false report stating that I made at least 8 threatening and harassing phone calls that day. She said I threatened to give her an old-fashioned ass-whipping and told her that her place of business might not be there the next day. Everything she said was a lie. After my phone call to her, she called me 6 times. I never answered; she left nasty messages on my answering machine. I provided the police with my phone call detail report for the day in question, as well as a tape recording of her messages. This lady is a real con artist. I believe she is the one who left the the A rating for her company. So I hope that anyone reading it will take it with a grain of salt. In addition to installing used parts rather than new, documents which were supposed to be retrieved before the system restore were never returned to my computer. The repair shop who got my computer up and running told me to go back to Chipmenders and insist that they check their backup for my documents. They didn't want to do it. Finally, and reluctantly, they did check and discovered files that had not been returned to my computer. I paid over $500 for computer repair services. I shouldn't have had to insist to get my documents back. I shouldn't have had to go to another repair shop to get my computer running. And I shouldn't have had to waste my time providing the police with my telephone call records and answering machine recordings. When I finally got to court my case was dismissed. I have a progressive neuromuscular disease and when I tried to speak the words got stuck in my throat. It wasn't about money, though, it was about decency. There is a right way to do things and there is a wrong way. Chipmenders does not care about developing customer relations. They are more concerned with turning a quick buck. This is evidenced by the fact that they do not accept checks. In addition, customers must sign a statement agreeing to pay an extra 2% + $.25 if using a credit card. To me, this meant paying in cash. When my computer didn't work I had no recourse. I couldn't stop payment on my check; I couldn't file a complaint with my credit card company.
Description of Work: I was charged $546, more than my computer was worth for system restore ($139.99); data retrieval ($139.99); virus removal ($65); parts ($149.99). Charges were way out of line And I am not the only one ripped off by Chipmenders. Three other computer repair shops I contacted for estimates after the fact were aware of Chipmenders unscrupulous practices. (They all had horror stories to tell.) I received estimates from these companies for the same services performed by Chipmenders. All of the estimates were under $100.

Instead of selling me parts she had in stock she told me I could get the same part at another store for less money. While I was in the shop, she also told someone else they could get their product for less at another location. She sells what she believes in and I appreciate that. She will save you money if she can. She worked on retrieving my documents for several days. The system was a challenge to her and she would not let it beat her. She does not do any work unless you sign off on the work and estimated charges.
Description of Work: Document retrieval after computer crash, rebuild computer.
