Went great. Twice they were late, had to reschedule but they made up for it by extra care and service when they got there.

They showed up right on time, checked it thoroughly, pointed out a minor concern or two and left me with an estimate.

They haven't contacted me to schedule the service even though it's been a month

Very professional. Called in advance to let me know they were running a bit behind due to weather that day. They arrived exactly when they said they would. Promptly started the job and left everything as clean as when they started. I was already aware that the chimney needed some repairers. The quote to repair the chimney was very thorough, both written and verbal overview. I appreciated the 'soft heads up' as to the cost of the repairs. Indeed, it was a hard pill to swallow ... lol. Thanks for a job well done.

Unfortunately, I am not pleased with the appearance of the final product, however the functionality is intact. I have a very small fireplace in a small living room. This was designed in the 1950s as a coal burning fireplace. It's shallow, short, and narrow. I found a wood-burning stove on-line that fit into the space perfectly. These guys are responsible in terms of scheduling appointments for estimates and in showing up for the job on time. They were courteous and knowledgable. They explained every step of what they were going to do to my satisfaction. As they installed the project on the roof, they took pictures and video of what they were doing. They were relatively clean and also efficient. They remarked to me on how much they appreciated that I was prepared and that I had everything ready and how easy the job was going to be because of that. Now for the bad part and this really does upset me every day and multiple times every day. The fireplace is a focal point of the room. I wanted the wood stove to enhance that focal point, but it is now a detractor. It is not centered within the fireplace opening laterally, that is, from side to side. There is at least one inch greater space on the left side of the stove versus the right side and it is inescapably noticeable. It p*sses me off every time I look at the dadgum thing. They also left the job site before they leveled the stove. So they just weren't concerned at all it seems about the aesthetics of the final product. I called them back to the site soon after they left and fortunately they were still nearby having lunch so they came back right away. They did level the stove then, but told me there was nothing they could do about the centering of the stove because, "that's where the pipe came down." Now, I don't accept that. I may be ignorant of how this works, but I think it's because they didn't position the stove before they cut the hole in the shroud through which the pipe exits up into the chimney and they didn't want to take it all out and have to recut that shroud, reinstall it and reattach the pipe. If I'm wrong about that and they want to make a case about it that sounds logical, then I'm willing to void this review, but I really think that's what was going on. They just didn't want to deal with it. It was a quick easy job, they made some money on it and didn't want to cut into that profit by spending anymore time on it. I feel badly about writing something like this, but I've sat on these feelings for over a month in order to ensure that I'm not going off half-cocked. Additionally, I should add that when I called the company to report the problem, they told me they'd address it. I should have made more fuss when they came back, but I didn't, just accepting their excuse and not questioning it. The company never called me back to see if I was satisfied with the work. I called them one additional time about something completely unrelated and stated that I loved the stove, but was unhappy with it not being centered in the fireplace opening. They simply didn't say anything about it to me.

The previous owners had sadly neglected the chimney and the Mad Hatter fellas were able to clean the chimney and provide me reassurance all was in order. They will be back out to rebuild a crumbly back wall -- and I'm confident they will do a great job of that too.

I finally got it done. They were not very responsive through Angie's list and so, I finally got them to call them to call me. I had used them before and they are good. It saved me a little money. I gave them an A for the service because they were fast, they were early. However, it took forever to get a hold of them.

I contacted Mad Hatter by phone regarding masonry chimney repair and during the course of the call they hung up on me. I thought it was perhaps accidental and waited for them to call back but they never did, when I tried to call back they never picked up. I emailed them later that day but never received a follow up. It shouldn't be this difficult to get a response from a business.

Site visit review of all requested items (clean ducts, chimney interior, repair chimney crown) seemed very positive. Representatives were informative, polite, responded well to questions. We requested documentation for chemicals and insurances - which reps said was no problem. No quote was ever delivered after the provider's site visit. We emailed the provider on thru their website contact page. We have not been recontacted by this provider. Our recommendation - be careful when dealing with this provider - or - choose an alternate.

I have a fire place insert so it has to be removed before the cleaning could take place. They had the right equipment in place to remove the insert and clean out the chimney . They did a real thorough job and I am well pleased. They cleaned up afterwards and you would not have ever known they were here unless you were.

They cleaned out all vent lines to the unit and said I had no water issue, no mildew issue. That was comforting. Three men showed up and worked continuously for 4 hours. They did a great job.

Guys did a great job. I would recommend them to others

They called to inform me that they were on their way. Arrived a bit early and completed the job in a timely manner. I was very happy with the work they performed. I will be a repeat customer as I will be getting this vent cleaned once a year.

That turned out good. I don't think the price was unreasonable.

Mad Hatter arrived on time and with a cloth to cover rugs. Once man vacuumed while another went up on the roof to sweep the chimney and inspect it. They found damage I was unaware of to the chimney cap presenting pictures of my roof as documentation and gave me an estimate on the spot. Fast service, they were in did the job, and out, in 30 minutes.

Not well. He talked about recently losing his wife which is terrible. But he complained about the difficulty of the job to the point I told him to forget it. I would have someone else come out and look at it. He then charged me $118.

They were on time and very professional. They explained how we should build a few small fires to cure the panels before building a roaring fire. They answered all our questions and performed the work in a timely manner. One of the panels developed a crack, and we called them. They apologized and came out the next day. They repaired the panel and said if we have any problems to call them and they would come out, which I believe they would do that. I was happy with the work and glad they stood behind their work. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Excellent. Fully insured. Prompt. Courteous. Will use again next year.

.Due to extreme rain in Knoxville, they did not show up on time. They did call and asked to do the job 90 minutes later. They performed the job professionally and quickly. I will use them again and recommend Mad Hatter Chimney Sweep service.

Answered all my questions and explained my options, costs, and differences in the choices. Gave me excellent information, though I haven't decided yet which to choose.

It was done in our old home which we no longer own. Our new home doesn't have any need for chimney cleaning. They came and did what they did. They tried to sell me stuff I didn't want. Other than that, I have no complaints. I will not use them again because I have no need for their service.

Three men came. They were very professional and knowledgeable about the product when I asked questions. I will absolutely call them again as needed.

It was very good. They did what they were supposed to do and were neat about it. They were here on time- they were two.

Courteous, prompt, professional. Removed and cleaned all grills and diffusers and ductwork and cleaned out the chimney. My allergies have benefited.
