Seaside Pools

After the hole was excavated, an ordinary vinyl swimming pool liner was laid on top of the dirt and a thin layer of concrete was poured over the liner. Rock designs were shaped and painted into and on top of the concrete to try give the appearance that the pool was made of rocks. During the construction, we had a rainstorm. Water built up beneath the pool, causing the liner to float and buckling the layer of concrete. Large pieces of concrete broke off and the liner was also punctured in at least one place. Mr. Noon felt that this could be best remedied by adding a couple of hydrostatic valves to the bottom of the pool. He assured me that this would prevent any future buckling, etc. As construction continued on the pool, we had another rainstorm. Not a severe, out-of-the-ordinary storm, just a standard rain for the area. The pool once again floated and buckled! By September of 2011, we had no completed pool and Mr. Noonan said that in order for him to repair the damage and complete construction of the pool, that we would have to pay him additional money, as could not spend any more money on our pool. I've included pictures of the second round of buckling, which also shows the poor quality of construction, including rough edges, badly painted "rocks", cracked seams and uneven surfaces. There are several qualified, legitimate pool builders in the Middle Tennessee area. Use one of them for your pool construction and leave Mr. Noonan to pursue his karaoke career.
