I have been getting estimates from multiple companies to repair my foundation which is starting to bow. USS was the first one and when I asked what we needed to do to fix this problem the sales representative said that either steel beams or carbon fiber strips need to be installed. I asked if after the beams were installed would I have any other issues and he stated no not at all since I have caught it early. I received a quote on steel beams from this sales rep. After multiple other quotes I contacted him again and asked to write a quote using carbon fiber along with a dig out. I did this because all other quotes I received stated if I wanted to truly fix the issue a dig out was needed. That no matter what, the water needed to get away from the house along with all the others told me what was actually painted on the inside of the walls was a sealer which causes foundation damage. The USS sales rep made no mention of this at all. I also had a structural engineer come out and he stated a dig out was needed in order to completely correct the problem. The USS sales rep then proceeded to tell me over the phone that USS does not use carbon fiber strips (funny, they are listed on their web site). That they have way too many problems with them. He did however write me a quote on the dig out but insists on steel beams which are not only more expensive than carbon fiber strips but would require a whole door be removed and restructured. On this new quote was the door work was added. Why was this not on the first one if steel beams were going to be used? In the 2nd quote sent he again stated USS does not use carbon fiber strips. I have the email. I am not using this company because trust starts from the first point of contact with me and USS seems to have too much of a sales gimmick in order to push more expensive items on consumers not to mention additional work due to those expensive items. Also, stories kept changing each time. For a $20k job I am not looking to get ripped off on. I have selected another company.

What a refreshing experience with Robert and the company as a whole beginning with Shannon. Responded to our inquiry immediately by email and phone call. Arrived promptly at agreed upon time and spent a good deal of time explaining things to us. The bottom line was that he didn't feel at this time that any major work was needed. He did however provide us with the name of a mason to handle the problem we have. While they didn't do any work for us, they sure gained our trust and confidence by their honest and professional approach. We would definitely recommend this company and will if the need arises use them without question.

We had this company come to our home to check our foundation and structure! After about a year of researching our particular problem, receiving other estimates, and saving money;"I contacted the project manager! We had decided to go with this company! Our phone conversation did not end so well! It seems as if Our project manager was irritated that we had taken so long to make a decision and he would have to make a 3rd trip out to our home! I explained to him that we had also been trying to correct some underlying problems to decrease the estimate that he had given us! He became very argumentative with me! At this point I decided that he did not have our best interest in mind and told him this! I also told him that we would find another company who did have our best interest in mind! At this point, he told me that he thought that was a good idea, because he didn't think we would work well together! Could not believe this!

I called USS because I wanted a second review of my structural system under my 100 year old home. The director of operations came to my home promptly on time and spent time under the house and suggested that while there were things they could fix there was nothing that needed to be done at this time. Further, he went on to express a concern for implementing a major preventative action since disturbing the soil under the old home might cause damage to another part of the structural system.

They came in and did structural work to the house. They have their own in-house state certified engineer that will take a look over your house and see if you have any other problems that need to be looked at. I would absolutely use them again.

Bart came this morning to provide an estimate - he was right on time and very professional. I showed him the picture that the ductwork repairman had taken and explained where we thought it was (thought it was under the laundry room). After he checked things out, he explained that the broken board was under the half bath, not the laundry room (so wasn't shaking or becoming unstable whenever the washing machine vibrated the floor). He explained that while yes, this board was broken, it was just a 4ft boardand it had two good boards around it, one on each side. He explained that it was NOT a 12ft board that was truly supporting an entire room. He said the board was touching the water pipe, but was NOT putting any pressure on the pipe at all. He said if it was his house, he wouldn't do anything about it. But said that if it was causing me to lose sleep at night worrying about it, then he could have some guys come out & replace the board for about $500. We elected not to do anything about it with his reassurances that it would be fine. We truly appreciate his honesty and professionalism instead of just trying to make a sale. We will definitely use this company if we do need work in the future.

The foundation of the garage (converted) had shifted leading to cracks in morter and leakage and I thought might relate to an old shift in the house foundation. I also had a beam problem from a prevous shower pan problem, which needed new and more permanent support. I started with an independent structural engineer to get independent appraisal of the problems and advice. USS diagnosed the problem with a different and correct opinion. They were very professional and experienced. There was a possibility of a less expensive fix for part of the job, with a wait and see after a tuck and point of the brick. They supported and encouraged that decision rather than trying to push the more expensive job. They engineer their own materials which are quality. They were prompt and punctual. The work was performed as bid. The office staff were helpful and courteous. I would recommend this company without reservation.

We are very pleased with the result and would use again if need be.

We recently moved into a 9 year old house and noticed that the floor on the 2nd floor had a slight decline down the middle of the whole 2nd floor. Chad the structural engineer arrived on time and was professional. He listened to our concerns, checkouted the areas we were concerned about and answered all our questions. He was great in being about to explain what was happening in a way we could understand easily. We were relieved to know that we did not have to worry about this issue. The only downside to this experience is that we did have to call a couple of times to get a written report of his assessment otherwise overall it was a positive experience.

I was referred to this company by the structural engineer that evaluated my foundation issues for my insurance company. I had noticed a large crack down the side of my house that ran from top to bottom. USS promptly came out and evaluated the issues and determined that I needed 5 piers placed around the back corner to my house. I had imagined all kinds of $$ when I realized that I had foundation issues so when I was given the quote of $1000. per pier I happily wrote the check. That is my only regret - that I did not get any other quotes. However, I felt confident in having a personal referral to the company. I have become very leary of contractors having recently had a kitchen remodel done and some drywall repair so it was?important that I find a company that would stand behind their work. I have also had roofing issues with a 6 year old roof that had to be replaced due to poor installation and the original contractor has now gone out of business. So again- I was very anxious to have a company that would stand behind their work.??USS was easy to work with and were able to get the repairs scheduled within the window of my vacation since I did want to be present during the work. I would use the company again- although I really hope there is no need!

Rob Myers was punctual, knowledgeable, professional, pleasant, delightful, courteous, patient, educational, and honest. He spent about 45 minutes inspecting the problem areas and explaining to me what he observed and what needed to be done and what did not (yet) need to be done. He used illustrations documents to help me understand the processes involved. He did not seem to be trying to sell me services I don't need. He clearly enjoys his work and enjoys and respects his eimployer. He recommended that I do no work stabilizing the concrete porch at this time as it may now be stable, though it has shifted a bit in the past. He suggested that I keep an eye on the situation and that, if I find it shifting further, I call him back as this is the type work his company does and he would love to do the work for me. As for the steps, he felt that they need to be replaced, but he felt that work needs to be done by a mason rather than by his company. He, at my request, gave me a recommendation for a mason who would do quality work. This was a most beneficial experience for me, and I appreciate what Rob Myers and USS provided me.

Had them come out for an estimate and they did a very through job. We are still making up our minds and getting estimates.

We were very pleased with the work performed. Both, estimator and work crew were on time, very courteous and professional. We would use USS again, if necessary and highly recommend them. We rate them an A+.

They overestimated the job. They dug all the holes and then they said you don’t really need to do this, but we have to charge you 50% of the estimate because we dug the holes. I didn’t like their pricing. They were pricing approximately 1000 Dollars per peer that they put in to support the house and they were going to put in 8 peers. Then when they found out that there was solid rock under the house and they could only put in 2 peers, they didn’t take their price back to 2000 Dollars, they wanted 4000 Dollars.

The gentleman from USS, Robert Elm, said he could not help me but immediately put me in contact with a company that can. The independent businessman will be here on May 7. I told Mr. Elm that I would contact him again if my need was more serious

The price was middle bid of three that I received. I chose USS because of their BBB rating and professional salesman. The crew did a good job overall. My only concerns were that the wash stone in the drainage ditch under the crawl space was in places 2-3 inches below the footer level, the dirt they dug out from the ditch created a berm along the ditch, and the electrician ended up piggy backing off my jacuzzi circuit instead of installing a separate circuit as I was told would be done. I was assured that these issues would cause no problems and that they have a lifetime warranty for the repair. Overall, I would recommend this company to others, they are very professional, they clean up after the job, and are a good value for the cost.

Overall as sated above they are the BEST!
