I backed a trailer into the house a/c unit and busted the coil open. I called the insurance company and they said put in a new unit. I called a company that I was dealing with before this unit and they said they don't have time to install a new unit. I called A1 to install a new unit. They sent down their best man to do the work. He measured the house, checked the insulation, windows and doors. He had a forumla that he used and his output was to install a three ton unit. The unit he was replacing was a four ton unit. He said the new unit was more efficient and would work better for the house. He stated it would save electricity in the summer. So I agreed to let them replace the four ton unit with a three ton unit. They did what I think was a great job installing the unit. It had a problem with a electronic part in the unit. They came back the next day and placed a jumper on the card so it would heat the house. It worked very well, to the point of me stopping cutting wood and burning it to keep the house warm. Well that is where the good stuff stops. In the summer when you need an air conditioner you suffer. Set the thermostat on 74 on a hot day and forget it. The unit will NOT keep up with the thermostat. The unit runs continually. I am sure that Pulaski Electric Company loves this installation company because the bill does not go down and the unit NEVER shuts OFF. I called them down to check the unit and a different technician showed up. He checked the unit. He said the coils were dirty. He cleaned the coils. They sent me a bill around a hundred dollars. The unit still ran constantly. It will NOT cool my house in the summer. The thermostat is set at 75 degrees and the house was 92 degrees. Obviously there is a major problem with their formula for deciding what unit to put in. I know I agreed with them to install a smaller unit and I know it has been several years past the installation date. BUT I still have the same problem. The unit is too da-- small for the house and it runs all day long trying to cool the house. If you use this company do NOT believe their formula for what your house needs. INSIST on a BIGGER unit. Your electric bill will be lower with a bigger unit. I know now I should have insisted on a four ton unit. Smaller and more efficent my a55. I know they are NOT going to do anything about my unit. I just want others to know what happened and to be a little smarter than me.
