All was well until I paid for the work and as I started to leave, I noticed a sign saying something about some Windows computer system being no longer usable. I said, "I assume I don't have that one." The employee at the desk (very nice) said let me check. She checked my computer and said you do have it. I asked why they would do a checkup on it and charge me instead of telling me first that my computer would be immediately obsolete and unsafe. She became a bit flustered (still nice) and said she did not know. The upshot was that she was going to check with everyone and they would call me. In the end, I was offered a discount on a new computer if I bought it from them. I couldn't have a discount if I wanted an Apple, which I had decided I wanted if I ever had to get a new computer. I tried to talk to the owner, Alan Reeves, but kept having to talk to employees (all very nice) that had no authority to find an adequate solution for the loss of my $99. To add insult to injury, they said I had read an email they had sent me (they send out lots of mass emailings about this and that that sometimes I opened, sometimes not. I remembered glancing at an email (hardly taking a close read) that there was a computer system that was going obsolete but I didn't think it was mine. Either way, apparently, they track you in a way that seemed odd to me - and they jumped to the conclusion that if an email were opened that it was read and digested. And, they didn't seem to understand that a customer like me is not computer savvy the way they are. Anyway, it was odd to shift this burden to the customer's shoulder. I told them they were the experts I counted on to know these things if I brought my computer in. I had always been a big fan of the place, thinking they were my guide in the new technology world, and I loved sending people there. Maybe it was the cute name! Eventually, I did get to talk to the owner Alan Reeves. He was not so pleasant as his employees but that didn't matter. He talked about how hard his business was and said it depended on people getting service contracts with the company - which I didn't have! He admitted that his technician failed by not getting in touch with me and telling me the system was going obsolete right away. But his solution was to offer me coupons and he said I was at fault, too, because there were newspaper articles and radio stories that the system would go obsolete. ?? I was clueless about that! Again, this is for the experts to follow! After a long conversation going nowhere, I offered to split the different. I said he could pay back half and I would call it even. That was much more than fair to him, I thought. He seemed to like the idea but said he wanted to sleep on it. He said he would call me the next day. He never called. I waited and waited. Days, weeks. I sent a letter saying he had agreed to this and asked if we could move forward. I never heard back. Ever. itI am a senior citizen out $99. At any age, it is not good.
Description of Work: I left my computer that was kind of slow for a checkup and it was done. They said it was all fine at pickup but as I paid I was told that the computer was going obsolete and would be unsafe to use in one week! I was told I would have to buy a new one.

Horrible...I took my laptop in to have a keyboard replaced because a few of the keys no longer worked. It took them a few days and they called to leave me a message several days later that everything was working good and it was ready to be picked up. I picked it up the next day and when I got it home and plugged it in it wouldn't stay on more than 2 to 3 minutes and just cut off and went blank. I tried it several times and by the time it reloaded because it had to start from the beginning since it cut off..by that time it just cut off again. I called them and told them that my computer was working fine until I took it in to have the keyboard replaced. In fact I had been using it all morning before I turned it off, unplugged it and took it in to their place of business. The girl at the front desk called me on my way to the Dr and told me it would cost me another $49.00 plus tax to figure out why it wasn't working. I said no, I want to talk to the owner. My computer was working all day every day until I took it in to their place of business. The owner, Alan Reeves returned my call several days later and agreed they would check it to see why it no longer works. A week later, Andrew who is one of the techs called me and said another tech blew out my computer twice and now the fan is out. He said they would have to charge me $69.00 for the fan and another $129.00 for the labor. I told him no, I told him I am not paying for something they tore up. They should have fixed it without charging me since they tore it up. After a couple of weeks I went by to pick it up although it cannot be used all of my personal information is in the hard drive. The man at the receptionist desk, Alan Reeves (the owner) asked me if he could help me and I told him that I needed to pick up my computer. First he said he couldn't find the ticket and I told him probably because there is no ticket since I refuse to pay for repairs on something they tore up. I had already paid for the keyboard replacement when I picked it up after the keyboard replacement. I told him I wasn't paying for something they tore up. He said, well that's not exactly what happened. He was so rude and his face and neck turned red. I told that is exactly what happened. I brought the computer in for a keyboard replacement and it worked until I brought it in and now it doesn't work at all. He said well it's like when you go to the doctor for a cough and he prescribes you a cough medicine and then the next day you stump your toe. He said, you cannot blame the Dr for stumping your toe. I said, Are you serious? That is not like what happened at all. You had my computer the entire time and it worked when I brought it in. He said, Oh fans go out all the time! I told him he had lost a good customer (me) and if he kept treating people this way he will lose more. He said that was fine with him. You should never be that rude to your customers. I worked in customer service for 22 years for Bellsouth (ATand T) and you just do not treat your customers that way.
Description of Work: I took my laptop in to have the keyboard replaced. My keyboard was replaced but in the process they broke my fan.

I have used them several times and I think they do a good job. I have had no problems with them. I don't know how they compare to pricing with other places. I feel like they are trustworthy, especially since they will have access to your private information on your computer.

Individual not prepared despite my having specified what I needed when I first contacted Mouse Calls. He was a nice, polite man - (except for not following up the way he said he would.
Description of Work: I requested help in hooking Netflix up to my Blue Ray DVD player. This required an adapter. Individual had brought no adapters with him so couldn't do anything. He fooled around with my computer - said he got me signed into adobe photoshop - but I was already signed in. He said he would call me the next day (after I bought an adapter) to coach me by phone how to hook things up. I called and left him a message the next day. He never returned my call. Ended up using a guy from Best Buy Geek Squad.

Description of Work: I took my laptop in for a diagnosis of varying problems. I have used Mousecalls for several years and for the most part, I've been pleased. I've had one or two little not so great experiences but overall they seem to know more what they are doing than the rest. Lately, they seem to be not a geared toward the individual user. However, I am not the most tech savvy person in the world. One problem the tech misdiagnosed last year but overall I've had good experiences. I find them to be very budget friendly and explain costs, etc upfront!

the tech arrived, knew what to do, fixed problems, offered good advice, and showed us the new systems. he did an excellent job.
Description of Work: needed a new desk top computer installed, a wireless printer, and install printing capacity on the lap top. in addition i had information from the old computer installed on the new, and the hard drive pulled. before he left he made sure the system was operating, including the printing. he installed a new spy and virus system on both computers, and placed the router in a better position to assure operation. he was terrific, worked quickly, solved problems, and we were very pleased with the work. he placed an icon on our computer so if there are future problems they can help solve them by phone. good work, good price.

My computer crashed, losing all of my data, including my precious vacation photos. I tried several places, and found Mousecalls to be responsive, helpful, and much less expensive than the rest, so I trusted them with my hard drive. They attempted retrieval at two levels and at the third level were able to recover all the data. Only then did they charge me a fee. They sent me all the date on 5 CDs (I could have had an outside hard drive for an additional fee), and I was able to upload the data on to my new hard drive.
Description of Work: They recovered data from my hard drive which had crashed.

I have no complaints about working with Mouse Calls. They were quick, efficient, friendly, and helpful. It seemed a bit expensive, but I didn't check prices with anyone else, so I'm not sure. They did get the job done, though.
