Provided $500 for materials. Jeremy brought 2 assistants, both poorly skilled. I had to point out places where wall paint had been applied to trim and ceiling--very sloppy. For some reason his assistants didn't use tape to mark boundaries, nor did they use drop cloths and got paint on floors and cabinets, not even cleaning it up. Pressure washing deck amounted to hosing it off with my water hose. When I pointed out the dirt and algae and complained that the stain wouldn't adhere, he bought some bleach! His assistant stained the deck horribly--had to be redone. Jobs were altered. Ceiling in one room was supposed to be scraped, skim coated and painted. Apparently he didn't buy ceiling paint, and painter used a gloss paint. Told me that he had built in $30 for faucet allowance. When I told him faucets didn't cost $30, he found my estimate and wrote in faucets not included in materials! He had painting 2 bathrooms which I corrected from the outset--only 1. He claimed it was just a mistake and wouldn't affect the estimate. His painters dripped paint on other walls that had a textured finish and therefore couldn't remove. When I complained he said he should have told me that if he dripped paint on the walls, it would be my responsibility. Then he used some paint to cover up all the drip marks, saying it would dry to the same color. But it made it worse giving me dark spots on the walls. I complained that I couldn't show the house like that and those walls would have to be painted. He refused until I told him I would help him. After 2 weeks he came over for a couple of hours to paint part of the walls and said he'd be back in two days, but then on that day texted me and said he couldn't come, that he would come on Sunday. Then on Sunday texted me and said he couldn't come. For painting, no prep is done unless a special request. Nail holes, wall defects, dirt are painted over. I am still trying to get paint off my hardwood floors and furniture. Stain was dripped on my carpet. Closet ceiling was supposed to be repaired, replaced with dry wall and finished. A peice of drywall was sloppily cut and badly fitted on top. It was left full of dirt and garbage. I complained that it was not finished. He said it wasn't important because no one could see it. He said swapping out replacing two faucets with putting in two shower heads was equivalent in value. He was supposed to paint the kitchen ceiling, but then said it wasn't really the ceiling he meant but the border of the ceiling and the hallway. He had to paint additional walls because painters dripped so much paint on other walls that the only solution was to paint them. I had to ask him to clean paint off the floors, which happened because he wouldn't use drop cloths or tape surfaces. He had to find new painters when the first two stopped showing up. A job that was supposed to be finished in 1 week went into 6 weeks and is still unfinished. I will have to finsh it myself and hire someone to help me. I should never have paid him.
