We love working with them. They’re a very professional company and very talented at landscaping. They have very good designers. They’re a little bit more than their competitors, but it's worth it. They have good customer service. Especially from a contractor’s standpoint, it’s very easy to work with them.

Overall, everything went well. Jason was very professional and met our expectations. The project was slightly delayed--through no fault of his own--but there were no major issues. We would use him again in the future.
Description of Work: Repaired back yard from previous contractor who abandoned the project midway. Grading of back yard to fill in area from pool that was removed. Reused existing deck material to build a new deck. Enclosed fence where pool sat. Seeded the yard.

I choose Landscape Creation company because of the good reviews. Jason and I have been talking about this project since second part of 2012, by the end of August 2013 we finally started the project. Due to the steep slop, the removal of the old railroad ties took longer then we expected. The stone path started from the first batch of stone delivered, the work went well but slow. His crews need to move each stone manually down hill about 150 feet to start. The project was delayed for three weeks (9/20 to 10/10), Jason's crews did not show up and I was calling and text Jason from time to time.He had problem with the stone vender with batch delivery also it had been raining a lot. By Oct 17, the stone path was done, Jason's crew was able to replace two of the stones that I pointed out too small in size . As planed, on the side of the path, he also did a flat seating area. Jason and his crews created a stone fire pit with five huge stone seat, and that looks real nice. He also build a stone bridge which lead to the fire pit over the ditch with details. The whole project finished by the end of October. It took much longer then was scheduled, due to the weather, the stone vender and his personal issues, but over all, I am happy with the work been done consider that this was not an easy project.
Description of Work: Remove the path of all the old railroad tie which seated on the steep slop that lead to the lake, replace the path with stone steps, a seating area on the side of path. Estimate about 45 feet in elevation, 150 feet long path. create a stone fire pit.

Landscape Creations failed to contact us, and after reviewing several other evaluations I'm not sure that we would had hired. Granted I didn't attempt to call Landscape Creations, but I always use email which allows a busy contractor to contact me when it is convenient for them, which in the past has never been a problem.

I just checked my message center to be sure that I had responded to [member name removed]. This member contacted me on 11/8 about his project. I responded the day after on 11/9 informing him that the best way to reach me was to contact me on my cell phone. He never did. I have always preferred texting or voice communication over email. I apologize to [member name removed] for our miscommunication right out of the gate.

This is a story of DR Jekyll and MR Hyde. Jason completed the first phase of a backyard project for us on 8/2/2013. See our review dated 8/14/2013. We scheduled work to be performed by another contractor the following week, and Jason agreed that we?d be back in contact afterwards to scope and complete the second and final phase of our backyard landscaping project. We began attempting to contact Jason starting on or about Monday, 8/12 as planned. The project, which ultimately ended up requiring about four days of work, took until 9/19 to complete. We had to make numerous phone calls to Jason, many of which went to a full voicemail box. When voicemail accepted messages, it took numerous messages to get a callback. Jason missed several appointments, and he and his crew no-showed nearly every scheduled work day, weather notwithstanding. So each day, we had to make more phone calls and leave more messages to find out whether Jason and crew were going to show up or when they planned to show up next. I am fully convinced that the only reason we got the project completed when we finally did after five weeks, was because we were persistent in calling Jason several times each day, when necessary, to keep the work moving. Jason and his company did a good job on the first phase of our project. And once it finally was completed, he did a good job on the second half as well. Throughout, Jason was apologetic for all of the problems, which he attributed to causes outside of his business. Nevertheless, we feel the numerous delays, no-shows, and lack of communication were completely unprofessional, and we were extremely frustrated and disappointed with Jason?s overall performance on this phase of the project. Unless Jason can convince you that his problems are behind him, you might be well-served in negotiating some kind of performance penalty if his committed project schedule goes late. We had hoped that we had found a reliable replacement for our previous landscaper. Now, we regret we cannot recommend using this vendor.

I am as disappointed in myself for not doing a better job keeping in touch with [member name removed] as I was reading the first line of his review on the second half of his project. We were displaced in the middle of the project by a separate contractor doing some concrete work in the backyard. When I received the call that they were done, we were already in the middle of another job. When we arrived on site to begin the second phase we found additional unforeseen problems below grade with both irrigation and drainage issues. Each of these caused delays because they had to be repaired before I was able to continue with the grading and seeding portion to finish up. It was my impression that he understood because I showed each of them to him in person and he agreed they needed to be fixed. Once I was able to retrieve my skid loader from the other job site I scheduled the finish grading and seeding portion with [member name removed]. We then returned and finished up with no additional problems. I walked through everything together with the customers and they seemed happy with the final results. I even discounted a portion of the work to show my appreciation for his implied understanding not only of the repair/delays but also as to a few caused by some personal issues (which I explained to him in detail but do not want to do here) that I was having at the time. I assured him that the combination of events led to exacerbating the situation far beyond what has been my normal work routine since I started my company in 1996. I will let my Angie's List reviews speak for themselves as to my commitment to my customers, my quality of work, and my work ethic... and I also know from doing this for such a long time that sometimes life just gets in the way of everything you have planned and all you can do is your best to handle it when it does. We contacted Jason as a result of the reviews of his work on Angies List. Jason is a working owner and uses his cell phone to conduct business so, unsurprisingly, it took us a couple of phone tags before we finally connected. Jason came out after a full day of work and spent about 30 minutes with us discussing possible solutions to the drainage issues we wanted to address. We settled on installation of a 40-ft retaining wall and a flower bed behind it, as well as modification of the existing irrigation system to accommodate the new construction. We also asked Jason to do the work necessary to cap off and move any irrigation lines and equipment that would be affected by a related concrete installation project. During the course of this work, we expanded the scope of the project to include locating and repairing a leak elsewhere in the irrigation system, reviewing and replacing spray nozzles throughout the system as appropriate, and some other general landscaping work. Jason and his crew arrived within a few days as scheduled. I was even surprised to see a crew report for a half-day's work on Saturday. They did a good job of carefully exposing the irrigation lines without damage and recovering parts that we can use during reinstallation. The retaining wall also has been completed and looks great. We are on hold for completion of the reinstallation work and remaining landscape pending completion of the concrete work by another contractor and scheduling of Jason's crew. Jason can be a little difficult to get hold of, and we went a couple of days wondering about the pace of the work, but I'm willing to attribute that to the fact that Jason is already working all day, a probably-misplaced expectation on my part of instant response now that we all carry cell phones, and the fact that I'm a former project manager. To his credit, Jason accommodated several changes in the scope of work to be done during the project. He and his team do good work, are dependable, and are fairly priced. We have been having problems with our current landscaper (Jordan's Landscaping) and hope to replace them with Landscaping Creations for our future work.
Description of Work: Company was called to help us determine a strategy for mitigating drainage problems in our back yard and to perform irrigation system preparation for a related concrete installation project. Consultation resulted in decision to build 40-ft retaining wall and flower bed, make changes to irrigation system layout, and perform some other general landscaping.

Jason did a great job with our backyard. We had a huge concrete slab/driveway that took up almost half of our yard. Jason cut out most of the concrete, used the remnants to level out the space, and made a beautiful new set of back steps, patio, and drainage in our yard. He also made a great little fire pit. He finished with leveling out the yard, laying sod/seed, and planting some plants. The project was extensive and took more time than we would have liked, but most of that was due to a very rainy spring (and the need for dry ground to do the next steps in the project). We would definitely use Jason again in the future. He envisioned the project, created exactly what he said he would, and kept the cost to a minimum. Now we have a very enjoyable backyard instead of a concrete parking lot. We love it!

Although Jason had some difficulty in getting started due to weather and illness, once he committed to the project, he showed up when he said he would and worked side by side with his men. They were very nice guys and Jason was great in giving me advice about plants, grass seed, mulching and answering all of my questions. I will be using him again in the future and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Jason and his two workers dug up our lawn to create a stone walking path across the front of our connected homes and buried a drainage pipe from the downspout out to the curb. They used the extra dirt to fill in low areas of our lawn and created a much more eye pleasing design for our mulched garden area on either side of the walkway. They worked quickly and knew what was needed to get the job done. It was completed in two days.

Never responded to my calls or requests for an estimate. Never bothered to say they were too busy and find someone else. No response at all. Like a fool I kept waiting and calling leaving messages.
Description of Work: I called this business no less than 8 different times. I listed one June date since the system only allowed for one date. There were several dates between April and June of 2012. I left numerous messages. On the messages I said that I was interested in having an irrigation system and sod installed at my residence. I needed some (3 to be exact) places built up or filled in with added dirt before the sod would be laid. I never got ONE response, not ONE! I left my home phone (a land line), my cell phone and my work number. I can receive messages on all three. I never saw a missed call (thinking perhaps they called and left no message) either. I guess they didn't need my business.

I know from experience as an owner /operator how it is possible to loose track of things from time to time in my daily responsibilities. However, I am completely confident that it would not happen the excessive number of times stated above. I have reviewed all of my records including both home and business phone voicemails, emails, and text messages and cannot find anything in my search results containing this member's name. I truly believe that she must have me confused with a different company. The Angie's List team has made multiple attempts to contact the member but as yet there has been no response from her on this matter to clarify exactly what has happened.

I can't say enough about Jason and Landscape Creations! Jason was always available when I had questions or concerns. He was very aware of our budget and always took steps to stray within it. We will definitely use them again when we install our fire pit and update our front yard landscaping.
Description of Work: Jason with Landscape Creations redesigned what was once a washed out, overgrown, neglected backyard. He came to our house several times before starting the work and was very knowledgable and forthcoming. He had several ideas on how we could eliminate our drainage problems and reuse existing landscape to create an updated, beautiful backyard. Landscape Creations regraded the portion of the backyard that was flooding, installed new beds to redirect water drainage, created a wonderful dry creak that also aids in water drainage. The most attractive addition to the backyard is the stone that Jason brought in to create many focal points. He also accompanied me to the nursery where we decided on many plants and trees that added to the continuity and peacefulness of the backyard. We also had the backyard sodded and seeded. It transitions perfectly into our existing side yard. Landscape Creations also installed two different watering systems (our request). The drip irrigation system waters the bed plants and trees. The sprinkler system waters the grass. These systems are fantastic since now we no longer have to set up sprinklers and move hoses all around.

We started with a horrible back yard full of weeds and a small square cement pad the builder had poured. With a small back yard that was held in by a retaining wall we needed to make the most of our square footage to create inviting spaces and take advantage of the view. We invited Jason to come and give us a bid after we had seen several pictures of his work. We wanted someone who had a great eye for creating a natural looking yard with serious hardscaping that was very low maintenance. He gave us everything we asked for. HIs bid gave us a detail of what each item would cost so we could customize our desires to our budget. He also gave us helpful advice on achieving our overall goals at a lower cost. Jason's design work is incredible. He gave us a multilevel back yard that incorporated a garden, fire pit area, barbecue and table area, meditation area, several private gathering places, a gorgeous water feature, and the entire back yard is low maintenance. The best part of his design is his attention to the details. As we walked around the yard he helped us plan around the drainage issues (lots of them we had never thought of) and he gave us creative ways to incorporate the drainage into the design. He also put a lot of thought into the views from various angles, the sun and shade at different times of the day, how the flow would work with a crowd, how it would look during each season, and how it looked from our back windows. He even fixed some of the drainage issues our builder left! Jason arranged to start our yard as soon as he finished some projects he was in the middle of. Our landscaping committee made it difficult to get things approved but Jason worked with us to prepare the paperwork so we could get final approval and get started. Throughout the project the only real delays we had were weather delays and some unforeseen equipment problems. Jason's crew is great, they were all very polite, and worked through some crazy hot weather. My husband had some strong opinions about how the water feature should look and Jason was very patient in working with him and we think it is terrific. When the time came for planting he met me at a local landscaping place to pick out plants but I really just gave him a general idea of what I was looking for and let him take care of the details. I had mentioned once early in the process that I would love a peach tree and he included a dwarf peach for me in a lovely location near the patio. Once all of the plants were set where they were intended to go he had me come out and make any changes I wanted. With very few changes they all went were he had planned. When everything was done he was very conscious of cleaning up any materials they brought in and reseeding my side yard where some of the equipment had killed the grass. It has more grass now than when he started. We would recommend Jason to anyone looking for some serious hardscaping who wants a natural look. We will be using him again when we put in a built in BBQ and work on our side yard.

The work was a bit more expensive than we expected and a bit more than other estimates.Angie's List reviews for him were positive and he did a great job for us. We initially hired him to take care of the the front steps. But decided to have him do other work he recommended in the back. The yard looks much improved thanks to his efforts, and we hope that some of our drainage problems will also be addressed-- an added bonus.
Description of Work: Jason re- mortared the stone steps in the front of our house and filled in with mortar stones in the back patio. Additionally, he set a stone walkway and created a short dry bed for drainage.

I contacted Jason several months ago to come give me an estimate on landscaping my front yard. I found out once he arrived that he was also able to fix the soil grade behind my house and to repair a piece of stone that was pulling away from the side of my house. (A really big plus since I was able to complete several projects with one person). We had a couple of meetings over the course of a month or so. During the first meeting we discussed the possibilities for my landscaping. I sent him an email after that with the plants I preferred in my landscape desgin. During our second meeting we visually laid out the landscape and using his suggestions and experience with my plant preference we picked out plants that complement the house and are easy to care for. Once we finalized everything he was able to complete by project in about 1 and 1/2 days. My project was smaller in scale for him, so he asked me if I could wait until he had some bigger projects as well because he prefers to buy the materials (plants, etc...) all at once, rather than here and there. I agreed - and although it did take longer to start my project than I had hoped, it was definitely worth the wait. Jason works on every project himself, which is a big plus once he gets to you, but it may mean you have to wait if you have a smaller project. Again, if I had it to do all over again I would do it the same. Everything was done to a T - including proper drainage and mulching. Jason was also very generous with tips for my yard that I could do myself to improve the look of things. He did not nickel and dime me for his advice and stuck to the budget we agreed on. Our yard really looks beautful and we are looking forward to spring. We were also pleased with the soil grading and stone repair he did. They both look very nice and were done at a reasonable price.

Very good recommendations. Easy to work with and quite knowledgeable. Did exceed the budget but the results were excellent so I was okay with it. We were not wanting to be overly involved in the plant selection just because we lacked the time. The design and selection were spot on. A lot of thought and care went into the selection and placement of all the plants so we were very pleased. He also researched Maple trees to recommend one that stands the best chance of being a true orange in the fall which was important to me. We have a lot of clay in our soil so he improved the soil before planting. There were also downspouts on the outside of the house that emptied into the new bed. Some additional work was necessary to divert that into the yard. Using rock instead of mulch requires a great deal of labor but the end result is quite nice. This is not a project we would have been able to do on our own. Overall it was the right decision for us and we are happy with the results. We expect to be able to enjoy it for a long time to come.
Description of Work: Removed, replaced and relocated bushes in all the front landscaping. Designed plant layout for a new bed in the rear of the house and completed the installation. Added new rock to both areas rather than mulch. Planted a new maple tree in the back yard. Also did some drainage improvements in the back.

My husband and I had a slight grade issue in the backyard. We called Landscape Creations and spoke with Jason. He was very professional and his response was quick. He felt the problem was minor enough that we could correct the grade issue ourselves, to save us money. He told us how to grade the area over the phone. We did as he instructed and the problem was corrected. He did not charge us a dime, and we spent less than sixty dollars on the materials and sweat. When we are ready to landscape our new home, we will be calling Landscape Creations to do the work. We were very impressed with Jason. He is very knowledgeable.

He did an excellent job. I never even notice the repair. I love the front of this house and was really upset when the damage was done. Jason made it go away. I really thank him and appreciate his hard work and attention to detail. And am glad to have this place to say so. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Jason responded quickly and professionally in response to our request for a quote to repair a stone wall,2' thick, which was cracked horizonally as well as vertically, and corner post, 3' square, on the front of our porch. ( The result of a middle-of-the-night hit and run.) The concrete cap was cracked in four places. The wall is 90 years old and I was afraid he'd never be able to make it look right, There's a section of the wall on each side of the porch at the front door so it had to match.

Overall I was very pleased with both the results and the whole process, from start to finish. I first contacted Jason Licsko through Angie's List on 5/1/2012, and he promptly replied the next day. We made arrangements for him to come out and look at the job on 5/5. He emailed back with his estimate of $2500 and 3 days on 5/8. He was ready to start earlier, but my wife and I wanted to be home when the work was being done, so we arranged for a start date of 5/29 right after Memorial Day. Jason had another complicated job that ran long, and he promptly let us know that he would have to reschedule our job because of it. We rescheduled the start date for 6/14 at 8:00 am. About 8:00 am on 6/14 Jason called ahead to let us know that they were running behind due to a flat tire on the loader and would be there at 9:00 am. Jason and his crew arrived at our house promptly on 6/14 at 9:00 am. They were very professional and friendly. The started with demolition of the deck, which went very smoothly, in spite of having to remove a bee's nest. The second day started with the demolition of the pool. Jason figured out a way to break up the concrete with the loader that did not involve bringing in a bunch of noisy jackhammers and was very efficient. They completed work on the pool demo the following morning. The excavation and grading was completed by the end of the 3rd day. Jason noticed that we had Bermuda grass, and made sure that the rhisomes from the Bermuda grass that had been dug up were distributed throughout the top layer of soil and that these would grow and fill in once they received water. They completed their work for the day by cleaning up and removing the debris that we had asked them to haul away. Initially, Jason was unable to complete the tree limb removal portion of the work as we had some poison ivy growing on the tree's trunk. When he was preparing to leave, we discussed this and he also mentioned that there was more debris to haul away from the pool and deck demo than he originally thought, although he was going to leave the price at $2,500. I offered to pay another $250 up front to offset the extra expense and to have him come back and do the tree limb removal. He agreed to this, and he came back on 6/23 to spray the Poison Ivy with Roundup, and then we waited for the poison ivy to die. I let him know when that had happened, and he came back on 7/25 to do the tree limb removal. We were very impressed with the results of the work that he did for us and the attention to detail. The Bermuda grass is filling in nicely just as he said it would, and the yard looks great. Jason was very easy to work with, was responsive and punctual, and always let us know what was going on and when there might be delays or potential problems. We also had looked at some pictures of his work on other jobs and discussed potential future work that we might have done. We were impressed with the aesthetics of the work that he showed us in the pictures. We would definitely consider having him come back to do other work for us in the future.
Description of Work: We had a pool that was approximately 26' x 18' with a wraparound deck that was approximately 35' x 29'. The shallow half was above ground, and the deep end was excavated to provide an 8' depth. There was an electrical outlet that supplied electricity to the pump. We asked that everything (pool, deck, electrical outlet) be demolished and hauled away, and the hole where the deep end was excavated to be refilled. We still had the dirt from the excavation in a mound in the back yard, and we asked that the dirt from the original excavation would be put back into the hole and the grade of the yard should be level and the ground reseeded when the job is completed. Below is the actual text from the estimate: Remove deck, pool, and grade including topsoil (if needed), seed, and straw. We had also described some additional, minor tree work (removal of two dead limbs) that we wanted done, and some additional debris (yard decorations, firewood and tree debris) that we wanted hauled away. The original estimate came to $2,500, and it was estimated that it would take 3 days to complete all of the work.

Overall it went fine, though the weather occasionally interfered, and Jason had to give his regular clients their standard service before returning to me, so the process took somewhat longer than expected. Fall may be a better time to install than spring, but summer is when you need watering. I feel very fortunate to have installed the system this spring, given the heat and drought. It saved me a lot of time and effort, not dragging long hoses from spot to spot. With sprinklers a lot of water is wasted, so this system is also saving water.
Description of Work: Jason Licsko od Landscaping Creations LLC installed a drip-irrigation system in my garden, his largest installation of this type so far. The garden is planted with trees, shrubs, ferns, wildflowers, perennials and ornamental grasses; there is no lawn. Sturdy plastic water pipes with slits in the bottom are laid on the beds to provide moisture without wasting water. The system is divided into two major blocks, one running every other morning, the other every second afternoon (unless it has rained). Each of these systems is subdivided into three parts, each running for a certain length of time and controlled by a standard clock system. We may have to make some adjustments (add more pipe, shift some slightly) later in the year. I omitted a few areas which normally take care of themselves, but in a year when drought and heat are abnormally high, as in 2012, they should have been included. Pipes cross paths underground; in the beds they are covered with layers of mulch.

no work has been done yet. But I look forward to working with Jason in the future.
Description of Work: I just talked to Jason about a repair to the backflow for my irrigation system. He answered the phone which I am not used to because every time I call the company I have been using for twenty years, I have to leave my name and number and wait for them to call my back at their convenience. I discovered a leak after my neighbor noticed it and realized it had been leaking for several days. It was installed next to the foundation on the opposite side of my house where I cannot see it. The backflow leaked several years ago and water damage (mold) to the finished basement cost several thousand dollars to clean up. I called Jason and he was very helpful. I appreciated the time he spent talking to me in a very busy time of year for irrigation companies. He was very helpful and honest about not being able to come promptly but referred me to a trusted associate. I look forward to working with him in the future.

Jason was not able to repair my system at the first appointment and was in high demand. I figured he was too busy to handle such a small project. He called me the morning of the 13th ans apologized for forgetting me, he came right out and spent most of the day digging up my system trying to locate the valves controlling the spray heads, they were covered with grass. Finally he was able to locate the ones that were stuck, he took them apart and found debris in the assemble., put them back together and my system is running great. I worked right along with him so maybe that is why he gave me suck a great price! He will be my go to guy if any more problems come up, not just because of price but because of ability to stay with me until it was done right. I had others come out but because of the complexity of the project they never called back. I got one quote of 1200.00. I don't believe he wanted the job and priced himself accordingly. Thanks again Jason!

Response from Landscaping Creations LLC
This project was literally around the corner from me. I thought it was going to be a quick visit to repair a broken PVC pipe at the back-flow valve. However, it turned out that during the break trash got into the main line causing a few of the valves to stick open resulting in those zones running continuously with the system on. There was no zone identification chart in the timer box and to complicate matters further, the Bermuda lawn had grown over almost every valve box cover that wasn't located in a bed. After making a few assumptions - some of which were correct and others which were not - I was able to locate the 2nd valve box that contained the final valve that was stuck in the open position. With team work and a shop vac we were able to clear the valve in it's original position. This client was very helpful and even offered to fill back in all the areas that we had damaged during the repair process. It was very satisfying to have been able to help him get his system up and running just in time for the summer drought!
