+ 2 moreNever responded......I have found that with contractors, they will come out and look at the job request and re-assure you that they can do the service, and will get back with you on an estimate..... and you never hear another word from them, OR, they give you some outlandish timeframe ( ie-4 months from now)....I definetely got in the wrong profession..... I have been trying for 6 months to get my basement updated with a bathroom.........STILL LOOKING!!!!

+ 3 moreI have called Mike Sawyer on three separate occasions. In February, 2009, he replaced a oven/microwave unit. In September, 2009, he repaired door frame and wall after someone broke into property. I have always been pleased with Mike's work. This work was done on vacant rental property. I did help when I could and 'gophered' to get supplies when necessary. The cost was $2500 and worth every penny. Mike is friendly and knowledge. I will call him for future projects.
Description of Work: Painted outside shutters Painted kitchen & bathroom after I removed wallpaper & paneling Fixed broken light fixtures and replaced one Unclogged a drain and replaced faucet Widened and framed doorway from 36" to 60" Removed, sanded and spray painted exhaust fan over stove Replaced seals on dishwasher & refrigerator Painted wrought iron hand rail Fixed all loose door knobs Removed carpet, padding, kitchen flooring and replaced with laminate (2 rooms & hallway) Cleaned gutters, and installed gutter guards Mowed the yard when I couldn't get over there to do it Installed, stained and polyurethaned stair treads that are beautiful Replaced caulk around bathtub, soapdish & commode Most important of all, he vaccuumed and cleaned up a flooded downstairs on May 2 when Nashville flooded (all previous listed work was done upstairs so no harm to new work).

+ -1 moreHe was a nice guy and was very careful with his work. He had a full time job Monday to Friday and he did this work on his off days. So it was a little difficult to schedule with him. He did a very good job. I would use him again in future.
Description of Work: I used Mike Sawyer Home Maintenance to install a wall mirror in the bathroom, installed curtain rods and a shower curtain rod a year ago.

+ -1 moreMike has another full-time job doing construction and does handyman work on the off hours (evenings and weekends). This made him difficult to get a hold of, but so were the other handymen I phoned. My persistence eventually paid off, and I got great work done at an extremely reasonable price. Mike is kind, responsible, honest, and good at what he does. I go to him first when I need some help with projects around the house, and it's worth it to me to try and work around his availability.
Description of Work: Installed attic staircase/door, installed attic flooring for storage, patched roof, mortared and capped chimney, hung large mirror, fixed hole in the wall.

+ 3 moreMike did an outstanding job. He is familiar with all phases of construction and home maintenance. He used to do warranty work for a major builder in the Nashville area until that builder sold out to another company. He then decided to go out on his own. He was always prompt. He completed the job when within the time limit he gave us.
Description of Work: Plumbing, replaced bathtub. Electrical, rewired electrical wiring in new construction that was wired incorrectly by original contractor. Painting, did touch up painting throughout home. Trim work, completed trim work in kitchen. Original contractor did not trim out kitchen cabinets and around microwave. Also repaired trim work on exterior entry door which had to be replaced due to hail damage that was left by original contractor.
