The fence is poor quality because of the manner it was completed. They touted how great it is to cut off the post tops at an angle to keep off, then cut them uneven and without measuring. There were nails sticking out all over the fence I had to cut off with a grinder myself. They left gaps in the bottom of the fence so large I could crawl under them (the fence was to keep my dog in). When I pointed this out to them they nailed a picket over the gaps on the inside (crooked) and left it (I wasn't home that day). They left trash and mounds of dirt where they dug the holes, empty cans, and scraps in mine and ajoining yards. They did not complete the trim areas at the ends of the fence nor did they place the poles in the ground for the gate bolts to secure the gates (was told they'd need to go get them and come back). I gave them the last check that morning expecting to see them in the afternoon. They cashed it the same day however, it took 14 phone calls and another week to get it done. I would NEVER use them again. Go with someone else and pay the little bit more for the quality. You won't get any from Yard Dog.

Moving to the area at the end of the month & need a backyard fence to keep my dogs in once I arrived. I called several fencing companies on Angie's List & wanted estimates. Mike returned a phone call early the next morning, I was told that they were the best priced & best quality fencing company in the area. He said he would get back with me either later in the evening or the next morning. I never heard from him so I called several more times & left messages. A few days later, I get a phone call from Brian, who was in the area & could look at the property. He said he worked up 3 different proposals, but since he worked mainly on commercial properties, he couldn't give me prices. He said their work is slowing down, so they are now about 2 wks out. He would give them to Mike, who would get back with me. Still no word from Mike. I've waited on him now for a week, and am finding I'm in a time crunch now. Luckily, I went with another company & they will install my fence next week!! Yea for Franklin Fence!!
Description of Work: Needed a fence at a new property that I just bought to keep my dogs in the back yard. On Mon ( 9-13)., I started trying to get estimates. Initially, Mike returned phone call & was suppose to call me back to make arrangements for an estimate. During the week I called his number several times, someone finally called Fri. to go look at the property. Brian measured the property yesterday morning, but couldn't give me a price. Mike will have to work that up. . I called this morn. Sat (9-19), went to voicemail. Left a message. Well, I'm still waiting on Mike....... As of Thur (9-23), still havent heard from Mike or anyone else from YardDog.

We were orriginaly quoted that the job would take 4 days. -Day 1 monday: Old fence panels were knocked down and posts cut off. The fence was not hauled away after it was taken down untill the next day, it was left laying on the ground in one neighbors yard, and several panels were left resting on the other neighbors fence. The old post were not completely removed, they were cut off, this would not be an issue if they were cut off as low as possible, instead several are 1 to 2 inches above the ground.-Day 2 tuesday: Hauled away all of the old fence and installed new wood posts. Our hose did not reach all of the new post holes and the crew did not bring buckets to add water to concrete at the new post holes, we ended up having to loan them a cooler for this.-Day 3 wednesday: Installation crew did not show up, or did not do any work. Called the owner and was given a number to call, left a message, but did not get a return call.-Day 4 thursday: Had to call the installer at 10:00 in the morning to find out if they were coming to work. When they finnally showed they did not bring an extension cord for their tools, we had to loan them one(instead of returning this when done decided to hold onto it, leaving our home with it, we had to remind them about it later to return it). Rails were installed on the posts. When the installer plugged in his air compressor for the nail gun he blew a breaker, we were not home when this happened, the neighbor let him run our extension cord to his house. The installer never told us about the breaker, we found out the next morning when we saw that our freezer in the garage had completely defrosted since there was no power, and leaked water all over the garage.-Day 5 friday: The crew showed up late and brought the same compressor, which ended up dying. They had to start nailing pickets by hand in the back of theyard. They also set the posts for the gates at the front of the yard. the installer told me he would be back in the morning at 6am to start early to get the fence done. -Day 6 saturday: The installer did not show up at 6am. I called the companies owner who had me get in touch with the supervisor,Andy. Andy told me that the installer to him he would be there at 10am. He never showed up, so I was able to use the time to mow the back yard. While mowing I discovered that the gate posts were extremely loose in the ground because they were not installed properly. We ended up leaving the house to run errands, my neighbor let me know that the installer showed up around 1pm. when we got home around 5 pm the installer was by himself installing pickets. He finished the back and sides of the fence. I was shocked when I went out to inspect the work he had done. None of the pickets were plum, everything was crooked. The installer also did not adjust the nail gun properly, he was burring the nails about a 1/4 inch into the boards, which left the sharp end coming through about a 1/4 inch. I also checked all the post and discovered that many of them were extremely loose. I immediately called Andy and told him not to send this installer back to the house and discussed the problems with him. He told me that he would come out on Monday with a new crew to address the issues and complete the work.-Day 8 monday: Andy showed up at 8am with 2 new installers. We talked about the problems and I was told that they would fix the post that were loose, they would also take down all the pickets the were installed out of plum and fix the nails. The new crew got the posts at the at the front of the yard reset, got all of the pickets in the back fixed, and got the side put up that was not started yet. They still needed to fix the plumness and nails on the other side.-Day 9 tuesday: The crew shoed up at 8 in the morning. I talked with them about what was left to do. The installer asked me what else I still had issues with, I thought he would have remembered to fix the other side of the fence and the concrete. I think he asked to see if I remembered or was going to have him do it. He told me that the concrete was good and he tamped all the posts down. Before I left for work he asked me for the remainder of the payment. I told him we will wait till the work is done. When I arrived home from work, 5pm, they were finishing up, and from a quick glance, looked like they were mostly done. the installer told me there was a couple things to finsh in the morning and that they would be back at 8am. Before leaving he again asked for the check for the remainder of the payment, I told him that I will pay when the work was complete. After he left I went out to inspect the progress. I saw that one of the posts holse that they had to remove and reset on monday was set at 10 inches. I was told that all 4x4 post were installed at 18 inches so this made me really concerned. I did a quick inspection of the whole fence and found that they still had not fixed the side of the fence for plumbness and all the nails coming through. They did not plan for the slope of the yard in regards to the best gate position for one of the 5 foot gates. The orriginal hardware would not workon the side it needed to be on, the put it on the wrong side and used a hammer to beat it to conform to the post. They installed the latches incorrectly which caused the gate to sit 4 inches from flush when secured. The bottom of the gate was not cut straight at all, they just started cutting spots that hit the ground, It looked horrible. My biggest concern was the posts though. I got a shovel out and dug around 2 post that were especially loose to investigate. I found the post depth on one to be roughly 15 inches. Not as deep as I would have liked but I could live with it. The amount of concret used was ridiculous though. There was barely any, and it was not spread evenly in the post hole. When I dug up the next post I had to stop because I was scared that the concrete would brake off, there was maybe a 1/4 of a bag worth of concrete in the hole. Sakrete (concrete products at most home supply stores) recommends using 3, 40 pound bags of concrete for a 10 inch diameter post hole at 18 inches deep. I immediatley called Andy again to talk about the problems, he told me he would be there with a new crew in the morning to look at the problems.-Day 10 Wednesday: Andy showed up at 8am with a new crew to inspect the work, we talked about the issues, I was told that everything would be resolved by 5pm, when I got home from work. When I got home I saw that there was 19 post holes that had been dug out and had concrete added to them. all the other problems were addressed as well. I inspected the entire fence with Andy at this point, as far as functionality and asthetics, the fence was ok. There were some minor cosmetic issues but I just wanted this company leave my home. I did have several reservations about the fence posts though. Andy told me that all the work would be warrantied and noted all the problems I had. -Overall, I believe Andy is doing the best he can, he(the company) seems to have horrible installers that perform the work. The company needs to find a way to check on the work its employees do.-I will never use this company again, and will not reccomend that anyone does. I wont use them for warranty repairs either, I will find someone to do it right the first time.

Mike Casper was quick to respond to my initial email. We spoke shortly thereafter and made an appointment for him to come out and give us an estimate. He was on time (unheard of in the South!), polite and professional. Within a few days, I got back to him and we set up a day and time for his crew to come out and install the fence. We went with the black pvc coated chain link and I must say it is beautiful. His crew was a little late arriving, due to unforeseen circumstances, but i must say they were polite, careful of my plants and, dare I say it again, professional. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Thank you, Mike and Yard Dog Fence, my little pups are VERY happy with their yard!

The crew, Andy and Tom, performed the job. They were on schedule and prompt. I enjoyed their demeanor and it was difficult to quit the banter and let them go to work. We walked the yard and I explained what I wanted. I then left for the day hiking with the dogs. They told me they expected to finish by 4 pm and I called and told them that no way I could get home that quick and they should go. Later that early evening Andy called to ask what I thought. I was/am very pleased with their work. The dogs are stupefied; I think they are beginning to realize they aren't having to wear their invisible fence shock collars. The fence looks great; I got the black chain link 48". The yard in which Andy and Tom worked looks untouched. I am sure it was very difficult as I have a lot of rock but its up and looks like all posts are properly in place and secured with concrete. Good job and no pain on my part!
Description of Work: My back yard needed a fence for 2 dogs. Michael was quick to respond with a resonable estimate. I had 3 fence estimates. Yard dog impressed me. My yard length was about 85' x 65' width, apx. 2 gates included.

I chose Yard Dog Fencing after getting several estimates (all from Angie's List) . The owner, Michael Casper, is very knowledgeable and honest. I received a very fair estimate and he stood out from the other companies. He did exactly what he offered, at the price he offered, and was very prompt. Michael did some extra work that I had not thought of but he didn't charge any extra. His material is excellent (red pine) and I'm very glad that I used Yard Dog Fencing.

When you meet them they want to sit down and talk to you. They do want to give you whatever it is that you want. They do provide the information to help you make an informed decision. They were very friendly. At the same time, they said 'you shouldn't use this person, we have had to fix their jobs so you don't want to use them.' I would suggest not using them simply because they talk bad about other companies.
