,.We closed on our brand new house on Tuesday--the hail storm hit Wednesday night and did over $25,000 damage. Roy Cheek Construction was recommended to us. When we contacted Roy, he promised a lot, including 3 to 4 weeks max to get us into the house. The crew often would not show up for days at a time--sometimes arriving after 3 in the afternoon and being gone by dark. All of the sawing was done in the master bedroom. The ceilings they installed on the front and back porches were coming down within two months. The railing on one side of the front porch was not even attached at the top--a heavy wind blew it over. The other railing is sagging. On the back porch, the spindles do not match. The trim on the back door was never finished. We discovered in the 3 months that they took that it was difficult to believe anything that was told to us. Whenever I would ask where we were on expenses, the answer was always, "Don't worry about it, we are fine." On one occasion, when we were waiting for our back door, I was told, "We will be back tomorrow." Over a week-and-a-half later and after more than a dozen phone calls from me he finally called back. (1) He claims that he did not say that and (2) his 3rd or 4th cell phone in the course of our job "was not working." The crew installed the porches on my son's house next door--the roofs leak, the railing was 12" out of line from the top of the stairs to the bottom--with a gap between the railing and the steps big enough for my granddaughter to fall through. When they finally went back to fix it they put the hand railing on backwards--and it is still that way, We were charged for work that was never done, work not completed, or work that needed to be re-done. We were billed for items that we bought and paid for ourselves. For us to move our entire household 16 miles in two trucks by professional movers, we paid $1,200. For his workers to move kitchen base cabinets, a center island, and appliances 15 feet and back, he charged $1,400! Several months later my wife talked me into calling Roy (the majority of the time he was not there with the workers). She said maybe he did not know the extent of the mess they made--finally I called and asked if he would come to the house--with no workers, no clipboard, no tools, and no intention on our part of expecting him to do any more work--we just wanted to show him why we were completely dissatisfied with the job. He said as soon as he got back from another cruise he would contact us--that was over six months ago--and, as before, he still has not bothered to contact us.
Description of Work: Estimate included six windows, exterior door, flooring, heat pump, water damage, blinds, siding, new shingles, etc.

What a horrible experience. First my husband drove by mobile home at old site and saw living room furniture outside in pouring rain. Then when it came time to move the mobile home to our site one of the workers cut the heat pump lines and lost all freon. Then all copper came up missing. The workmen moved what furniture was left to storage area as agreed and sat it all directly on ground with no covering, it was covered with mold at completion. Living room furniture was gone and queen mattress set gone, disappeared with no explaination. The porch lights were not secured, the paint job horrible with runs and not even completely painted, no ceilings painted at all. Paint all over kitchen floor. Vinyl flooring in entryway cut to short, curling up. toilets not flushing and leaking soaked new carpet. Even though they werent supposed to they hooked up plumbing which had to be completely redone. The bathroom doors wouldnt close. The fire alarm malfunctioned which was electrical. The closet doors were like painted cardboard and not hung correctly. When all these things were reported to company owner he assured me they would be taken care of, well when his workman showed up with no tools, and straightened the doors, tightened the porchlights. put down a section of stripping and sloppily painted some spots getting paint on carpet, and told us that was all he could do, per the contract. We with held the final payment until, with a few hundred dollars off, we just wanted to be done with this company. We were lied too repeatedly, had to basically redo everything that was done. Now i fault myself for not checking licenses and bonding because thes guys were definately NOT professional in any way.
