Kelly Angel is a local Pikeville guy. I spent about $190000 for having the house built. It’s about 2200 square feet with a basement and a garage. He is a real nice guy. He grew up doing country stuff or building and stuff. He used a lot of local labor, but not necessarily skilled. So, it was both good and bad. If he is around and pays attention to your job, then it’s good. When he can’t, it is bad and that is what happens towards the end. He had delays since he was doing a winter job and all that. He also got onto other things. He was very unresponsive when we called. There were some particulars that we were concerned about and things weren’t quite finished right. He came by a couple of months ago and told me that he would get it done. He says he is going to do, but he actually takes the time to do it. So, that’s the negative side. On the other side, he had better prices and we watched him build it. We thought that he did a quality job with the basic structure. He did a lot of extras for us and didn’t charge for it. We are very happy to be here. We have got a nice house on a nice piece of property. I think he does bigger and better projects with more money too. He said that he found an opportunity and invested a lot in it. The workers did shoddy work when left on their own. They were well paid and experienced at times. He wasn’t right there with his main crew and foremen. It would have been better if he had followed up on some things, but he didn’t in our opinion. The workers blast paint on the black floors. He said that they would cover them before painting. They covered some, but not all. Then he told us how to fix it by putting a black marker on top of it. So, we had the black painted floors with spots. It wasn’t all that bad. They did very good work as well. The trim and everything is really nice looking. They painted the walls with different colors as per our specifications without charging extra. Moving of big boulders was done on Mother’s Day for nothing and that was a good part. The bad parts were shoddy workmanship at times and some of the finished work. I don’t think their responsiveness was good. Kelly used to say that he would be out, but never used to get there. That happened a lot with him, but he is very nice when he gets there. He is a good salesman, a good worker and a good construction guy. He is a home grown construction guy. His punctuality was great in the beginning of the job, but was terrible towards the end of the job. He was very professional about the job, the work being done on the job, keeping his people in line and all of that. They were all pretty nice too. However, his professionalism took the other way sometimes in terms of showing up when he said he was going to show up. If he can guarantee some sort of time frame, then I would use his services again.
