I chose a carpet with pet stain resistance. It was installed and a short time later began to come apart at the seams. One at the hallway/living room, and two different areas in the living room. I called Dallas the owner of D and M. He said he would send someone to fix it. I had to call several times before he would follow through though and send installers to repair it. When they came, they ran a small chrome looking utensil across it, I told them that would not take care of the problem. They left. About a week later, I called Dallas back to let him know the problem still existed and now the fibers were coming out and making a bare spot. He sent them back again, they took a hot iron and tried to fix it. Again, that did not work. He then sent the same installers back again. They said they could not fix the problem and left. I called Dallas again and he came himself to look at the carpet. He asked if my dog had been picking at the carpet. I explained my dog had never had an interest in picking at carpet. I showed him two other separate areas in the living room where the seams were also coming loose and the fibers were coming out. One area where the same problem was occurring was an area where the dog never was because the entertainment center sat there. It was as though the carpet would not hold a seam. When he saw that, he said he would replace the carpet. Finally in February 2014 he set a date to re-install the carpet. I told him that due to the attitude of the previous installers and their body odor, I did not want them to be the ones coming back. I asked if he could send someone else to do the work. He said he would send his brother to do the job. His brother came in approximately March 2014 and installed the replacement carpet. As he was leaving I told him the area around the wood floor entry way looked like the carpet was cut too long on one end. I expressed concern that the carpet fibers would come out and create a bald spot. I also showed him where the carpet now did not come up to the edge of the wood at the entryway and the gap was big enough to fit fingers in. The space was wide and looked bad. He bent over and brushed the carpet forward where the carpet was cut too long and where the gap was (as if that would take care of the problem permanently). He assured me that would not be a problem. As time went by, it did become a problem though. The carpet fibers began to come out of the corner near the entry way, starting to create a bald spot. I called Dallas repeatedly. My husband also began to call as he would not return our voicemails. When he did answer his cell, he said he would send his brother over but he would have to get back with us as to when that would be. Then we wouldn't hear from him. At this point we're at the end of July 2014. Dallas had told me the middle of July, his brother lived in Kentucky and he was waiting for his brother to have a job down this way so he could do it all in one trip. He also mentioned his brother had been off a week with his back hurting. I asked if he had any other installers. He told me no, just the original installers and his brother plus a man that worked with his brother. While waiting for his brother, the bald spot was getting bigger. I left a voicemail for Dallas on August 2, 2014. In the voicemail I told him that we had been on the back burner since April trying to get this done, we deserved to have this taken care of. I stated I would wait until noon Monday August 4, 2014 for him to set a definate time and date that he would have someone here to fix the problem. I also said if I didn't hear from him by then, I would fill out public reviews on his company of how we were being treated. He called Monday morning, August 4th, at 7:16 am, telling me he would have his brother at my house on Tuesday, August 5th at 6:00 am. The next morning his brother and another installer arrived at 6:45 am. They were not very friendly. They started working on the carpet and the brother decided he was going to have to stretch the carpet. He brought in a 4"x4" post, and had the other installer place it against the woodwork across the room. It looked like to me that the post was up against my grandfather clock, sure enough when I went over to look, the post was wedged against my wooden grandfather clock. I asked him to move it so that it wouldn't scratch my clock. He did move the post over a couple inches and then they continued stretching the carpet. The brother went over to get the post and as he was dragging it across the carpet it raked against the corner of my clock. I commented about him doing that and he denied doing it. I said "Yes you did, I heard it and I saw it". He then ran his fingers across the corner of the clock and said "It didn't hurt it". They then decided to try to stretch the carpet a different direction. He picked up the post and placed it behind a chair against the other wall. As he was doing that, I asked him to be careful around the furniture when placing the post. He did not respond but did not hit any furniture this time. He stretched the carpet and said it was fixed. Looking at the carpet, it looked the same as before he fixed it. Although the hole was a bit smaller, it was still there. I told the brother that it was still not fixed. My son-in-law arrived at that time as the brother was telling me all the furniture would need to be moved out of the room so he could stretch the whole carpet. I asked him if he could move the furniture out since they had done that originally when they installed the carpet. He said "No, I won't move your furniture, you're too picky with your furniture". My son-in-law heard him and in response to the tone of voice from the brother and what he had said about me, my son-in-law uttered a (one) curse word. The brother immediately blew up at my son-in-law and started yelling at him that he was not going to be cursed out. The brother turned around and went out the door still yelling at my son-in-law as he went across our porch and sidewalk. He got in his carpet van, and my son-in-law went outside to go to on to work. The brother got out of his carpet van and was pacing up and down my driveway talking on his cell phone and then he left. I texted Dallas with a picture of what his brother did to the carpet. I explained to Dallas the problem was still not corrected and also what happened with the 4"x 4" post and my furniture. I told him I had asked the brother if he would move the furniture since my husband was on a walker from recently having a stroke and that his brother responded he would not, that I was "too picky". I explained that my son-in-law uttered a curse word in response to what the brother had said about me and the tone of voice he used with me. I told him the brother had taken a tool and created an indention in the carpet along 2 sides of the wood of the entry way. It looks horrible. I sent him pictures of that. I explained that his brother had brushed the carpet over the hole in an attempt to cover it just as he had done back in April. Dallas did not answer my message, so at 9:08 am I messaged him again, telling him I needed to know by 5:00 pm that day, a date in the near future that this would be made right. I explained that if it wasn't repaired, I would have to begin writing public reviews along with pictures for other customers to see when deciding where to purchase carpet and have it installed. Dallas text me back saying "Your dog is the source of the problem". He said he has "the old carpet and the results of the lab test showed that the problem was urine and scratching. If your going to try and slam our business I will reply back with the real problem". I text him and said he had told me the reason he replaced the carpet in approx March was "because it was defective". The problem was the carpet would not hold a seam, the seams came up around our entertainment center where the dog would not be. I also texted "I showed your brother the problems with the new carpet around the entry way before he left that day in March when he replaced the original carpet. He brushed over the carpet in the problem areas back then and assured it me it wouldn't be a problem. As people walked across it the fibers began to come out and created a bald spot. He told me it would not be a problem but it did become a problem. My dog has never been one to pick at carpet. Yes there are urine stains on the original carpet, but that has nothing to do with the workmanship of this installation". He texted "pet urine has everything to do with the way carpet holds up, it will destroy everything it touches in due time, the urine makes the back and fibers come apart, its like pouring acid on it and letting it eat away". I texted "there was no urine anywhere near the entry way on the carpet that was originally installed. If you will look at it, you will see that. Breaking down could not have been the problem with the original carpet in those areas. But getting back to the current problem that showed that day before your brother left when he installed the replacement carpet, I had asked him to fix it before he left the day he installed it and he assured it would not be a problemj. But it has become a problem and the bald spot was getting larger. No one is trying "slam" your business, I would only be showing pictures of your companies work on sites that ask for public reviews and letting the public know how this is being handled by your company". Pictures will show the workmanship. I have had no response from Dallas since that last text message on August 5th at 10:46 am. One additional note, when installing other carpet in our bedroom, he attached the carpet directly to an unglued area of vinyl flooring that comes out of the master bathroom without making sure that vinyl was smoothed out flat before attaching to it. This has caused the vinyl to be hooved up in that area. He was supposed to have fixed that also on August 5th, but it was not addressed.
