We contracted with TriStar Building Services for an almost total home renovation on our ranch style house in East Nashville. After getting quotes from other companies, we went with TriStar because they had good reviews but also because their quote was very competitive. The project including removing loadbearing walls, repairing and sanding floors, removing paneling and installing drywall, building a walk-in shower, building a new office/study/guest room, renovating the entire kitchen and creating a large walk-in closet. Throughout the project, TriStar staff Chris and Cody were very professional, kept us up to date on the project regularly through emails, texts and photos and responded quickly to questions or concerns. All the subs they used on the project were highly skilled (We can’t speak enough about the hardwood floor work. The wood floor was repaired so well you can’t tell walls had been removed) polite and worked efficiently. It is without a doubt very disruptive to go through a large home renovation project but Chris and Cody worked with us, making adjustments to the plan and ensured the work was done in a quality and efficient manner. This has definitely increased the value of the house and created a more enjoyable living experience. We highly recommend TriStar for their quality work and customer service. They deserve two thumbs up!

Chris C. was 4 1/2 hours later than when he said he would arrive to our first meeting--to discuss the job and obtain an estimate. This should have been my first red flag. It took approximately 2 weeks to hear back with an estimate. The price quoted for the job was reasonable (probably too low though based on the cost of the job done by another contractor). Communication was a huge struggle. Apparently he only texts, because he did not return any phone messages or, initially, respond quickly to emails. Should have been my second (huge) red flag. I understood that he is busy which is why I messaged him asking for best times to reach him. None given. I pressed on trying to work with Chris C./Tristar because I was growing desperate to have the issues fixed/resolved to prevent further water damage from leaking. In frustration sent an email inquiring if he still wanted to do the job after hearing nothing back from him for over a week. The next day he responded by email stating that he was "definitely interested in helping me" and agreed that he would call me at 8:15 the day after that. Of course, that time came and went. Much later that day received an email: "I'm still going to call you I'm dealing with a little emergency we had this morning...." Despite his assurance that he would "reach out" as soon as he was done, I never heard anything or received any other communication from him or Tristar. A mystery. However, I wised up and contacted another contractor to do the job (who I paid three times the Tristar quote for the work). All told, the time from first contact to last was--with no work ever being started--was little over a month! My impression of Tristar Building as a result of this experience with Chris C. is that they are unreliable, very unprofessional, practice poor customer service, and are to be avoided at any cost!

Bad materials and wrong materials, had I not been on the job-site and notice they were using the less expensive underlayment (I paid for the premium underlayment) it probably would have gone unnoticed because it's covered up by the shingles. Lots of stuff like that! Project dragged out over 3 months, difficult to get them to come back to finish, was called insulting names by owner. Copper flashing around chimney was bad when they did it the first time, they re-did it and it was no better and actually damaged the chimney masonry. Everything they touched wound up screwed up. Skylights began leaking after roof replacement and wound up having to replace skylights. Too many horror stories to mention here. One worker brought their small children to the jobsite and they were running around (in my yard) near where they could be hit by roofing shingles. The owner asked me to pay and quot;earlyand quot; because otherwise he was not going to be able to make payroll that week. This company is poorly run. The people come off as caring and nice, until things start to go wrong then you see how they REALLY conduct business. I held off writing a review for 1 full year because it took me that long to be able to write a sentence about them that didn't have curse words in it.

TriStar had done some insurance work (repairing a kitchen floor after a water leak) and replaced my roof. When I wanted to remodel my kitchen, they were my first call. I was very happy with the remodel.Throughout the remodel, any time I had questions, Jay was just a call away. The work was done on time and, in fact, they even completed the project about a week earlier than originally estimated. Throughout the job, they made every attempt to limit the intrusion on the rest of the house and actually cleaned the house a couple of times. This was a complete remodel, down to the studs in most places, removing a wall, and putting in a French door and window. The highest praise I can give is toward the end of the project, I recommended them to a coworker who hired them for remodeling on a home he had purchased. He was so pleased that he recommended TriStar to a friend of his.

They were excellent and extremely responsive. They were personally recommended by someone I worked with. I found them to be excellent. They were very punctual which helped me a lot because I was dealing with that and juggling work. They kept me informed of what was going on. It turned into a little bigger job than they had thought because there was more water in the carpet than they realized at first. They didn't change the pricing but they kept me informed of how it would change when I needed to be at the house. I was quite happy with the result.
Description of Work: I had a leak so TriStar Building Services came in and did the water removal and carpet cleaning. They also did mold remediation. He was checking for moisture levels to the walls for me.

I called a number of different roofers, and contractors. Some either never called back, never showed up, were not very responsive. The ones that did show up could either do only a portion of the job (i.e. they were only roofers, and couldn't do drywall) or would charge a lot for it. I was then referred to TriStar. I looked around online for some reviews, but didn't find much - but because they were a trusted referral, I thought I'd give them a shot. TriStar showed up promptly, were always quick to respond - over email, and phone. The estimate they provided was very detailed - so much so, that when I wanted to remove and amend certain items, they were happy to revise their estimate. The work they performed was equally prompt, and professional. Particularly since there was a lot of patching that needed to happen with they drywall, that was repaired perfectly. No visible seams at all. The thing that stood out about TriStar was that they were always professional, and very helpful with everything. When you're dealing with the stress of a leak, or other home repair, it's important to know you're in good hands, and with TriStar I definitely felt that way. Because I didn't see any other reviews on them on Angie's List, I thought it would be important to provide one so others in my position can know about them.
Description of Work: I had a leak appear in my ceiling after some heavy rain. The wood beneath the shingles had completely rotted away, and water was dripping straight down from the roof onto the drywall. The drywall itself was so soft that it folded to the touch. On top of all that, some mold had formed on the drywall. I needed the shingles replaced, the gutters replaced, the wood beneath the shingles replaced, the drywall patched, and new insulation.

They are an excellent company and do great work. I had leaks as well that other companies couldn't repair and they were able to repair them. The people that work for this company are good people. I'd highly recommend them.

I ended up firing them because I was pretty dissatisfied with the service. They were supposed to be representing me as a general contractor and working as a conduit with the insurance company to get things done and to me it seemed like they were working for the insurance company. They were supposed to bring in the other subcontractors to get the actual work done. They kept telling us we couldn't do things under insurance and we had big delays so we released them from their service. I will not hire them again in the future.
Description of Work: Storico Industries was supposed to be the general contractor for repairs to our home after a lightning strike. Among things we needed were: repair a wall, check our electrical systems and replace the roof.

I found Storico to be very helpful in responding to and repairing the water damage in my basement and garage. The owner was willing to spend a great deal of time explaining the process of drying out my water soaked basement and checked back frequently to make sure things were progressing properly. I found the staff to be very helpful and attentive and would recommend this company to anyone that has experienced flooding or other water damage events.
