I had a fabulous experience with Temp Control. I got two estimates and the other one was less. However, the other company's salesperson just read to me how much a new unit would be based upon the old unit. Temp control reviewed my system and made some suggestions about revamping it to be more efficient. Temp control further detailed the many available options and provided the pros and cons of each. They educated me about how I could rank each option as it pertained to my situation. I am a small business owner and I completely loved the way that they worked with me. They treated me like I always strive to treat my customers.

They helped us out when pretty much no one was helping us. They were willing to pull permits for us for the situation we were in. I wasn't even at the house and did everything out of state and they did the work. They also did some extra things that they didn't really have to.

When our furnace stopped working on 1 March, Temp Control was on it in a flash. Within 1 hour of my phone call they had someone at the house. Within the day they replaced our 20 year old gas furnace with a high quality replacement. It was snowing the day the furnace was replaced and I have three small children. I will call Temp Control for all of my HVAC needs from here on out.

I had a wonderful experience from the beginning to the end. From Renee in the office, Tim who came out to look at my existing system, space, provide me with options to Eloy and those who installed my unit, it was a class act. They were very professional, thoughtful and responded when they said they would. I received an estimate from another company that was much higher for less work and the salesman did not point out the reasons for my past problems. Tim identified them right away. The reason why I had so many problems with my prior unit was because my unit was trying to push more air through too small of duct work. The work was done over 2 days and I am very pleased. The only "negative" I can say, if you can call it that, relates to the unit itself. The Ruud unit is extremely powerful, seems loud at first and takes some getting used to. I'm used to it now and am very pleased.
Description of Work: My home was built in 1921. It was completely redone in 2004, taken down to the studs, all electrical, plumbing, etc replaced. 2 Goodman systems were installed - 1 heat-pump in the attic for the upstairs and 1 in the crawl space for the main floor. My upstairs unit NEVER kept up in the summer and ALWAYS had difficulty in some form or fashion. It also NEVER kept one room (master bedroom) cool in the summer or warm in the winter. Every summer for 9 years (and sometimes in the winter), I have had repairman out (generally on the hottest day of the year) to replace capacitors, motors, etc. After last summer where the repair call included adding quite a bit of freon, I decided to bite the bullet. Temp Control: 1. Installed a new Ruud heat-pump Unit. 2. Properly mounted the unit in the attic (prior unit had not been) along with an adequate pan. 3. Replaced input and output branches and a few other branches of duct work that were inappropriate size for the capacity of my prior and new unit. 4. Enlarged return air duct in hall. 5. Installed proper electrical box on unit (did not exist on prior unit). 6. Installed AC unit outside on new pad 7. Re-insulated piping.

Three problems arose with this project. 1) the entry point in the foundation where the supply line was brought into the basement below grade level leaked after the first rain and has required resealing. This was repaired promptly by the general contractor. 2) Temp control broke the fireplace marble facings and hearth in several places which resulted in the extra expense of replacing the marble. Although I was told by the general contractor when estimating the project that the marble may break if it had to be removed which would require my approval of a change order, Temp control proceeded to remove and break the marble before the general contractor contacted me and otained my permission to proceed with the installation via a change order. 3) After the remodeling project was completed, we installed gas logs in the fireplace,. After the first few uneventful uses, the brass control valve in the floor next to the fireplace became very tight and did not open to allow full gas flow. Then it would not close/seat completely, and allowed enough gas to leak through to the logs that we could smell it in the living room. We closed the primary cut off valve on the supply line to the fireplace and called the general contractor, who arranged for Temp Control to return and check the system for leaks, etc. Temp Control (Eloy Saban-owner) returned on the second day after we called. He did NOT arrive as scheduled at 8:00am but inconveniently at ~7:15 am, and called from outside wanting to gain entry before we were ready. He and an assistant checked the gas line and the area around the brass valve for external leaks and found none. They turned on the floor valve but did not attempt to light the logs. At this point, Mr. Saban denied any responsibility for any problem stating that the gas log installer would have to return and solve any leak problem since his ( Temp Control) responsibility "stopped at the point where he had capped off the supply line in the fireplace", and he found NO problem with the brass floor control valve. He stated that the log installation was at fault since an additional control valve or ignitor kit had not been installed inside the fireplace, and all brass floor valves leak and therefore should never be used to control the gas logs. When asked about the change in operation of the brass floor valve becoming very tight he stated that is normal. When asked about the failure of the valve to open or close the gas flow completely he said that is normal, and that is why an additional valve is required inside the fireplace. He wrote up his findings and recommendations on a workorder form, and we signed it and were given a copy at no charge. His comments referred to the need to have the log installer return and address a faulty log ingnitor or control valve, inside the fireplace, which of course, was not even present. I asked the general contractor to have Temp control simply replace or repair the brass floor control valve and I provided a copy of the gas log installation instructions which clearly state the acceptability of using the brass floor valve as the only control for the logs. I also verified with the gas log retailer manager the acceptability of using the brass floor valve as the only control, and that brass floor valves are NOT expected to leak (until perhaps after 20+ years of service), and that an additional control valve inside the fireplace is NOT required. Temp control agreed to replace the valve ONE time as a favor to the general contractor, but stated that doing so would solve nothing, and that I just needed to spend the extra money to install an additional valve inside the fireplace. I was surprised that Temp Control would not consider the possibility that for example some debris (e.g. pipe thread sealant, etc.) might be interferring with the valve operation, or that the valve installaiton or the valve itself might be faulty, and that they had already decided that replacing the valve would NOT solve the problem. I felt that Mr. Saban's statement that all valves leak was simply not credible and only self-serving (and this was confirmed by the gas log retailer) . Therefore I refused to allow TEMP Control to do anymore work for me. Instead I asked the general contractor to find another subcontractor to replace the valve, or to simply refund to me the cost of the valve and installation. The general contractor has defended Mr. Saban/Temp Control, but has refunded $150 to me for the cost of the valve and installation. I have had another contractor replace the control valve in the floor, and the installation works fine.
Description of Work: Installed new gas supply piping into condominium from gas company meter connection point outside. This work was done in conjunction with larger remodeling project and Temp Control was a subcontractor chosen by the general remodeling contractor. Condo had no gas service previously, and pipe was installed from below ground level outside through foundation to 4 applicance points with cut off valves and capped off at each point to await future appliance installation. Pipe supply was installed to: gas range in kitchen, furnace utility closet, water heater utility room in basement, and into existing woodburning fireplace. The condo association prohibited any penetration or damage to the dryvit/stucco exterior surafaces, so the line had to be run in below ground level from the meter location. The fireplace installation proved to be the biggest problem for the same reason, and the easiest installation would be simply running the line outside the rear of the fireplace and penetrating the exterior wall directly into the fireplace, however this was not allowed. Therefore the gas line had to run through the basement, up through the floor where a brass cut off valve was installed and then through the wall and into the interior sidewall of the fireplace where it was capped off. This required dismantling the fireplace marble hearth and facings for access and cutting an access hole in the adjacent living room drywall to allow for visual codes inspection of the inside pipe installation. Then the drywall had to be repaired and repainted. After the system was pressure tested by the subcontractor and approved by metro codes, the gas company installed the meter and turned on the service.

Response from Temp Control LLC
Dear Member Thanks for your response. First, the job amount was $1,733.00 billed to the general contractor NOT $3,800. Second, the mantel was taken down by the general contractor (GC), not by us. We do not do any building demolition. Third, we believe your frustration with the general contractor made you seek us in Angies list and destroy anyone who was related in this project for no reason but revenge towards your GC. We did not work for you directly, nor have we ever met or talked over the phone. Prior to leaving feedback about a subcontractor used in a project, you should do research and have your facts straight. As you mention, our installation was approved and inspected by Metro Codes and Piedmont Gas Company. This feedback is blown out of proportion due to the frustrations you experienced with your general contractor during your condo's kitchen remodeling project.

Overall very happy with the new system and the process of getting it installed and maintained. I plan on using Temp Control in the future for my HVAC needs.
Description of Work: My AC system has been on the fritz for years now, and has been patch repaired each year. I called in Temp Control because I was tired of giving my money to the same people year after year and having the same problems over and over again. Temp Control was very up front about the problems that I was having, which were numerous, and I decided to replace the system with a new one. I was given many different options and they explained the advantages and disadvantages of each one, which helped me make the right choice for my home. TC showed up when they said they would and the system replacement took around 5 hours. All of the old equipment was taken away, and everything was left clean. The installers were very professional and took time to explain what they were doing when I asked.

Tim arrived exactly on time to look at my old central unit and my home. He took his time and did a complete load calculation by hand to ensure the new unit was sized properly. It turned out I did not need the size currently installed on my home and we were able to look at 1/2 ton smaller units. We discussed options from different brands and other options to help with heating and cooling costs. When I received a lower quote from a competitor for the same unit and the same work, I called Tim. As he had given so much time in preparing his first quote I gave them the opportunity to meet the competitors price. They did without hesitation. On the day of the install the installers arrived when they stated they would. In two hours the old unit was gone, the new unit was in, and the new air return was in place. Everything has worked perfectly and the new unit is keeping my house more comfortable that the original ever did. I am very happy with their service and will definitely utilize them again for maintenance and any other work I may need with heating and cooling my home.
Description of Work: I needed a new central heat and air unit to replace the failing one on my home. They quoted the work of removing the old unit, installing the new unit, and adding an additional air return for my lower level.

Having used TempControl before to repair our ailing AC unit, we already knew that when the time finally came to replace our HVAC that there was only one company we would call. Eloy and his staff were once again up to the challenge. The unit when out on a Tuesday and that same afternoon we had an estimate in our hand. Less than 48-hours later TempControl had the new system installed and purring like a kitten. They checked our duct work to ensure no leaks, balanced the flow in the house, and reconfigured the air so our bedroom now gets as toasty as the rest of the house! It's quiet, MUCH more energy efficient, but the big kicker is knowing it was installed right by folks we can trust. That peace of mind is priceless! We are a family on a budget and sticklers for customer service and support. We've NEVER felt overcharged and ALWAYS felt like the staff we work with care about our needs. TempControl has been our company for over three years now and we expect to continue that relationship for years to come. We've recommended them to my parents, our friends, and we're doing the same here on Angie's List.

I had done business with this company previously and was very satisfied. They did the work the day after I called. The price was $1750 lower than a competitor's bid. The competitor's unit had a 10 year parts & labor warranty, but it was a brand I hadn't heard of. Eloy, the company owner said that the Ruud is a higher quality system and he knows his stuff and seems to be a man of integrity. Overall a good experience and I think I got a good deal.

The staff was courteous and professional and had the unit installed within a short period of time. They returned the next day to fix some wiring that had been disturbed during the initial installation. The manager also recommended that we add extra insulation that would maximize the efficency of the heat pump. The unit has produced adequate heat for our house. I would recommend Temp Control LLC to my friends and family to handle their HVAC needs...................April

Top-notch business! They made a service call on Tuesday and determined the unit was beyond repair. Tim came the next day to do free estimates (he gave me 3 different choices of quality/price), and the work was completed on Friday. From beginning with receptionist Rene by phone, to Tim the Project Manager, to Justin and Andrew the technicians--I couldn't have asked for an easier, quicker, friendlier, more afforable, more professional, more courteous experience. They went above and beyond, even touching up paint where they installed new vents and thermostat. Look no further than Temp Contol!

FANTASTIC! THANK YOU TIM! My HVAC system went out - it was about 18 years old. I secured 3 estimates for replacement. 2 of the 3 companies came into my house to inspect insulation, square footage, register flow, etc. Temp Control was one of those 2 companies. Temp Control was the only company that followed up with me and seemed interested in doing business. Plus I liked the idea of the brand Trane, versus an off brand I had never heard of. "Tim" was great to work with and showed interest in providing me a quality and energy efficient unit. And it is quiet! If my bank had not been so slow on getting the funds processed, I would have had a new HVAC the next day! I will use Temp Control to service my unit!

Overall the experience was positive. During the discussion of what was needed and where to put it I had concern about the laundry area not having a supply vent. In the opinion of the estimator/salesman it would not be required, or that 'it would be okay'. Well I wish I'd have stood my ground. So if I want it done, it'll be an additional visit, job, cost. But that is my only misgiving. Beyond that and some unanswered email after the job, which was urgently addressed once I sent a message through Angie's list site, the Owner and team seems genuinely interested in doing good work for a fair price.

I called them and the told me they would have a technician out the next day. The technician arrived ahead of time. He was very prompt and very good. His name was Nathan. He fixed the upstairs air conditioner which was the principal problem and then he noticed the downstairs heat pump air conditioning unit was starting to freeze up. He put a start capacitor in the main air conditioner and Freon in the downstairs air-conditioner and was done in an hour and a half. There were no problems, good service and very cooperative. He did a good job.

My A/C finally gave out during Nashville's unprecedented and lengthy heat wave. Initially I thought the strain of the heat was causing my A/C not to cool as efficiently, but by day three it was obvious something more serious was wrong. While the fan would come on, the outside unit had ceased operating! So I researched HVAC companies on Angie?s List. My criteria: excellent reviews and reasonable proximity. I was convinced to call Temp Control. It was 8:41 a.m. on a Monday. I was pleasantly surprised when the lady I spoke with asked me if a noon to 2 p.m. arrival slot was good. I was even more pleasantly surprised when the owner of the company, Eloy Saban, showed on my doorstep at 11:58 a.m. It wasn?t long before he diagnosed the problem as a failed starter. Replacement was quick and easy; he already had the kit aboard his van. I asked about the expected lifespan of my unit (a Goodman CK42-1A), and he told me 10 to 12 years. I told him we?d had it installed 11 years ago. Mr. Saban did recommend I call the office to get a quote on routine maintenance of my A/C (I?d never had it serviced.). It was obvious (he pointed out to me) that the outdoor coil needed washing. Unfortunately, the previous homeowner had walled in the indoor furnace, leaving only a narrow opening. Mr. Saban considered it inaccessible, so routine maintenance couldn?t be performed on it. I added expanding the opening to my mental list of projects. Mr. Saban mentioned that he and his crew had worked all weekend; he was very tired, yet he remained courteous and efficient. As soon as we turned the A/C back on, after he replaced the starter, it ran cool air. We had a fix!
Description of Work: The contactor and capacitor were replaced on the outdoor unit. These were included in a replacement kit.

Reliable, honest, and fair prices--used again 2 wks ago to replace an ac fan motor. Came out after 5 pm same day and had it running in 1 hr and charged me labor of only a service call ($65)
Description of Work: Came out exactly on time. After adding on 650 sq ft to house, ac would not cool adequately. Two other companies said only cure was to replace the entire heat/ac unit. Temp Control identified problem as return air duct too small for ac unit. If it could not draw in enough air, it could not pump out enough air. Replaced return air duct with a larger one, and installed a bigger return air opening and grill for $830 vs $5000 plus. House will stay 72 even if around 104. Would only hold at 75 when it hit 109 recently--not bad.

For the last couple of years my wife and I were always cold in the winter and hot in the summer. We compensated for this by having box fans around the house in the hot months and tower heaters during the cold months. I put up with this because I knew that replacing the system was going to be quite expensive. My breaking point came Memorial Day weekend when my wife and I were in the kitchen talking and beads of sweat were rolling down both of our faces. I decided that it was time we bit the bullet to see exactly what was wrong with the system and to see if it had to be replaced. In the past my father had been repairing the system but his repairs would only last for about 6 months or so and then the system would start doing the same thing. He told me that we would probably have to replace the unit. I started searching google for reviews of HVAC companies (I had not opened my Angie's List account yet). I found one that had pretty good ratings over all and called them out. The guy came out and was very nice but he only looked at the unit outside and did not bother to look at the heat pump in the attic. I found this odd since we do have a split unit why would he not view both. He told me that the compressor was out in the unit and that it needed to be replaced. I decided to get another opinion since he was not thorough enough for me. So I ended up opening an Angie's List account and I started searching. Temp Control LLC came up in my search and they had awesome reviews. I called them up and spoke to Renee. She was very professional and set an appointment with me for Nathan to come out to look at the unit. Nathan came out at the scheduled time. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He took his time, unlike the previous guy, and checked out both the unit in the attic and outside. He explained the problem and offered suggestions. Of course it was as I thought and the entire unit, which was 20 years old, needed to be replaced. I was able to set up an appointment for the install and they quoted me prices on the unit as well as sealing up my duct work. The installers showed up promptly on the install date they were professional and quickly got to work. It took them a full days work but when they finished the unit looked awesome and the air conditioning was working like a champ. Even the owner, Eloy, came out while they were installing just to check up on the work. My wife and I entered into a program with TVA prior to getting the work done. The program reimbursed us up to $750 if the work was done properly and made our home energy efficient. When I mentioned this to Renee she knew exactly what I was talking about and they provided me with their part of all of the paper work. With the TVA program you have to have a follow up inspection with TVA and pass that in order to receive the money. Eloy, the owner, made sure he was there when TVA came back out so that he could do the walk through with them. TVA found the work of Temp Control LLC to be great and we qualified for the full $750. I am a sucker for customer service. From Renee to Eloy to the installers my experience with Temp Control was great! I would definitely recommend them to anyone and will continue to use them for all of my HVAC needs.
