Mr. Wilson reviewed the job in a timely fashion and got back to me in a reasonable time to let me know his company would not be able to do my job. I appreciated the communication and the honest assessment of his capabilities and not biting off more than he could handle. I wish more contractors would do this!

I wanted to extend my deck along the back of my house. I called JC he came out and gave me an estimate and he began the work. It is unbelievable how professional he is. He matched the new part of the deck with the old part of the deck. Very beautiful job. I will definitely be using him again.

J.C. called back in a day or two after I left a message. He scheduled an on site estimate and explained what he would do and the possible added costs that might be needed depending on how the porch had settled over the years. He followed up with an estimate in writing, and scheduled the work once I had approved the invoice. He finished the job in four days, working each day with his crew, and keeping me up to date on what was done and anything he found that required a decision. The work site was clean when he left it, and he advised on any future work that might be needed. He even primed part of the new wood that the gutter attaches to. Over all it was a very professional job and I'm very satisfied with the results and the price was reasonable for the work performed.

We had decided that the condition of our old wooden patio deck had gotten too dangerous for safe use. Using Angie's List, we contacted two local contractors for bidding on the job, and we decided on J C Wilson Construction. He gave us a time frame for the day and week that he could begin the work, and he showed up right on time at 8:00 with his work crew, and got right to the demolition of the old deck. J C pointed out some of the construction failures of the old deck construction which were primarily the lack of flashing for diverting water away from the house's wooden panel exterior. Before starting the new deck framing, he and his crew installed heavy gauge flashing material at the deck/house interface, and sealed areas of possible water infiltration with caulking. Existing telephone pole were evaluated, and J C replaced three with minimal additional material costs to us. He's been in this business for 26 years, has other construction contacts who could provide savings on some materials (versus purchasing new), and make those savings available to customers. He is all about keeping material and construction costs down while maintaining excellence in quality of work. He met deck code requirements in a county which has relatively few on outside decks. He and his crew were very meticulous in their construction efforts, making sure that rail post placements, baluster, and stairwells had spacing of equal measure. Using near maximum cantilever beyond the vertical base supports, the crew added width to the original deck space, increasing square footage over the original deck's square footage. J C would not allow loose fits or non-square cuts; he is dedicated to a high standard on quality of work, and this showed in the new deck's completion. Beautiful, well-constructed, our new deck aesthetically pops. We couldn't be more pleased, and we would not hesitate using J C Wilson Construction for future projects.

I can't say enough about JC Wilson and the deck he built for me. I found his name on Angie's List and I received several other bids. His was the lowest and he did an excellent job. He and his small crew are hard workers and they were here every time he said he would be here. The deck is solid and well built. I am super pleased. Some other contractors wanted 40% down and a long contract tilted in their favor. JC worked with a handshake, settled after the job was finished and I was completely satisfied. It was the first referral I used on Angie's List and the subscription was well worth it. I highly recommend JC Wilson for any deck project you may have.

The building process took about a week. Mr. Wilson completed the work in between another job and he planned it well; the process went exactly as he said it would. No payment was made until project was completed and I was satisfied. Mr. Wilson was on site directing and working for most of the project and when he was absent his continued to work well without supervision.

They came out and assessed the damage and estimated materials. They gave me a very reasonable estimate. They came back when they promised and completed the work quickly and with good quality.

JC was amazing. He did all of the work and wouldn't let me pay him until the work was complete and I was happy with his work. He was always on time and was very clean. He removed walls and took away all debris. As far as his personality from a previous comment, all I have to say is that he is a little bit country, but there's nothing wrong with that at all. He is honest and trustworthy. If he can't talk at the moment you call, he will ask if he can call back or if you can call back. He lives in Soddy Daisy, but does service the whole Chattanooga area. I live on Signal Mountain and he has come up for my own personal projects as well as my clients. If you want him to travel to change a door lock or something that small, he probably won't do that. He does larger jobs and he does them well. I would definitely recommend him over and over again.

I phoned Mr. Wilson, who answered his phone with and quot;Helloand quot; (i.e. did not identify himself or his business). Although he answered his phone, he clearly had no interest in talking. When I asked if he had a moment to talk, he replied and quot;No, I really don'tand quot;. Then Mr. Wilson asked where I lived, when I replied with my location he responded with words to the effect that it cost him too much to get his workers to the southern part of Hamilton County and that I would be better off hiring someone who works in my area. I could not help but agree that I would certainly be better of hiring someone else. Based purely on this very brief conversation, I cannot recommend this contractor to members in the Lookout Mountain, St Elmo, Southside, or probably Signal Mountain areas.

We were not there as this is our vacation home. I was shocked at the quality and beauty of this deck. Very well built and high quality wood was used he even put in a gate at the top of stairs so my dogs could enjoy the outside without running off. I am so happy I found him as he does all kinds of work. We wil have him do our kitchen remodel next. He is also has good prices and is very dependable. He has me as a customer forever. Beyond satisfied...

JC was great from the start. He was very accomidating to my schedule: initial visit, pricing and then formal bid submittal. He started the job on time as he promised and finished in the timeframe he estimated. He was very personalble and completed the project greater than my expectations. He accomidated adjustment requested by me along the way. I am very impressd and believe this was a good value. He did not ask for a deposit and would not take a progress payment. He didn't want a penny until the job was done and i was happy.

The deck is great. Both jobs were great. We would use him again.

JC WIlson was on time for the estimate of rebuilding my porch, on location for the drawing of the work, material needed etc. He performed the work in one week right on time. Overall a very good experience , I would hire him again.

Getting the bid and the whole estimation process was very good, but after that, I never heard back from them.

A very good experience for me. A very tiny job for J C Wilson. After speaking with Mr. Wilson on the phone he came when scheduled to estimate what work was needed and cost. It took him only moments to determine the source of the falling porch and no longer to explain to a non-handyman how it should be repaired. He scheduled the work a few days later, arrived again on time and completed the job in just a few hours. He was very efficient, quite reasonably priced and clearly and patiently explained to a construction idiot what was involved in the job and why.

I contacted J.C. after reading other reports of his work. We discussed the job on the phone and made an appointment to meet at the site to gather ideas and prepare an estimate. He was on-time and full of great ideas to make the decks look great and not cost an arm and a leg. He had my estimate within a few days and we agreed on a price. The price was several thousand less than I had been quoted from Lowes and Home Depot and still less than two other quote I received from local contractors. J.C. Completed the job in one weeks time. He took great care in making sure the deck was PERFECT. He is a true craftsman and takes alot of prode in his work. Both decks are SOLID. I joked with my wife that if a tornado came through we were going to get under the deck. The house might blow away but those decks we not going anywhere. In short, JC did exactly what he promised, charged exactly what he estimated and built two great decks. He was on-time every day and cleaned the site when he was finished.

They were GREAT! They handled everything from moving the deck furniture off to putting it back on. J C also came up with a nicer design for the posts and railings than we had originally planned. All old material, every scrap of litter, even excess cement was picked up. They completed all of the work in three days and were friendly and very professional.The only reason the price was rated B instead of A is their work is not "bargain basement" cheap, but it is quality work and definitely worth the price. If I need any other carpentry work done, J C Wilson will be at the top of my list. I highly recommend him.

J.C. was referred to me from a friend that has known him since grade school. He came highly recommended and now I see why. He gave me an estimate and drew up a contract for me and showed up on time and got all of the work done within the time period that he told me. I paid him when the job was done. Excellent job!
