I couldn't be happier. I tried two other companies and couldn't get anyone to respond to my calls, including the fence company I had used previously. It was a small job, and I can understand that a company would not want to tie up their equipment and manpower. Mr. Holmes did not let that stop him and responded to my request. The job was finished this morning and was very reasonably priced, especially since he was able to use some materials left over from another job. I won't use anyone else from now on.

The work was fantastic; we couldn't be more pleased. Mr. Holmes was very nice and accommodating and made many helpful suggestions on the initial estimate and walk through which we agreed that they were changes for the better. The price was very fair, his crew doing the work were professional, and the quality of the end result was exactly what we hoped for. They cleaned up everything afterwards. Mr. Holmes was also very accommodating of scheduling our install date as we had a lot of family coming in for a special event, and he made an effort to make sure we were taken care of before the day arrived. That's the kind of customer service that's hard to find these days, and we were glad that the work and quality of the fence matched the customer service. Our dog approves of his new territory to run. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks again !

Earl was terrific! While he gave us an initial estimate back in June, he had to wait another 3 months before we were ready for him to order the materials. He let us know exactly delivery was and when his crew would arrive - both were on time and I didn't loose any time waiting around! The project was rather large and took a day and a half to complete. Earl and crew were completely professional and courteous. When the job was completed, the only sign they were there was a new fence! No lunch garbage, water bottles, or leftover materials strewn about like other contractors we've had recently. Holmes Fencing has been the easiest part of our pool contriction and I would hire again in a heartbeat!

Earl and his crew did an awesome job! Despite heavy rains throughout the week they were able to complete about 230 sq ft of fencing in about 2 1/2 days. I will definitely hire them again if I have any fencing or deck work that needs to be done.

Had a contact, never showed up to perform work. Good part was I agreed to only give half up front the first day they showed up so I did not loose any money. Never heard back from Holmes. I had put a deadline that contract expired by July 10th if work had not began.

Very nice guy, and had the courtesy when he was going to be late for the initial assessment to call and let me know. He did show up, and was about as late as he anticipated. Stated that he would get the estimate to me in a few days. Never did. I gave him more than enough time to be quite late - about three weeks - then finally called him and asked him what happened with the estimate. He had honesty enough to tell me that he was just really busy and hadn't gotten to it. I asked him if he could still get it to me, and he said yes, so I asked when he could have it to me. He stated that he would have it to me by the following Monday, about a week later. Then he stated, pretty nonchalantly, that 'if' I hadn't heard from him by then, I should just give him another call. That is when I knew that he wasn't really serious about that project, or about getting an estimate to me by the following Monday, as he was accepting no responsibility for keeping his word and was leaving it up to me to keep chasing him for an estimate. The estimate did not come on the following Monday, as it was clear in the phone conversation that it would not, nor did any contact from him, and I did not contact him back because at that point he wasn't someone with whom I wanted to work.. Based on the other reviews, he apparently does good work when he does the work, and he is friendly when you talk to him, but I would never recommend him. It would have been far better if he had just told me that he wasn't interested in doing the project if he didn't want to do it, or had kept his word if he was. Unfortunate. I feel I am being generous giving a C, as this was time out of my workday - and paycheck - to meet with him when there was no follow through on his part.

Services went well even though he was priced 200.00 above another company but had to have fence up right away because of dog in the yard and swimming pool

I wish that you had a higher grade to check on this rating. The work was above A + level. This was not an easy job, replacing over 200 feet of fencing. The original fence had been there for over 35 years. There was landscaping around the pool and a lawn to consider in doing as little damage as possible. I am so impressed with the care that Mr.Holmes and his men took in taking care of the surroundings in such a difficult setting. They constructed an 8 ft. wooden fence with two gates that now close perfectly. This construction is beautiful with such attention to detail to make the fence look great, as well as to make a very sturdy well- constructed fence. There is also a shed attached to the fence that houses the pool. .Mr. Holmes worked to reattach the shed to the fence and also did some extra work inside the shed. They also even covered the pool for us while they were working and then took the cover off when they finished. I can't say enough about how Mr. Holmes and his men went above and beyond expectations to do an excellent job . I would highly recommend them for work and most definitely would use them again if services were needed.

Fence looks great. The cost of the material and labor was very reasonable compared to other companies. Mr. Holmes was very nice and professional throughout the process. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

Earl was great to work with. He was very responsive when I called to inquire about receiving an estimate, and even made it out the same day to walk the lot as well as take measurements for the estimate. His estimate was fairly priced and they started work the next day. The quality of work was excellent, and we will certainly hire Earl again for any of our fencing needs!

Earl was extremely kind and understanding. Truly down to earth and walked us through what would be best for our yard and purposes. Very knowledgeable about taking into account the surroundings, slopes, etc. Gave a very reasonable quote. The workmanship is amazing and solid. Definitely would recommend him and his team. Earl and his team were wonderful. Not only was the price lower than the competitors, they were punctual and very friendly. Earl arrived 10 minutes after talking on the phone for an estimate, started the job three hours later and finished the job by noon the next day. The fence looks wonderful and my husband and I are VERY happy we hired Holmes Construction and Fence.

The entire experience was excellent. First off - the owner of the company called me very promptly, and came out for the estimate within 30 minutes. During the estimate, he took the time to go over the various types of wood and fence styles, and also gave me tips for how to keep the different types of wood in good shape. The work was performed in a single day. The crew was friendly and clearly worked very well together. They were respectful of my landscaping, listened to my needs, and performed the work exactly as directed. I highly endorse Holmes Construction & Fence for anyone in the Chattanooga area. I had an 8' Dog-Eared privacy fence installed to replace my shadowbox fence. The fence is now sturdy, level, and the wood is evenly spaced in perfect alignment.

From day one, all work, contact, and interaction with this company was extremely professional. They got in and got the job quickly, and were very helpful along the way with tips on care and the like. Definitely worth!

Mr. Earl Holmes was a true professional. He promptly came to give an estimate of the work, and the price was reasonable. He and his crew did the work within a couple of days of the estimate to our complete satisfaction. Mr. Holmes was competent and courteous and super nice! Everything went fine. There were a couple of things that had to be added on because of damage caused by my previous deck installation. Earl and his team fixed them with no problems.

Every thing went great on our installation. Earl was very prompt in coming out for an estimate. He measured the yard ( which was 1 acre in size), learned what we wanted, and gave an estimate within in a day. He provided a contract when giving the estimate. We had several other companies come out for estimates but Earl was the only one who provided a contract explaining what he would do. His estimate was not the lowest price, but we felt very confident. He actually started work a day earlier than expected and finished in a timely fashion. We are very happy with his work and recommend Holmes Construction highly!

The project went extremely smoothly and exceeded my expectations. Earl Holmes, the owner/contractor, had a crew of three who were all professional, diligent, and polite. They never came into my house for any reason (even though I assured them it was okay), and so I never had a muddy mess to clean up. Their workmanship was superior, taking extra care to build a very sturdy structure in order to hold the weight of a future screened-in or three-season porch. Not only were all building codes understood and met, the guys were also VERY conscientious of the asthetic details. That crew worked long and hard hours, and rarely took breaks other than lunch. Pride in their work was obvious. I have to admit that house projects can cause me a good bit of anxiety, and so I was greatly relieved and appreciative of Earl's considerate nature. When I approached him with last-minute design changes here and there, he was agreeable and patient, offered advice, and accommodated me every time. I HIGHLY recommend this company. We are more than satisfied with the work that Earl and his team did. They showed up early every day and worked until the early evening, despite the extremely high temperature. We have and odd-shaped yard, and Earl found a way to fence it in that is very appealing to look at, and the fence is sturdier than a rock! Thanks for doing such a great job.

I was told that it would be a few days before I would receive a quote and that's what happened. Once I accepted the quote, I was told it would be about two weeks before installation. Within two weeks, the fence was installed by Earl and his crew. The crew was exceptionally polite, professional and knowledgeable. Earl let me know what day they would start and what day the job would be finished. All expectations were met and I would hire again.

Earl and his team were great to work with. We had several quotes and chose him because of his professionalism. He has his own crew and equipment that did the job right! He was kind, knowledgable and fair!
